WhatsApp Messenger

As stated from the title, this is a topic for people using WhatsApp messenger and prefer it more to PING!
Unlike Ping! which u could ping anyone just by knowing their usernames, WhatsApp Messenger synchronises with ur phonebook to check anyone who is using the App as well and no add is required! So it means that you can only text people in ur phonebook who uses the application. Well basically this has both Pros n Cons and it is beneficial for someone who wants more privacy and doesn't want to get texted by random people, and its more troublesome cause you would have to get ur fren's number and add him/her into ur phonebook in order to text him/her. There's another good thing as well, which is you could update ur status for people to see and you can know when's the last time someone logged in their whatsapp.

In the Ping! thread, I've noticed quite a lot of ppl uses whatsapp as well so I might as well open a new thread specifically about it. Previously, some ppl could register their number and some ppl can't because the app itself says it's not available in Malaysia, but I think one of our forum members found a definite way to get the app to work in Malaysia.

QUOTE(fylon @ Nov 30 2009, 05:09 PM)
Had faced the same problem as u do for 3 weeks after I downloaded WhatsApp. Only today then I figured out the clue to make it worked.

Check did u key in ur phone number in ur iPhone by checking on Settings > Phone > My Number . If the field is empty, then key in ur phone number then register WhatsApp again. I got mine to work with this trick. Hopefully it works for u too. laugh.gif

P/s: According to one of the forumer that emailed WhatsApp team, they mentioned that up coming v2.3 will officially support Malaysia telco. thumbup.gif

Anything about WhatsApp Messenger could be posted here so that everyone can share their experiences and any troubleshoots/problems with the application.

WhatsApp Messenger is still free at the moment, so guys, get it while it's free!! It's really an amazing app and so far I haven't experienced any crashes at all!

finally all this hype about whatsapp. Was quite disappointed as to compare to Ping. I was hoping that photo can be attach so something like that.
The fonts are smaller than Ping's. But the good part is that you can view your friend's status on the phone book.

I must thank fylon for the discovery on how to register it.

Just downloaded the app and it synchronizes with my phone book and detected one of my contacts is on WhatsApp. Pretty cool, except that I don't know how is it different from an IM client haha! Probably the 'always on' feature where you get notified via push, eh?

TS, I got another finding from recent problem with WhatApps.

Whenever you swap the simcard, you need to update your phone number. If you didn't change it with the new simcard number, the WhapApps will stop responding.

Thanks eugenechiuu for opening up this topic to clarify all my earlier thoughts, haha!

QUOTE(dinozilla @ Oct 24 2009, 10:07 AM)
dude..perhaps u din read from its page....

NOTE I: WhatsApp DOES NOT use SMS for chat. WhatsApp will use your Wi-Fi connection if Wi-Fi is available. If no Wi-Fi is available, WhatsApp will use your EDGE/3G connection - therefore it is recommended that you have unlimited data plan in order to use WhatsApp.

NOTE II: WhatsApp is currently not available in Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and India.

I've tried it works well what a good stuff

bad thing is...wat for u wanna use one tat onli limit to those who has the same app onli....
and the usage method is...
if there is no wifi, it use ur EDGE/3G, that practically same as u use IM+ or so to connect

i don see any point we want tat

Really? I think that's just normal since you DO have to know someone's number if you want to text him/her right? So no point in the piracy advantage if people can still text you after you changed to another simcard, obviously you would need to update ur phone number as well. Well that's the part which is different from BBM then.

There is few forumer reporting the same thing too in ping! thread. Mostly likely is because of ur phone been JB thus the push function cant function properly. Most of the non JB user dont face this problem tou.

@Adium,
Is it working only because you err had your push notification "fixed"?

