QUOTE(NewbieHero @ Jan 9 2011, 02:40 AM) nope dont nid data plan to work. to me, it doesnt really respond well and accurate due to its laggy interface. however some users find it okay. depends on users preference. laggy when compared to what? more laggy than GMXT?

The maps in iphone are downloaded when needed. Hence 3G connection is a must if u need the navigation fast. However, u can't preload map into the app unlike garmin mxt or ovi map.

I just downloaded Papago M6 Lite on my 3GS. IMO, the interface is super ugly. Settings are too little. Although it's using the Mfm, the POI doesn't show the special custom icons. Tried it by walking around my area in pedestrian mode. Sometimes the map doesn't show the correct orientation/ heading. I think the iPhone built in Maps app is awesome in terms of pedestrian navigating mode, thanks to the compass that is tied to the app.
For vehicle mode, gotta try it tomorrow to my office, see how it competes with Garmin Mobile XT on Nokia N78.
Is there any GPS app that uses the built in compass?

Just now tried papago m6 lite from work back to home. i think it updates the gps data less than garmin mxt although the display is a lot more smoother on the papago. this can be clearly seen when turning into a junction. eats battery quite fast too compare to gmxt on my n78. for the voice/speech, it is talking too much compare to garmin, but i hate the accent..it's like computer speaking. i prefer the american lady accent on my garmin.
overall, i think the papago app cannot make my iphone as a personal navigation device. it will be helpful as a last resort/desperate/emergency situation where u need to get to a place without anyone guiding you. i hope that garmin iphone app can reach malaysia with new features such as direct drag and grop img file into itunes for simple map updating.

The position of the point never follow my current position (speed too). my papago m6 works fine on my 3gs. correct positioning. but i've seen my friend's papago m8 on the iphone that's showing position lagging behind 50-100 meters away

I'm on Papago M6 lite. No problem so far on my 3GS. I just hope that the map will be updated in the future, perhaps a free update to m8 lite.

QUOTE(victorian @ Oct 8 2011, 05:18 PM) Is there any offline map ? I mean using it without 3G/Data . Not GPS actually . Just a map Papago uses offline map QUOTE(DarkNite @ Oct 15 2011, 03:42 PM) What happen to the safety requirements of 'keeping your eyes on the road'! BTW Papago M8pro at USD25 = ~RM80 is not very expensive! For the price, it's not expensive. But the problem is that there are many users who have problems running the app... rendering their RM80 wasted. If the app is rock stable, I'm sure many will buy the app happily.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ May 26 2012, 02:25 PM) Can the maps be downloaded and hence work without Internet connection? the app description says it works without internet...thus the big file size. Added on May 27, 2012, 1:37 ami've been using papago m6 lite since 2010. till today, there's no map update. feels like being cheated by maction. i hope the garmin map will be updated as mentioned. it'll be better if it's mfm (some says msm better in sabah & sarawak). AVOID Papago M6 Lite. Map never updated since 2010. Wasted my money on buying the app. if u read the user reviews/comments for papago and garmin streetpilot, both have lots of negative feedback about instability. what's wrong with the app developer nowadays? why can't they make sth stable. Papago M6 Lite users can now update to M8 Lite for free.
Anyone checked what's the map version in it?
