i wonder is it just me or all 4mb users (218.111.X.X ip)experiencing slow streaming of youtube. i'm able to get full speed only during these hours:
Mon-Sat 1-11am
Sun full day

i did complain and they put me to another IP range. but the result was still the same. my friend who is on 60.X.X.X ip has no such issue.

I found that certain 218.111 can't go max out being capped at 250kB/sec

Switching back to 115 full speed ahead
*
bro mx510, I found out my new ip 115 is much slower than my previous 60.48.

previously 1.5mb with 60.48, download from megaupload, xun6, freakshare all almost getting more than 100kb/s. but now, 4mb with 115/110/175, are sux, download less than 20kb/s... so I'm paying more but getting less than before sweat.gif

update: finally got 218.111 ip with 5mb, location: raja uda, butterworth (penang)

btw, I got a dead ip, 218.111.22.XX. whenever I got this ip, there is no connection at all.

Wednesday go to TM point asked for technician number at 1pm and 3pm called the technician. Then technician come to setup at 5:30pm. Thursday(Today) about 10:30am go to speed test, realize that got 218 ip. All of these done in four days. rclxms.gif

Hi all,
Just succesfully upgraded to 4mb package last monday.
( it takes arround 10 days. included 2 times upgrade fail, 2 times technician break promise  )

So far i only get 110 , 115 and 175 ip's.
Keep on reconnecting around 30times on morning , afternoon , evening ,
but never get 218.111 ip so far.

Is there something wrong about my account?

call 100 a few times but they say because you are the dynamic ip and not fixed ip blablabla...

Anyone have the same problem ?
If have any solutions about it . please give some hint to me.
Really thanks.

(By the way the reason that i need to get the 218.111 ip is because im using my line connecting
100% to japan server (skype , meeting , games ...etc) and the 110 115 175 ip's is bad for me.
(high ping , non-stable ping , frequent time out etc...)
I understand that 218.111 ip is not perfect for everyone but i'll like to give a try.)

Thank you for reading my post and sorry about my bad english.

so now your modem shows your port speed is 4mb and higher?

I went to TM Point to upgrade my 512kb streamyx package (registered 6 years ago, but 3 years ago got 1.5mb) to blockbuster deal 4mb package. My internet down for a while on tuesday around 3pm, and when getting back connection, I immediately log into modem, the speed increased from 1.5mb to 2mb, and the IP range changed to 110/115/175 from 60.48/60.50/124.32, which is much slower. So, went to TM Point again on wednesday and asked for technician number. Called around 3pm and he came to setup at 5:30pm. Got full 5mb speed and 218 ip on thursday. All of these done in 4 days. thumbup.gif

actually g.dmt can support up to 10mbps, you can check it on attainable rates in your modem.

Means, no need to change to mode ADSL2+ in order to get 4mbps.
Last time, I got fren worked in Tm and asked him to upgrade my cap to highest possible (im on 512kps package). He set it to 8mbps and give me special streamyx id to test it out. I can get 800kB/sec - 900kB/sec for rapidshare download. On that time, my dsl mode is only g.dmt.

Conclusion, you can try to convince tm people just to upgrade ur cap to 4mbps with g.dmt dsl mode, no need to change to ADSL2+. Based on wikipedia, g.dmt mode capable to support speed up to 10mbps and ADSL2+ up to 24mbps.

yes, I'm using g.dmt mode as well. In fact, I noticed that I'll get the correct speed 5120(dl) and 512(ul) for g.dmt, but with ADSL2+, I got 5092(dl) and 509(ul) only, which is kinda weird number.

ok, now you email to TM and request for 218 ip from them. if still not working, complaint to skmm. smile.gif

the reason you must get 218 ip because the ip range u got now is very sux compare to 60.48.

Did you even bother reading few pages back. It has been answered there. All you've to do is just wait , at least for a month. I doubt they give away 218.x.x.x ip easily these days as there are lot of folks who are jumping into the 4Mbps train
*
1 month? not really, I upgrade mine to 4mb on monday(12/4) and got 5mbps with 218 ip on thursday(15/4). All done within 4 days.

QUOTE(prasys @ May 19 2010, 11:14 PM)
Routing , 218.111 is one of the earliest IP range which TM ever owned I think and it so far offers the best connectivity to just about anywhere. Currently its reserved either for static IP or for some lucky 4Mbps users. Back in the days when streamyx was 384kbps/512kbps , mostly everyone did get this IP and thats why streamyx rocked. As then things started to get bigger and bigger you have more ip ranges , more routing and these routing do suck

Sad news is that ever since CoolUniPack has been introduced and the new Broadband plans , its no longer possible to get these IP addresses anymore. Last time you could bug TM and they would assign to you. Now they wouldn't even do that as they have run out of 218. ip range (heh , its time to move on to ipv6).

A lot of 4Mbps users are losing their 218.x.x.x godly IP Address. I am not sure why , you can try e-mailing TM by the way if you're a long time 4Mbps user ! Just tell that you're concerned about latency and not downloading and most likely they would give you. But then dont go and start downloading like there is no tomorrow , else they might kick you out of 218.x.x.x ip range and give you the crappy 115.

yes, totally agree with you. 6 years back ago got my 512kb streamyx, its very easy to get 218.111 or 218.208 ip. At that time, 218.208 is the best ip in term of latency and speed. Somehow, 2 or 3 years ago (cant remember well), internet down for about 1hour at midnight, connected back, no more 218 ip, but fortunately still getting 60.48, consider as good too, but the bad latency especially to china website. now got 4mb BB, asked to cap 5mb (thanks to the technician), next day got 218 ip and my latency to china website is back, hehe... however, the downside is there are some 'dead' 218 ip and not easy to connected compared as last time.

The tmnet guy came and install the modem and setup 4mpbs package this morning. After he left, I checked the speed with speedtest it was only 1.4mpbs-1.5mpbs which is my old package speed.

The modem did show
Rate (Kbps): 4096/511

SNR Margin (dB): 30.8/28.3
Attenuation (dB): 21.0/8.6

Should I wait for couple days to lodge a complaint?

thanks  smile.gif

very good line, 4mb still manage to get 31db for the snr, can asked the technician capped at more higher speed thumbup.gif
