Give them as much as they want for hay, that is something you want to see your bunny doing, eating lots of hay (timothy + alfalfa). Is a sign of your bunny is growing and in healthy condition, cause they get hungry!

I visited a friend who own few bunny and few guinea pig, they feed lots of lots of hay, timothy hay, when i see it I said :"Great! Eat more! Good for you fellow!" Never see they rabbit have hair ball issue, never see they guinea pig got any teeth problem.

Pellets, just give a rationed amount each day. Hay should be unlimited for them to chew on.

I totally do not agree with you on limited feeding information. Rabbit diet information regardless of breeds (they are all rabbits), is all over the internet. you are not searching hard enough.

pellets do act as an agent to strike a balance in a rabbit's diet. Hay alone is not enough to sustain a rabbit nutritionally. You will still need to feed pellet because it is a guaranteed balance. In the wild, rabbits have much more to eat besides grasses (hay).

Please don't mislead yourself regarding diet. there is so much written on the 1st page of this forum and many more websites especially the House Rabbit Society website.

Holland Lop is a rabbit after all and they are not super rabbits that do not eat pellets.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your statement but you really need to read up on the basics.

Unlimited hay = present at all time. It does not mean you don't need pellets. How I wish they just eat grass and thrive, then I don't need to spend so much money on pellets. LOL!

So far there isn't any purebred Jersey Woolly or Lionheads in Msia. Those mixes should be below RM 80 so that you know and not get conned.

i understand some ppl are only interested in some special breed.. wonder why.. all are lovely. in my opinion, any rabbit, any breed will do.. as long as you like them, whatever breed doesn't matter..

i dun even know what breed is our Bit Bit, my brother rescued him from a rabbit meat farm 8yrs ago when my bro went to the farm to do some m&e works ... but we all love him nevertheless..

Eli and me surely agree with u..

Added on January 26, 2010, 8:14 amhow ever i'm just not satisfied that some people tend to get their rabbits from seller who claim to be pure breeds and pay a high price for the bunny.what i'm saying is don't get con by these seller or else your just encouraging them more..do your own research and make right choices if u are opting for pure breeds.however if one really like the bunny and got his/her love at first sight i don't think anyone has the right to stop him/her from buying the bunny..

Added on January 26, 2010, 8:15 amchrysseng i like your profile picture..is that bitbit?she has a nice chincilla colour

Thanks for the heads up. I see that someone is selling a Woody Toy breed. When i google i see nothing. Does this mean its not a pure breed as the seller claims it is?

I've got 3 rabbits, 2 of them at 3.5 years old, and the 3rd one coming to 2 years old soon. All 3 are still on the Show Rabbit Feed till now. Only thing that I changed in their diet is the timothy hay.

No offense to the mixed bred but if you are looking for a pure bred rabbits, anything out of those on these 2 websites, most probably new hybrid or mixes:

1) http://www.thebrc.org/stds.htm (British Standard)
2) http://www.arba.net/Breeds.htm (American Standard)

Not to mention there are many Malaysian standards too, whatever specification they follow, I don't know....

Maybe just based on the CUTE factor....

First of all, there is no MINI HOLLAND LOP. that shows how much the seller know about rabbits. I'll only pay RM 50 for those rabbits listed there. MAX.

If it is a pure bred, ask for 4 generations PEDIGREE that shows you the lineage. The Holland Lop world is very small, once you recognize the lines with RABBITRY names listed, you can double check with the breeders whether local or overseas to know if they have send their rabbits into Malaysia and this offspring is indeed from their lines.

That's the best you can do right now. If they can't prove their rabbits' lineage, that is definitely a non pedigree. here's the check list:

1) Ask for pedigree
Sample:

2) Ask for parents (they may have Tattoo on their left ear)

With the babies or the juniors, it'll be really difficult to tell. Will be sort of easier if the seller can show you the parents of the rabbit though, as its easier to determine from a full grown.
