Thanks for the heads up. I see that someone is selling a Woody Toy breed. When i google i see nothing. Does this mean its not a pure breed as the seller claims it is?

yes Woody toy breed,Teddy Bear is not a pure breed and it doesnt comes under pedigree....(once whn i was discussing with Mr.Beh,he passed this info to me)these rabbits are imported from thailand if im not mistaken.

do you agree with me sangterap ?????

Well, being an ARBA member, I am only interested in breeds recognized by them if we are talking about purebreds. Other than that, I am not bothered with their origins because there is no way we can track/trace and no standards to refer. In short, anyone can produce anything and give them whatever names, if it is not listed on ARBA or BRC, I am not interested at all.

I just take the rabbits like any ordinary rabbit but I foresee a great implication in producing mixed bred and people patronizing these mixes because the welfare of the rabbits will always be in jeopardy. It is not all about the pricing of the rabbits. If people demand for sub standard rabbits, they will always be neglected. They are replaceable because they are dirt cheap as you can breed them by the dozens. And the best part is, people are paying way too high just because what they have in front of them is:

1) CUTE
2) There is a "Branding" i.e. all lop ear rabbits = holland lops (ridiculous!). I find this very disturbing because it is a form of deception....

But of course, in a business point of view that is definitely good but I don't see that in perpetuating and exploiting them.

Welcome to the thread. You are doing very well. It is perfectly fine to separate intact rabbits to avoid unwanted pregnancies and fights.

I suggest you don't use that brand of feed. It is cheap for a reason. If you don't believe me, I suggest you try tasting them. I have once bitten sand in those cheap feeds.

I suggest if you really cannot afford it, go for Hagen. That's the best you can give to your rabbits on a tight budget.

Welcome Junid
I'm a student myself with pets..yea money is a issue but i want what's best for them...if u are changing pallets don't get fooled by some labeled 'premium pellets' but contains grains with multiple colours which looks more like hamster food ...

Yea , I saw once last time. With blue packets isn't it? The one with 'kuaci' and some corns inside?
Nah , I fed my bunnies with ffm last 4 months. Changed to Show Rabbit Feed as friend recommended me.
Now have to change again as I'm on a tight budget =/

guys..
i was thinking,

do rabbit behave well when they kept in cage most of the time compare to those rabbit that roam freely in the house?

i let my rabbit roam freely in their places thought that they might get bored stuck in a cage for a long time.. so i just let them free..(they have my whole kitchen as their playpen).. note that the kitchen is empty and not in use for masak2 or whatsoever..

so i was thinking if i put them in a cage..most all the time..do they behave well?

i wrote this not because my bunny not well behave..it just came to my thought..thats all..

any opinion? suggestion? advise? hmm.gif

@xhuggybearx
not behaving well means???different ppl have different opinion on "not behaving"

@junid
all your bunnies like that?

Well in general,
different bunnies have different characteristics..just like us humans...some don't like to be picked up..or maybe they don't like the way u carry or hold her...
or either they are not used to human touch...maybe not used to the person...can be u did something that made it afraid so it relates to being touched/carried...

well just like any animals, rabbits need to bond with their owners too..if your rabbits is kicking..u can try putting her on your chest while u are sitting down..the legs are against your tummy or chest while u support her bottom with one hand..with the other hand u stroke her head and scratch behind the ears..hope this technique helps

Yup, I noticed the difference too. There was once I was away for holiday. I gave my friend 50bucks just incase my pets out of food she can purchase. Manatau she want to pocket as much money as possible, she bought the cheapest rabbit pellets. Not even with brands, those per kg fre bucks ones. From a furry bunny, when i'm back, it turns up all hair drop off, really! rclxub.gif

In my opnion, all animals should be provided freedom as much as possible, but not forgetting a shelter for them so they feel secured.

I tried both caging and allowing the rabbit large space to roam. Caging the rabbit, well we dont see much emotions since they cant really express themselves but just imagine you are being caged most of the time in a limited space. But when I allow the rabbit to roam at a large space, I can see him jumping, playing with toys, even tried to walk on a toy ball! The rabbit is happy, I'm happy.

wahh..so teruk meh the result..all the hair drop off...dunno what chemicals they use for the cheap ones..so scary..

yup if u let the rabbit roam free they will know which favourite spot to take naps and u can see them binky here and there for no reason..just showing that they are happy..my rabbit is roaming about my apartment..she will go back to her cage herself sometimes for food..but at night i keep her in the cage when i sleep

as for the toilet..u just pick the corner where they normally pee and poo and put a litter box there with a few poo to show what is the use of the litter pan...they will eventually know how to use it

oh i wrote not because my bunny is not well behave or something..
infact i let them roam freely..

its just that i thought what if u put my bunny in a cage at most of the time..
do they well behave/in a gud manner or will they be more 'fierce'..yala because of i locked them in cage all the time..
i thought of maybe they will be more tension..cannot go around and so on..

well my bunny is okay..i dunt have a problem with them and they also dunt give any problem to me..

its just that one of my thought..thats all..

im tryin to see in a different perspective.. smile.gif
