Edifier R501,Altec Lansing MX5021 if you are gonna buy the z2300 be prepared as there is ridiculous amount of bass and poor quality satellites speakers that means you'll require a good soundcard to increase the performance of the z2300

That is true. Need a good onboard or sound card. Sounds fine when i was using onboard Realtek but if your onboard is Via, need to get a sound card already. So far i am very satisfied with the speakers, alot of bass(can reduce it) and can shake your roof, literally!

Hmm, not sure if that is sarcastic reply or what but from what i can see, when i play loud music, my roof vibrates, glass/mugs/plates vibrates in the kitchen and also sometimes it can shift things on my computer table. From outside my room, sounds like the woofer koyak already because windows are rattling so much.
Bass wise very satisfied but they could have done a little better with the satts. If i wanna watch movies, i usually turn down the bass, or else the bass clouds the vocals.
The reason i didnt go with Edifier is because i have a couple of friends who have them and all spoilt after warranty finish. To be fair, this was few years back, maybe they have improved their quality now. Hope this Logitech will survive.

Haha yeah, the purpose of a subwoofer is just to produce bass and low midrange sound, not to shake the house heh. Not sure how you're able to shake the roof, because I weren't able to shake my kampung house with floorstanding loudspeaker (have few from 10-12" woofers) when I was ah beng days last time.
Now I no more love for seismic sounds lor, going to flat response sounds now. I prefer the edifier MP221 over my 10 year old 2.1 because the 2.1 sound is just horrible now, very boomy but bass notes are just indiscernible. I still had another 5.1 though heh (bass knob only turned a little).

the main reason why big ass subs are built is to create deep bass that normally can't be heard but because it has side effects like shake the house, that's one problem

If i have budget for MX5021, any other considerations? I love its sound, i think the clarity is nice enough for my ears. Btw, i've heard about newer batch of MX5021 is having lower SQ, how to differentiate them? Or now all shops selling newer batch?

The Good Old One » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The New One » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « notice the speaker cone design is different so you gotta find the old one which have a line on the speaker cone. that's the good one but I bet you can't find any of them because it's gone forever
