QUOTE(convivencia @ Dec 10 2009, 08:49 PM) data rate don't mean dodo Your modem may show 4096 Kbbps but Tipu Malaysia always cap your line when it reaches their end anyway The real deal is what you get on speed test, in your case, you are getting 1.5Mbps Added on December 10, 2009, 8:55 pmwhat the .... just now you said 4Mb users all routed to BRAS, away from the clouds now you say good, it's under the "premier ip cloud" pulak !!! which one is which la !!! all tm broadband users will be routed to BRAS. it will assign IP & speed accordingly to the package. for all 4mb customers, the BRAS will automatically assign it a premier IP.

Just called them today, I think the 3 weeks waiting period is up now They'll see on why I'm getting less than 2Mbps while using their bandwith test (download speed is around 1700kbps at time, latency 17ms, upload speed at 400kbps). I was talking to the second level support and they'll either recap me at dslam to higher speed or will send someone to investigate. They were talking about the phone wire split .. but I believe that should not be a problem since speedtest.net gave me around 3.4Mbps (tho' their speedtest giving half of the value).. will wait for few days on what action they've done and see if mine can be improved.. I could only say .. wow.. some of us still could not pass the 3.5Mbps mark from speedtest.net.

I'm currently subscribing to the $88 per month 1MB package. I just came back from TM Point to upgrade my package to the 4MB Upgrade Incentive Promo ($130 per month).
According to the initial check, my area supports 4MB, but they would have to test if that speed is achievable in my area first (I'm guessing because I'm the first one to have a 4MB line there). The TM person told me that because of that I would be disconnected for a whole week while they conduct the test. If successful, the technician will come and give me a brand new modem. I asked if I can still use my Prolink Hurricane 9000G modem but she said no... only TM approved modems can be used for 2M and 4M lines. If unsuccessful, they will have to downgrade me back to 1M.
Of course, I take everything TM tells me with a grain of salt, so my question to you guys who have successfully upgraded to 4M is this: what's the procedure actually like? Is there a one week "blackout"? Would only TM modems be able to handle 4M line as she described?

Why don't you use the one provided by TM? I got it for free .. but looking at the specs, your modem might be able to take the 4Mbps w/o problem. Anyway, the technician will come to your house, bringing their modem and make a necessary adjustment and shouldn't take a week to have it tested.

Nope, at least not on mine .. the only downtime is when the guy came, disconnect my router from the modem and asking my PC directly connected to the modem.. somehow, the guys said .. I want to bypass your router (for whatever reason .. ) ..

Thanks, bro. That made me relieved somewhat... the idea of being disconnected for a week made me worried a bit. :lol