@fizyboy,
Try searching for "push notification fix" and see if you can find a proper fix for your iPhone smile.gif

@stephenCSW,
If ur Wifi is off the application will automatically log on via data services. If and when you're on roaming just switch roaming to off and u should have no issues

I started using pings. and find that there's alot of issues during that period of time. msg lags, msg not received, msg not delivered and so on. as for what's app, i have been having prompt response. Maybe it's due to signal instability or just my bad luck during that time. but i will have to give my vote for what's app after using both application.

hmm.. .funny.. i read something abt u have to either
1) switch off all ur push for 2-3 hrs then switch it back on. - inorder for apple to register ur what's app push (source from 2do app)
2) switch to airplane mode for awhile and switch it back on - (source from what's app)

u might give those a try.. i once have problems with the push in my 2do apps. and switching off all push and switch it back on after an hour or so did help. so hope that solves ur issue.

Hey Ericca, i think we are facing the same issue.. I just got my whatsapp installed and tried to send messages to some of my buddies but it'll prompt me the message "Sorry, we failed to register you with a chat server. Contact support? (Yes or No)"

Please advice.. notworthy.gif

1) switch off all ur push for 2-3 hrs then switch it back on. - inorder for apple to register ur what's app push (source from 2do app)
2) switch to airplane mode for awhile and switch it back on - (source from what's app)

I got my WhatsApp when it was still free. That time they said it doesn't work on Msia but then again it does back then smile.gif
So far I personally think that it's way better than Ping and BBM. One is that it just searched based on the phonebook. If ping you need to ask first if anyone installed one and another is that what is the username. Kinda leceh. Sometimes you can't keep track of your phonebook on who have the iphone or not. BBM the leceh part is need to get the number.
Maybe the possible drawback of Whatsapp is that sometimes you don't want to give your number to others but just want to give them your ID which Ping will make perfect sense. Then again what are the chances of every single one person have an Iphone with ping installed and with you not wanting to give your number to them? Unlikely...

Oh thx for the info! I think it was just released recently only is it? I've just checked it out, it's $2.99 for BB whatsapp.. was hoping I could text my BB frens but the BB version is quite pricey compared to the iPhone's ><

Is ur fren from SG using the whatsapp smoothly without any issues?

It's another totally different apps? I assumed either BB whatsapp will work only for whatsapp and BBM and normal whatsapp only for whatsapp? I wished they just integrate both. Then I just need to upgrade this one sad.gif

Nope, the whatsapp for Blackberry enables cross texting with iPhone's whatsapp... Few days ago when tinkerbel told me about it, it was still on the Blackberry Appworld, now it's not available again.. They did stated u could text with iPhone's whatsapp....

So BB user need to have Whatsapp for BB? If they are offering it free maybe alot of BB user will download it to the benefit of growing iPhone Whatsapp fanbase. Quite a number of BB users are there for the BBM instead of normal "office" usage I think.

Yea they need to buy that App in order to text with Iphone whatsapp users... Well in long term it's worthed for BB users who have a lot of frens using iPhone... Still, if the price is lower then it would attract more ppl to buy it...

Yes, that's right. So if your friend have your number it will check if that number is registered or not and they can text you instantly on Whatsapp. As long as you put in any different number but still yours should be fine. Otherwise it will create domino effect..haha.

i don't really fancy this app to be honest.

very sleek and innovative design and concept, yes

but because i use it very often, messages sometimes fail to load inside the app itself.

meaning, i know that there is an incoming message from whatsapp because of the push capability.

however, upon entering the app, the message simply fail to load (happened a couple of times already)

as a result of that, i'm switching between ping and this one intermittently

No idea on that but then again I'm using it only in Wifi spots here except when I'm in Malaysia. So far it's great since I bought 2 phones for me and my gf and occasionally chatted up with my colleagues. Can't gauge it pretty well unless I communicated alot with it.

i'm hardly home (except to catch some winks) and hence i rely heavily on the carrier network.

in another word, i'm perpetually online.

furthermore, i kinda like ping, because the incoming message tone "ping ping!" is very loud, distinctive and ability to diffract well.

actually to be honest, you guys may or may not, know that whatsapp has an inbuilt stalking mechanism.i'm always curious to learn if a gal is deliberately trying to avoid me

you can always find out with ease, if a person has read your message and decides not to reply your whatsapp message because the app logs on, a user's last online time (ping or its nearest competitors do not possess such a feature)

It still can't work. When I send the link to my BB and open it with app world, it says "This application is not available on your device or for your carrier."
What do I do now?

