tele for wedding normal la, cos normally photographer take close up pic of the bride n groom
300mm maybe abit over la, but its quite common to c 70-200 in weddings?
unless take group photo then need wide lens la
but hired photographer hardly take group pics?
n ppl who wan have group pics always have compact cams with "super wide 28mm" with them  tongue.gif
*
wedding need much more than that... i main use 3 type lense..

a) 18-50 f 2.8 or 50mm f1.8 -- for general shot & potrait
b) tele 70-300 G/ Tamron 70-300 DI LD -- for tele.can use also for potrait.to create such bokeh at 200-300mm with f4.also to capture outdoor while they walking towards the pelamin ( berarak).. or for skodeng awek cun from far away..hehe
c) Wide angle - capture during group photo.. or at meja makan.. or taking from upview..wide angle also can create nice/creative effect semasa pengantin bersanding..

Guys... it's been quite a looooong time since i posted in lowyat..

been a bit busy with my studies and wedding jobs..still using my D90 and 18-105VR with SB600.

Guys.. i wanna ask, which one better to have? The new Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 or the older Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 ?
*
i prefer 10-20 for the range...why not tokina 12-24?

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Jan 5 2010, 09:32 AM)

AF-S noise and the VR noise is different. AF-S is much louder than the VR noise.

VR noise only kick in when you do half press on the shutter, just put your ears close to the lens and listen after your lens has already focused.

my vr only has some 'tak tak' noise when its engaged..AF-S pretty quiet smile.gif...

see VR in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqVA3xa8TjI

AF-S sound:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dQf_dBVI7U
if u listen carefully, u should hear a soft 'click' before the AF-S sound...the click should be VR

Yes, there'll be a tak sounds when the VR engages and disengages. And you don't need to be shaking the camera, the VR works even when you are holding it still.

before bought my D90, my original budget is 500D...
after side by side try on hand & comparison..I decided to buy D90, which is 3 months old and until now I never regret!

but just wonder people always advice to buy dslr with built in motor (exp: D90 vs D3000) to avoid high expenses on the lenses at future...

but seems all nikkor lenses are expensive and I don't see where was the D90 can used cheaper lenses..becoz all the lenses are same price rite?

for example the cheap n popular 50mm f/1.8D can only be used on d90... for D3000 cheapest prime f/1.8 lens is the 35mm which costs double than the 50mm

i'd go for the d3000 since the lenses i like (35mm, 55-200, 18-105) are all AF-S anyway hehe. for wide angle lenses i think autofocus it not that important, since u'll want to focus everything anyway.

there are a few nice and famous lens that u cant use it on a D3000/D5000...
eg:
AF 14mm 2.8D,AF 20mm 2.8D, AF 24mm 2.8D, AF 28mm 1.4D,AF 35mm 2.0D, AF 85mm 1.8D, AF 85mm 1.4D,
AF 105/135mm 2.0D DC, AF 80-200mm 2.8D and the list goes on and on...

the closest alternative that I can think of:
AF-S 35mm 1.8, AF-S 50mm 1.4 AF-S 14-24mm 2.8, AF-S 105mm 2.8, AF-S 85mm 3.5, AF-S 24-70mm 2.8, AF-S 55-200, AF-S 70-300, AF-S 70-200

what he mean is wide angle lens usually have large Depth-of-Field and focusing doesn't really important. You can do manually or whatever.

for wide angle photo, u'll want everything to be in focus, no bokeh etc. since the point of using wide angle lens is to capture more subjects (e.g. huge group photo) then u'll want to focus to infinity, so there's nothing to autofocus on. same goes to landscapes etc

at least that's what i read lah tongue.gif

edit: lighter described it perfectly
