QUOTE(phelix @ Jan 14 2010, 03:50 PM) this is madness... this is spartaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a oil production country fuel price follow international fuel rate........ i can tell this is the century biggest joke... and drop the import tax duty to 30% from 200% also impossible.. yes we want this to happen but not like that.. suddenly drop from 200% to 30%... even korea also takes alot of time and still in process to drop import duty.. according to my korea friend.. korea is now matching the selling price of local product to import vehicle as they knew their Kia and Hyundai quality and reputation are now match to fight with japs car. our G should follow korea.. how they plan for the citizen. I had read through an articles about how the evolution on the automotive industries in Korea. In summary, Malaysia is following the similar way when Korea start to produce thier own Brand era. But the concern we have now is how long may our lovely Malaysia need to take in order to make it on par as what Korea is doing now..

If Korean doesn't improve further, maybe another 5 to 10yrs ... if they keep on improving ... the answer is NEVER ... proton can never be on par with Kia or Hyundai, unless it is taken over buy a bigger company and overhaul the management

Sometimes we need to read newspaper to get the true messages. Sources from the internet got too many false info & rumours spreading around.

I already asked my SA to change to 1.6SX.. due to fuel increase this year.. n of course the 2.0 fuel consumption is higher than the 1.6.. whatever the formulae that the gov will come out i'm guessing that it wont favour us much.. as the basic issue is fuel increase.. so, at least jimat a bit..

QUOTE(4te @ Jan 14 2010, 08:25 AM) I thought u r from Malaysia hehehe I am. QUOTE(Fortelover @ Jan 14 2010, 02:24 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « PUTRAJAYA, Jan 8 – The mechanism for fuel pricing in Malaysia has finally been finalized and controlled under one mechanism, which also takes the high and lower income group people into consideration, according to Finance Trade Minister Tan Sri Anuar Ali.
“From May 1, the fuel will be pegged at RM 3.90 per litre for RON97, while RON95 will increase to RM 3.70 per litre. However, the prices of national-made vehicles will be lowered by at least 40 percent. For example, a full-spec family sedan Proton Persona 1.6 litre engine will cost around RM 23,000.00 excluding road tax and insurance. Import tax and excise duty will be revised to only 30 percent, from the current 200 percent. Imported vehicles such as the new Toyota Camry 2.4 litre engine will cost around RM 65,000.00.” he said.
The mechanics has been said to be undertaken by a team of experts from Australia and Canada who were earlier briefed on the issue of subsidy in this country, whereas after consideration by the transport minister, they have signed the constitution that the system will be made on May 1, the day it goes into effect.
Under the new system, there will be a major effect on the existing consumers who have already purchased a vehicle and to those who are in the midst of repaying the loan of their vehicle to their financial institutions.
Ahmad Tajuddin said the government might also re-introduce a cash return annually to Malaysians who own a 1,500 cc and below vehicle. The amount have yet to be decided but he assured that the amount will compensate the price of fuel by at least half to eligible Malaysians based on bumi quota. – SkyNet News Asia Can anyone pls feedback how true is the above? Got this from some email chains, and when I tried to search for SkyNet News Asia it requried subscription.. Doesn't sound convincing at all... 65K for Camry... it's way too cheap and will kill every other car manufacturer, in particularly Proton and Perodua. The government will never let this happen.
