Yea because my line now very stable for 1mbps. I scare after they upgrade my line become like crap. Some of my fren after upgrade their line become horribly bad

Check SNR Margin

If you've a good SNR Margin , say 30-40 , then 4Mbps would be superb. if its like 15-20 , then you'll have issues with 4Mbps....

CODE
Mode: ADSL2+
Line Coding: Trellis On
Status: No Defect
Link Power State: L0

 Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 30.4  22.0
Attenuation (dB): 6.5  0.7
Output Power (dBm): 2.4  0.8
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 26036  544
Rate (Kbps): 5119  510

This is mine when its on 4Mbps , when i had 1mbps , My SNR margin were higher (obviously)

bossnass15 and aspire2006 , it looks pretty good. aspire2006 , your output power seems to be bit high and your upload seems to be a bit pathetic , so I am not sure if the upload is able to sync at 512Kbps. It may be bit lower or some sort.

Anyway the SNR Margin cannot be too narrow (as in <30 and the noise cannot be more then 10) , then you have a chance to get 4Mbps. Obviously you can beg them to give you 4Mbps with a crappy line , but bear in mind you'll face disconnection. Few of my friends did that , and they don't mind if they get capped at 3mbps or lower then 4Mbps , as they want the IP range for 4Mbps users , as they are gamers mostly , so a better route to US and UK servers would mean a lot for them

Can 4Mb expert look at my statistic?

Prasys, how you get capped at 5?

Write them and tell them you want full 4Mbps (minus the overheads). To do that make sure your speedtest speeds are pretty bad. But then for your case if you increase the speed to 5Mbps , expect sNR margin to drop a bit . You must not do this asap , wait for 3 weeks as suggested by forumer above me. Collect 1 speed test every week and say you are not happy with the service.

I gave up entirely on youtube , buffering takes forever and forever. Its strange like hulu loads fine , CBS loads fine , BBC loads fine. Its just that youtube is having some issues

QUOTE(wan_d7 @ Dec 1 2009, 11:33 PM)
mine just now they called, ask how is it. i say now fine la, later dc again i called ya. he say, mine is unstable maybe, maybe i should take lower speed. he ask, do I really need 4mbps? i say ya i do, a lot people using. so i need faster speed. padahal now at my home nobody pun. i think my place quite ok with my snr margin 31.4. should be fine right or its just a fake number?
*
Just wait for you to get 218.111 ip range and then you'll be happier

Oh Dear

Slowly we are using Premium IP. I've noticed that it connects back to 115 sometimes. Plus youtube is pretty slow

Anyone here who subscribed to 4Mbps package but speed was capped at 6 Mbps or 8Mbps here? If yes, mind to report it what is the maximum speed test you get and the stability of the connections please?

Thanks!
*
TmNet caping works in two ways generally. If they set you at 8Mbps and even if your account is capped at 4Mbps , at most you can get is full 4Mbps (maybe say 5Mbps at most). Setting it to 8Mbps ,w ould cause SNR margin to drop , which is not recommended.

QUOTE(toadhall @ Dec 11 2009, 11:46 AM)
Checked my modem and everything seems to be fine. Up is 4096 and down is 512 and the sky is blue, etc etc.

I just called the installer and he said apparently the server didn't update my status during the night and that's why I'm still capped. According to him, the server updates every midnight and if my status wasn't updated then there must have been a server crash or something.

At least that's his excuse anyway hmm.gif

Now he's telling me to wait till midnight again and if still nothing he asked me to sms him so he can email the technical people to do it manually. What laaa... tomorrow Saturday already, if nothing happens tonight obviously nobody will be in for Sunday right? That means have to wait till Monday night till something can happen is it? Haihhh... Why can't he just email them today and be done with it already! doh.gif

Oh huh. I just did a speedtest and now I get 2.5. So I'm guessing it'll go higher later? This is what you mean slowly getting my line speed increasing, huh? hmm.gif Oh well as long as I get there in the end...

Oh and if anyone's interested, my IP's starts with 115 as well.

Wait you are not in 4Mbps route yet. The whole process takes 1 month to be exact. Im talking about getting upgraded , getting a premium IP , etc

218.111 offers the best latency , trust me. Bam , online game no longer lags. Servers to uS are just around 250ms to 300ms..I'll be playing JA , i'll take some screenshots

Anyway I am not sure they are going to allocate 218 IP. Just wait for 3 weeks+ and then ask TM later on

Again sometimes you can't get it capped at 5Mbps. That depends. Few reasons , sometimes you can get it to be capped higher.