I already created a paypal account to pay for the app but I can't even proceed to buy it.

Just curious. What is the different between WhatsApp and other Internet Messenger?

I told my friends about it and they all asked me, why go and buy WhatsApp when we all can sms, call and login to Internet Messenger. Somemore Internet Messenger can connect to other friends who are on their COMPUTER and not limited to just friends using WhatsApp.

Not everyone using it, so my friends from IM might be 50 and now left to about 5?

If we say it is free, it still consume our 3G data usage and I still have to pay for using it.

Please enlighten me. Interested but yet not sure what the purpose of it.

Most of the IM need an email address to connect to, is kinda troublesome if you were to add someone new. and is kinda like chit chat style...

Whatsapps do not need to have any email address account, what you need just an active mobile no.

Yes, active mobile no., once if your fren oso have whatsapps in their iphone, automatically you can see their name appear in your whatsapps application.

It is more towards like sms... whenever your friend send you and whatsapps message, it will appear on your iphone just like an normal sms.

Whatsapp uses mobile no for "identification" kinda thing so if let say one of your circle of friends have an iPhone and installed Whatsapp it will automatically detect it without the need to exchange email address/id. I would say it pretty much depends on your need as well.
If you are still studying it might not be that clear yet since I still remember when I was studying everyone was limited to YM/MSN kinda thing but once you started working with alot of contact everywhere Whatsapp is one of a good tool to keep in touch without the need to pay for international SMS. When you met someone new IRL normally you will exchange phone no and not email ID since it's alot easier, faster and practical so if it happen they are on iPhone later and using Whatsapp it will automatically detect it.
One reason why I prefer Whatsapp rather than Ping! since it's using mobile no instead of ID

I have a few friends who bought BB simply for BBM. It's an alternative way to contact people.

Hi there,

I've been using Whatsapp for few months now and it's absolutely great. For all the unsure and newbies - check out their official website and Facebook fan page and all your questions will be answered. Best part is they keep updating new features every now and then, its very useful and unique. Your contact list will slowly grow. Be patient hehe

Anyways, back to my real question, a friend of mine who uses Whatsapp in Malaysia has gone to Europe for a 2 week holiday. Using a iPhone 3GS with roaming enabled on Maxis. Question is: would it be cheaper to turn on data roaming to send Whatsapp back to Malaysia (unsure what the data usage is going to cost though) OR; to just send an sms which cost around RM1 for each sms sent from Europe.

Any experienced advise is appreciated. Thanks

call maxis and they can give you (almost) a fixed price for data per MB, for that said country.

Thanks for the info. I saw that displayed on their site. Only issue is, my friend is just going through europe on a holiday hence spending a day or two often at a location hence it doesnt make sense to sign up for each country's price deal. Moreover my friend is already abroad so I wouldn't be able to call on my friend's behalf anyway.

I suppose for my situation, only solution now minimize whatsapp'ing to keep data roaming low and sms in the mean time. Or occasionally find some free wifi portal somewhere. Fun part about whatsapp is you can immediately send pics (one of many examples) of their travels whilst chatting which is pretty cool.

Thanks anyway

My advice would be do not turn on data roaming when abroad at all cost.
Use sms instead as it will be cheaper. Or if you need to use it get a prepaid simcard in those countries. I spend 10 month every year working everywhere so the best would be just get a prepaid simcard. Certain countries have incredible deal for data plus sometimes cheaper to send sms from those numbers instead
Apart from that you need to remember that there are alot of background activities that use the Internet feature in iPhone so you can't control it. The price stated in the website is true and it might seems low but when it all added up, you can easily have 4 reaching 5 figures for phone bill.

