Actually what's wrong with using google map given on the iphone?
they are always 90% accurate for me.
they only thing, there's no girl voice saying 'turn left' nor 'rerouting'

thats a disadvantage for using google map mate...the voice is needed for us to hear n follow the command without need to look on the map every 5 seconds... nod.gif

Also, google map (or if you use nokia ovi maps on nokia phones) need to download the map constantly using data-plan. That will use up a lot of the quota.

Also, google map POI is not as extensive as MFM inside Papago.

I think our only option for a complete Malaysia map on iPhone is Papago!

Dont think Garmin will release a Malaysia Version though... If got, early release already...

But considered lucky already got at least 1 GPS app using MFM map.. Before when I get iPhone 3GS, dont have a good GPS app.

I got Papago M8 but i failed to get it working. When i access to it, i choose POI search, set Jln bukit Bintang as the destination, then it will calculate the route. After that, the screen just idle with arrows path along. I'm actually outside (driving) and my Setting, General, Location is on. I've try all the setting but still the screen just dont move and scroll. What could be the problem?

just wondering whether you have use other dedicated satnav app..Google maps looks good because it's satellite mapping along with hybrid images. BUT:

1. The street names are usually not exactly tally or correct in the first place
2. Lack of POI and rarely updated map. sometimes no viewable map at a particular location at all
3. Routing? ah..sometimes it can't start the navigation from the current location, instead it starts the navigation from nearby location! Amazing!
4. In iPhone, Google maps viewed as 2D which is not exactly the best view for navigation. I meant, come on we are not birds ok biggrin.gif
5. Junction view, AR mode, nearby POI, lane assist, tunnel simulation and the list goes on..All of these functions are not for fancy only, it really helps in navigation, something that really lacking in Google maps

Try Waze, it's something like Google Maps + Social Networking that comes with the feature GPS Navigation + Live Traffic Updates + FREE!!

Waze map are useless. Waze is only good for traffic updates/reporting, especially during peak hours.

Google map is useless, unless you have unlimited data plan and at good coverage area (3G/HSDPA), otherwise loading of the map will be slow.

For offline maps, the best is to stick with Papago, Sygic, etc.

What happen to the safety requirements of 'keeping your eyes on the road'!

BTW Papago M8pro at USD25 = ~RM80 is not very expensive!

For the price, it's not expensive. But the problem is that there are many users who have problems running the app... rendering their RM80 wasted.
If the app is rock stable, I'm sure many will buy the app happily.

You play with your phone. But for people who actually have to use the phone for navigation, they will laugh their heads off at your comment.

And BTW, try playing with your iphone and Google maps when you go overseas and see what will happen. Either you are super rich or you will get a heart attack receiving your next phone bills.