@Dozz - The reason why we opt for 218 ip is that its very simple. Bette routing for gaming. If you're talking about speed any IP should be pretty good. The reason why we want 218 is for gaming , for Skype , thats it. Its not going to give you 5-6Mbps

@azzrul , if you're new you gotta wait. Just wait like I did. I did not rant nor asked tm to be upgraded. Poof , later they gave me 218.111 ip range. I was kinda pissed because i was capped at 4Mbps as my line was more then capable enough. So I requested for 5mbps and it was done

Just wait and wait. Trust me , I waited a long time before getting capped at 5Mbps. My reasons were simple

I'll play nice if you give me sufficient bandwidth and I promise not to go overboard. Once you get capped at 5Mbps , you will be getting full 4Mbps ! (4.2Mbps)

QUOTE(netken @ Jan 10 2010, 12:31 PM)
there's is a whole lot of confusion on the non-combo streamyx upgrade package.

some say with modem some say without.

the technician says only rm160 comes with modem, the 100 operator say yes, and another 100 operator say no, the telekom technical guy that comes say he don't really know.

technician also claims that his service order specifically says no modem to be provided. Tmnut really screw big time on this, either they advert it wrongly and somewhere along the line there is some miscom.

Either way, i am not too particular on some stupid free modem provided by them.

My own question now is my modem Aztech 605EW can achieve 4MB, some how its capped at 2MB .... any idea why?

Meaning when he connects to his Billion modem and do speedtest - it can clock in 4MB.

When i check at my Aztech - its somehow capped at 2MB only.

But when i check the aztech config - its actually connected at 5MB already.

Suspect its the modem limited speed? but i've upgraded the firmware and its ADSL2 ..  shocking.gif

You just got streamyx. The sync rate is at 5Mbps. Your account is not capped to 4Mbps , it will take 24-48 hours. The tech is using his special account (which is uncapped) to test the line potential

to all sifu, i jz got my 4mb, capped at 4096, so getting around 3300kbps in speedtest. I learnt that some of forumers are able to upgrade the cap to 5096 or higher by emailing TM. The thing is if we aredi get 80% of the subscribe speed (3.3mb for 4mb make me ineligible), how do we ask for that favor? Any of you here who had make it kind enough to guide me on how to ask for this upgrade? Thanks alot................
*
General tips

1. Wait for 1 week , do wait for a while - dont torrent , just dont misuse it

2. e-mal to them , say you are not kinda happy with the speeds , you just want at least 90% , say you are using VOIP , other critical applications. Post your SNR Margin , speed test etc

3. Wait , once upgraded then wait again for a while to get your 218.xx.xx.xxx ip address ;p

I have been told by their agents that the 5120 kbps caps are only temporary, for "testing" purposes and will be returned to 4096 kbps in the future.
*
"agents" , well if you can convinced some one in the higher authoriity to do it , it will be 5120kbps. Its simple as that. they put me in 4096kbps , I was pissed cause i was getting 2.8mbps , it did not even reach 3mbps. So after talking to some folks , well its 5120Kbps. I dont think they are going to download cause I've said to them. I dont abuse your connection 24/7 by downloading large files , or torrenting 24/7 ;P

QUOTE(eternity4av @ Jan 29 2010, 03:44 PM)
erm, i'm also facing almost the similar problem, the port had been capped into 8m, they changed the modem from aztech ones to the blue riger ones, but the speed it's still 1.5mbps, should i also have to wait as well? by the way, it's my 8th day .
*
Then call em , get it capped to 4096kbps at least first. Post your Modem DSL Status

can anyone confirm if my line is able to upgrade to 4Mb package?
any idea if it can support 5120kb sync rate?

thanks for your replies

Downstream seems to be bad , but again it can , but the question is 4096Kbps is possible but then its going to cause a lot of disconnections

You're still limited to your account speed (aka 4mbps , its capped at 4mbps). So nothing much , even if they set it at 100Mbps , you're still going to get around umm 500 , maybe at most 600 !

My speed now... 4mbps package... is slower than 512kbps @@... is this problem caused by DSLAM? my fren living in 500m away have fast connection.

Normal youtube video sucks , however if I buffer RTSPE (encrypted youtube streams) such as the ones from Channel 4 , I am getting full speed and if you take a look at it , its fully buffered

Sorry for the crappy screenshot:P

For normal youtube streams , its pretty slow , however for encrypted (region specific) youtube streams , its pretty good !