Thanks for the advice. Yea I suppose turning on data roaming could be fatal on your phone bill with some of the apps looking to download info. My friend has been turning it on just to whatsapp then turn it back off. But yeah I guess its safer on the wallet if just sms and only use whatsapp if there is free wifi in the area.

the only solution is to get your push notification working. my gf's phone has exactly same problem as yours. push notification not working....dunno why also as i jailbreak it exactly the same as mine.

lucky her phone has 3.1.2 SHSH on Cydia so i might help her restore.

you can try installing push fix and see if it helps?

your battery life should be very bad like this right? correct me if i'm wrong.

anyways, this is how i fixed the push notification.

1. installed Push Doctor from sinfuliphone repo. this is better than Push Fix.
2. installed SBSettings Push Notification add-on.
3. respring phone.
4. disabled Push Notification, using SBSettings toggle.
5. startup Whatsapp and it will prompt you saying that you need push notification on,bla bla bla bla, click accept.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Jbing your iPhone will break the push notification certs in your iPhone as well. One could create the certs again by reinstalling the OFW and extracting the certs then JB and insert the certain. The certs are supposed to be unique to every iPhone. The process is actually quite tedious. I found website selling certs that they've pre-generated at usd 5 and I've bought it coz then there was no push doctor available. And the other push fix didn't work for me. But affter paying for the fix, it worked flawlessly.

Yes, it would work. Doesn't have to be on the same country. You need to have his username though.

Push fix works on my non JBed 3GS.

whatsapp will work so long you have an internet connection. but pandai pandai la, if you're bringing a msian line to overseas for holidays. then try to use wi-fi connection else you'll be charged for data roaming if you use EDGE/3G.

one of our close fren is working in vietnam and he got a local number which has free data plan and he is using whatsapp to stay connected with our group of frens in malaysia. it's like free sms smile.gif

How do you guys setup WhatsApp? I entered the following

Country code: +60" Malaysia
Phone No: 012-1234567 (or should I just enter 12-1234567 without the '0'?)

I know it doesn't work as a few of my frineds in contact list with WhatsApp and it said there is no one in my contact using it.

Yes it would work. The person will rcv the msg just like sms which will display your number but without name. The way whatsapp work is just like sms on the front where you can see if the msg sent to server, delivered to user etc

1) Your display pic depend on if you store your own name and put a pic associated with it.
2) Other person display pic depend what you use as their pic when you store their phone no
3) Your display pic is not going to display on another person phone if they just simply store your name

If you picked the opiton it will scan your phone book and will automatically add those that have Whatsapp installed. No need to manually add since they don't use username etc

it has its own push notification for new messages and u can set the sound of new message notification from 7 preinstalled sounds

the app runs on the background. no need to make sure its running, coz it is always running on the background.

^ agreed ;D most of the good games are very cheap anyway. angry birds only 99c but see they conquer #1 spot how long dy...i wonder how much $ they made

it's those 9.99 apps that i stop buying dy... they're normally fun but not much replay value tongue.gif

Hi guys.
Well, the only thing that you guys can do if you dont want to pay for the app but wanted to use it for a long period is..

you guy can download for trial and after it expired, delete the app and redownload it again. (for blackberry)

By doing this, you can use it but the pain is every few month, you have to redownload again.

But for me, downloading is not so much pain tho.
Hope this helps.

there is alot of messaging apps,
i found out that. whatapps is the best why?
1st of all is much more stable compare to others apps such as : ping!, Pmessenger etc.
2nd its nt required u to register. it just need ur phone number and
it will automatically trace which of ur friends using this apps you do not need to add them! unlike BBM, Pmez, Ping! all u nid to add them

anyway, it is worth to buy this apps. but i get it free anyway. bcoz i dl-ed while its on promotion!

Yes normal but you need to enable push notification in order for push to work.

