capped at 6Mbps?
how?...he just capped there naturally?

Yup. The TM Tech has to set at 2 places.

1 - The junction box that's connected to your line
2 - Software based through his laptop that he brings in.

But according the guy that did mine, he said he can't set it any higher and it wouldn't make that much of a difference as the main capping is still at the DSLAM. Just that my local capping allows me to get the FULL 4Mb rather than 70%.

He said since there's less than 5 apartments in my building that is using 4Mb package, I don't have to share with hundreds of others. Also, the local exchange junction box is located on the ground floor of my apartment. The surrounding apartments have to share with mine too, but most of the people here are old and they only sign up for 1Mb package.

The new sign ups all heading towards PenangFon instead. So, less users here = all the more for me.

I callled that bugger up and he refused to cap me to 5mb, and he gave some granma story that ip address is static (duh i know that) so he cannot change my ip to 115 or 218.

So please advise what can i do ???

Urg! Had them try change port again this time also bad SNR 17.4db but stable compare to previous one which kept jumping from 15-21db.

Seems I get good SNR was at older equipment Alcatel's port. Now I am not sure what I am connect to (Riger shows Vendor ID: 0039), they didn't give a good answer. All these was due to me complaining about few dead ips. Instead of troubleshooting those ips they just simply shift me to different equipment. *sigh*

Right now new port shows:
Dlink 520b 17.4db
Billion Bipac 5112s 18db
Riger db102 21.5db
Previously on Alcatel's port was 26-28db!

My current router shows the current result:

Noise margin (dB)
19.1 23.5

Output power (dBm)
18.2 12.3

Attenuation (dB)
57.5 29.8

My SNR Margin seems to be ok to apply for 4mb, but my attenuation seems really high. Any possible way i can fix my attenuation?

Thank you.

Can tmnut really change our ip range ???

Or is their excuse it's by area only valid? I tried asking them to change to 115 or 218 but they say they can't is this true?

If you're 4mb user you should be able to get them to give you premium ip range (218). Try talk to customer service level 2 about it.

Question for 4 MB users...

What kinda download speeds do you get using uTorrent? Really interested in upgrading here, just wanna know what I'm getting into before.

Also, how is the 4 MB package comparable to the 1.5 MB one?

All answers would be appreciated. Thanks. smile.gif

can i use this to make tmnut give me the ip range i need? Or should i just mail mcmc about it first?

bro moogle,

when u do speedtest u can choose seri kembangan/penang/etc as location of testing, that is our LOCAL server. by default it will be set to the nearest server

and speedometer, i believe they already in our local.lol

and if u r not getting 4mbps, u can request from them, just use the proper channel like many others already said before in previous replies.

the basic steps is,
1) do a few speedtest and capture the screen.

2) call 100, report that u r not getting the speed u want. I personally advise to do this after 14 days of installation since below 14 days we are tied to the techician warranty. from what i read, most people complain that their technician is the stubborn and hardest part to convince to cap our speed more than 4096. yeah, technician sucks including mine. but some do have good technician which will cap ur speed to 5mb instantly with just one call.

3) after one day, complain to CFM at http://complaint.cfm.org.my/ explaining that u r not getting full speed from the speedtest. attach the screenshot that u got.

4) in most cases, u will receive a call from TM the next day and they will cap ur speed higher than before after that.

I called them 2 days ago and the technician refused to cap 5mb at port and also give the 115 or 218 ip range (as such i have no ticket number since i get passed onto the useless technician)

should i report mcmc now? Also what should i say besides providing my speedometer screenshot. Will they accept that i need to be 5mb capped and get either 115 or 218 ip range ?

Lazy excuses by lazy people.

Report to their higher level or the correct channels to get your thing.
I know...it's harder to get things done properly here.
Lazy people will always give lazy excuses but they don't know that they can only fool themselves.
They don't realise that doing things properly will save them in future and all the complaints as well as followups.

It is not true and it was they shouldn't be selling 4mbps at all.

They have nothing to lose as your line is still capped by your account itself meaning even if they can offer 100mbps on your phone line, your speed is still stuck at 4m.

u are lucky.

Thx to all of u, just now talk to level 2 CS and their service is fast, after 30minutes, they call back for testing the line and it was now in 4MB range compare to before 1MB.

The only thing left is i cant even get 3.2MB, speedtest shown 2.9MB only. Will monitor a few days then call them back for adjustment.
For those who is still in their 1MB speed even after u activate 4MB, you really have to call them thru 100 and tell them put u to lvl 2.
