Thanks all, I will try in the next 48 hours. Another question, is the free wifi modem by tm good enough? Or any recommend wireless modem router?

Good enough , actually it can be hacked

If you insist on having more control , try using wrt54g or its n variant and flash it with Tomato or DD-WRT !

last thursday i upgrade my streamyx 1mb to 4mb and tm guy told me to wait technician to install and active 4mb line for me and they charge rm80 to next bill, is it normal(they said "must" let tm guy to setup 2mb&4mb line so rm80 installation fee cant be waive)???

and i just check my modem statistic :

Rate (Kbps): 3068/509

SNR Margin (dB): 25.1/30.7 (slightly change every time i reboot my modem)
Attenuation (dB): 32.5/17.9 (slightly change every time i reboot my modem)

streamyx guy still not come so my speed remain 1mb but my download rate is 3mb now???? and what is SNR Margin & Attenuation?? is my line ok for 4mb?

sorry to ask a stupid/repeat question but i'm too lazy to go through all 125 pages to find out the answer......

TM technician told me their minimum spec for
SNR (dB) : 15 dB (higher is better)
Attenuation (dB) : 30 dB (lower is better)

To me, if you can get SNR of more than 20dB it is pretty good enough. I think yours are 'ok'. I wouldn't complaint anything if i get like that tongue.gif
Mine is even worst than yours since I upgraded to 4Mb. SNR just 8-12dB. (previously was ~27dB with 1Mb)
Can't even get 3.5-3.7Mb on speedtest. Mostly just 2.5-2.8Mb ....haih

Well I wouldn't recommend you to be capped at 5Mbps , for at that speed you should have good connection as in no disconnection or very rare disconnection. The Attenutation seems to be bit on higher side and the SNR Margin is just okay , not good , but just fair enough. Upload looks pretty good to me tho

Today I was at my friend's place and she was using her neighbor's connection which had an IP starting with the number 110. Is that the 4 MB package by Streamyx or is that Unifi? Can anyone tell? The down and up speeds were about 5.21 MB and 6 MB respectively. She was also downloading a file off Utorrent with a speed of about 571kb/s.

The tmnet guy came and install the modem and setup 4mpbs package this morning. After he left, I checked the speed with speedtest it was only 1.4mpbs-1.5mpbs which is my old package speed.

The modem did show
Rate (Kbps): 4096/511

SNR Margin (dB): 30.8/28.3
Attenuation (dB): 21.0/8.6

Should I wait for couple days to lodge a complaint?

thanks  smile.gif