Yeah, i got mine free as well on promotion biggrin.gif Early adopters pays as somehow I know this can be a big hit as it doesn't require username/pin no etc

@am

its normal for it. because mine also like that. the push notification is the backbone for this software as message will be push through your iphone. it does not the connectivity of the network in the whatsapp( either connected or connecting ) as when ever there is a message come to your the push notification will send it to you then by that time when you open the app it will connecting.

the reason it not connected all the time is to save battery life. that the beauty of push service.

p/s: correct me if im wrong about the apps and push notification im saying just ^^.

Just curious to know how this works if, let's say, WhatsApp gets an update - can everyone else update it on their own? Or will they need your iTunes account info/password?

I got my WhatsApp when it was free, so while I know I can download it onto my siblings' phones, I'm wondering what will happen if it gets an upgrade - whether or not I have to share my iTunes password with them...

I think it's a matter of the phone number that u have set in ur phone.. Try checking ur own phone number whether it's been set correctly on ur own phone?

well, if ur sibling's phone ever needs an update, you just need to type in ur pw once in their phone to update it for them

Lol I thought i sounded confusing myself...

What i mean is the number on the iPhone itself..

Go to settings --> phone --> my number

Try check whether it's really the same number as ur simcard...

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

But last time, one of my friend text me in Whats App, from his Blackberry.
And he's not using WhatsApp on his BB.
Is that possible?
Because I tried to text my other friend using BB through WhatsApp, but failed.

Thanks.

Hmm... For the iPhone version, you just need to change the number stated on ur phone in Settings --> Phone, the 'my number' just change to your new number then whatsapp would automatically use that number..

Sorry what is this 3 digit activation you're talking about? As my memory serves, I don't think there're any activation required for the Iphone whatsapp?

Would be perfect if we can call over 3G using Whatsapp. Any app that can text and call online, that builds the contact list according to our contact's phone number would be king.

Maybe you are right. The next best thing is Vonage, which take the list from Facebook. But then, Apple approved a native Google Voice app recently.

If I'm not mistaken it doesn't really matter. Even if the app is closed, if someone message you and you're connected to 3G or Wifi, you will still receive a push notification.

I think Skype began to charge for VOIP calls since September? Initially it wasn't allowed until Apple removed the VOIP restrictions..

@doomx,
I've no problems with my Whatsapp. Haven't used Ping for the longest time; I guess I'll leave Ping for "net friends" whilst Whatsapp are kept for those people who knows me personally since it's traced via phone number

Im no problem send and receive msg at Whatsapp. Smooth and clear. Love it.

But I have a question:

1. Whatsapp comes with the Voice note and Picture. When we receive the voice note and need to download it to listen. But where do I delete the downloaded files after listen or view them (voice note and picture) ?

Anyone know about this?

For iPhone users, they only need to pay once for Whatsapp whereas for BB and Nokia users, they need to pay $1.99 annually. The free ones are most probably still on trial (90 days trial).

wanted to ask there are 2 tick under the sent message.. but sometimes i only saw one tick under message.. so based on rational logical thinking.. the 2 ticks means send successful from my iphone and received successful at another iphone while one tick means successful sent from my iphone?

Haha yea u're correct, 2 ticks means the person has read ur message already... Normally 1 tick means successfully sent from ur phone and received in another phone, 2 ticks only happens when the person opens their whatsapp to check the message..

whatsapp till now havent give me the three digit to activation my whatsapp......sad.

I've encounter same as you.

Step 1: On that enter-code screen, click Contact them. After few hours, they emailed me, saying my registration is not in their system. They ask me to uninstall and reinstall it, with no double payment.

Step 2: After uninstall, but before reinstall, switch off wifi. Turn on data carrier (3G). Then only install. Generate code, and within 1 minute, I received SMS and activated thumbup.gif

Step 3: Now only turn back wifi on. You may turn off data carrier (if you wish). Start whatapps and enjoy.

Whatsapp server is so unpredictable, I've been having a problem connecting to the server multiple times this week. The network status stuck at "Connecting" .. waste the 0.99 paid for it .. PingChat seems to be more stable.. and free too.

Based on your contact's phone numbers. You will see them in your Whatsapp contact list provided you have them in your phone's contacts AND they registered their Whatsapp with that number.

not sure about the iPod touch.

but AFAIK whatsapp will not work on the iPad (tried it before)

which makes a little sense since there is no mobile number attached to the iPad.

It doesn't matter. As long as the phone the number is attached with is able to receive text messages, it will work. After all, all Whatsapp is asking for is just the 3 digit code verification they text to you.

a person has to be signed in to able to receive messages over the MSN.

whatsapp doesn't reqiure such prerequisite and hence it mimics the conventional text messaging system.

Yup... But the BB would need to install whatsapp as well...

Currently BB for whatsapp is free to download and free for 90 days but after that you'd need to pay 1.99USD per year in order to use the service...

Maxis ? Had that issue , it seems Maxis has strange issues with getting SMS from UK

Try sending them an e-mail if you've purchased. Thats what I did , got a response from their CS , they re-routed their number to a US number , I got the PIN - instantly it worked

personally i tink whatsapp is better coz ur ID is ur fone number n ur number is auto added. ping meanwhile needs u to add a unique ID to chat. too much trouble. whatsapp is now sumore on all platforms. wider penetration.

Dont install this app unless u got 3G unlimited data plan or it will cost u a bomb! This is what happened to my fren who installed it for fun. He was wondering why he can still receive msgs even though there is no wifi around(not an unlimited data plan subscriber either) and the next thing he knows, he kena charge like crazy liao.

1. ur fren kena charge coz he doesnt have a data plan. as u kno, data is expensive in msia if calculated as 1kb - 1 sen (or sumthin like dat).

2. 1gb is more than enuf. my whatsapp takes bout 1mb after sendin/receiving bout 600sms. and dat includes some pictures aswell.

3. whatsapp just sends text mostly, so data usage is very very minimal. few kb's nee per msg.

bear in mind that if u enabled ur Data without having a proper data plan, it would cost you a bomb no matter what... There're many other apps which 'eats' ur data as well.. facebook, opening games (they log in ur game centre/open feint) and many more....

lesson: never enable ur cellular data network without a data plan.....

99 cents = rm3, can't even buy me a bag of keropok in UK...

Note that BB users have to pay 1.99USD per year for the service, for iPhone it's just a one-off payment of 99cent... We should be grateful lol...

Anyways it used to be free for 2 times previously.. First was when it first released and 2nd time during the time I started this topic...

To share my experience:

Dont install this app unless u got 3G unlimited data plan or it will cost u a bomb! This is what happened to my fren who installed it for fun. He was wondering why he can still receive msgs even though there is no wifi around(not an unlimited data plan subscriber either) and the next thing he knows, he kena charge like crazy liao.
*
You don't need unlimited data plan. The lowest data plan will be more than enough to accommodate whatsapp usage

I got 500mb data plan free every month and never before i exceed it with whatsapp on 24/7 (PUSH)

Total of 7k+ receive and sent msg and some media content

The usage is only 11mb

An interesting article that I found online here.

For all iPhone and Blackberry users, I'm sure you are very familiar with these 2 applications. It's an application which allows users to communicate with each other in text messages for FREE. Forget about sms where you need to pay per sms, use Whatsapp and BBM (Blackberry Messenger) , you can chat all day and night for free. It's kinda like MSN messenger actually.

user posted image

There's advantages and disadvantages for everything. Seriously, nothing is perfect in this world. The advantage of these two application is of course, you can send text message to your friend(s) (who also own an iPhone and/or Blackberry Phone) for free. It really helps you to save a lot, if you are like me for one, love to text people. I actually saved up a lot by using Whatsapp, because I really text a lot in a day. Now that I'm using Whatsapp, I can bug my friends even more *evil grins* AND of course to keep in touch with them at the same time.

Here comes the disadvantage of it. It's not really a disadvantage if you didn't over-used it actually. For me, since I'm so used to Whatsapp now, when I received a SMS, I'll type one sentence, and STRAIGHT AWAY click the send button. Then, I'll go %#@^##. So, please be careful not to over-used and over-depend on it.

yes will charge but very little only, juz text. rm100 is 10mb. whatsapp would not use that much unless ur fren send too much pics tongue.gif or maybe something not related to whatsapp at all

obviously usin data witout a data plan will get ur throat slit. ur fren must have used a couple MB's worth of data. any app dat uses data will reward u with a hefty bill. i suggest ur fren stop usin whatsapp unless he in a wifi zone.

erm, i heard its free on blackberry liao.
but when i see my fren install that time, it says there 3 months free trial. so after that, it depends whether u wana buy it or not. they wont automatically charge u, dont worry

i mentioned that earlier in this thread, but was told off that whatsapp doesnt consume that much data.
oh well, at least we know those without data plan with whatsapp installed is having a shock on their bill.

errr..its better u ask ur frens who has a bb or iphone to install d app. den u can sms dem for free rather than adding unknown ppl. as u can see, this app is similar to SMS function on ur fone.

but i have to say this app is superb and its popularity is fast catchin up among BB/iphone users in Msia.

I have some probem when I am on Wifi at home. When 3G is on, the push came thru instantly. But when I am on Wifi at home, 90% of the time the push does not go thru and I can't get the WhatsApp message.

The strange thing I noticed is that, if the push notification came thru wifi, then that whole period is working very good. When I can't get the push, then I won't get a single message notification for the whole day.

Do you guys know what is wrong with my home wifi? Is it the router setup issue or streamyx problem?

Kik is ok but its almost like Ping which requires a nickname. whatsapp i feel is much more convenient coz it auto adds d users number into d app witout searchin. n its associated with a universal fone number.

p/s there is an update available smile.gif

I don't get this. Once both party had approved, it will then automatically display in contact list via whatsapp. Since friend of yours have you in their list, it is weird case for you.

*
I experience this with my mails... but whatsapp works fine.

Oh I just checked it out, but the moment it asks me to register an account, I deleted it haha.. IMO, nope this is not a threat at all.. Whatsapp doesn't require registration most importantly.. Besides that whatsapp had cross platform since almost a year ago.. It took them more than 1 year to gain this fame, any competitor would need to do much better to break into the competition.. There's a reason why Pingchat died down and lost to whatsapp also because of the ID system..
In many cases, whatsapp have become a trend to many also.. E.g. I'll whatsapp you later... Instead of I'll text you later.. Lol

So rest assure whatsapp would still dominate!!

Ok, both got each numbers... i'm in his list... but he not show up in my list... when he msg me... a number +60xxx xxxx show up.. i can msg him back... but he not in my list. Reinstall still the same. Btw i store his number straight 016xxxxxxx without country code.
*
hey there... i'm having the same prob. What i realized is, i used to store my contacts in my SIM. I did a testing to copy all SIMS to Phone contact.
Once done I start to see whole list of WhatsAPP user in my Favourites ... Good Luck smile.gif

I downloaded Whatsapp but when ppl send message to me, it doesn't push and I have to manually go to the app each time and wait for messages. How to fix it? Tried removing and installed again. Doesn't work.

And, currently using maxis line, if I wanna change to digi sim card, will it corrupt my Whatsapp and ping account or will it just don't receive messages until I replace it with the maxis sim card back? Thanks.

When it doesnt push, it means ur signal is weak.

changing from maxis to digi or vice versa will not corrupt ur whatsapp, unless u change ur number eg. 012 - 016. otherwise, its fine

wengjoe,

If plug into PC through USB/BT, use Nokia PC Suite - Software/Application Installer.
If you already copy into memory card, open the .sis using any File Manager tools.

I'm a new user for whatsapp.. I experience lagging for this apps. Msg I sent out, the recipients only received it few hours later and vice versa as well.. However, it is weird as not all msg lag.. There is only one recipient who receive my msg on time and I received his on time.. This happened even in wifi area.. Anyone can advice me how to solve this problem?
