s730 itself is amplified speaker, connecting to an amp (again) will damage the electronics

flac is lossless format, nothing to do with surround
most logitech 5.1 system came with "matrix" emulated surround sound function

the movie /music content itself have to be encoded 5.1 format, else you just use matrix function of speaker or player plugin.

mostly it depends on your ears and also it depends on what is your previous system. if you're looking for a "huge" upgrade, then probably Edifier S550 or Logitech Z5500 fits the requirement. otherwise, something like Edifier R501 (rm400) should be good enough. one of the key points from the Logitech Z5500 is that it has versatile connection, it accepts optical and digital input such as if you're using PS3 or X360. an advantage if u have PS3 or X360.

any nice usb speakers for laptop? i used logitech s100 before and the sound aren't that nice. Is the edifier MP210 really nice? Although kinda pricey.

okay.thx for all the explanation.i've decided to get a 5.1. my budjet is about rm600 like that.so was thinking either the r501 or the da5000.did thought of the s550.but not sure i should be spending that much for the speakers for now.but yeaa..kinda tempted as well. bout the r501..kinda worries me bout the only control is on the remote..they do tend to drop a lot =/ any comment on the edifier da5000 guys?

hye! i just curious..is the ps3 slim build in audio quality same as expensive soundcard or dac in the market? currently i'm just wondering is it wise to spent expensive sc for my lappy or just listening my music via ps3..one of the ps3 features is, it does support dolby true hd and dts hd master audio..my speakers is al mx5021..thx!

Hey guys just dropped over to enquire, I'm searching for a set of speakers for my room. Budget would be <RM300. ~RM200 if possible. Primarily using it to watch english series and anime. Would you guys suggest a few models for the stated use?

I would appreciate it if the suggested product is available in Lowyat, as i usually do my gadget shopping there

If u like vocal song then u must give MP210 a try.

Do try out the Altec Lansing VS4121 as well, it's quite suitable for movie watching.

it's annoying,too much midbass.

the pro have a tweeter added to each satellite and center speaker, giving much nicer sounding trebles and enhanced vocals.Plus the satellite enclosure is made out of MDF wood
the old one doesn't have tweeter,instead they have dual midrange speakers in each sats and it's enclosure is made out of plastic which isn't very good.

oh..hm.but not sure i can get the pro at my place here tho..compare to r501 which one perform better with the original da5000.HCS5640 seems to be within my budjet range.but cant really find much review on it.

Well then what about a 2.1 set with good midrange and clarity costing around RM200? Is the Edifier M3300 or E3100 a good choice?

any pro please give info about this question..i also owns a ps3 which i dont know how good is the audio quality.......

that I don't know because to me it sounded about the same
I'd say choose da5000 because can adjust through the sub instead plus some treble volume function.
it'll be dangerous if you lose the remote if you buy r501

but that's your choice,R501 for cheap and DA5000pro for safety and extra function.
test the speakers yourself if got the chance

thx again powe911.you've been very helpfull.tried to test some of the speakers just now.too bad cant find both r501 and the da5000 at the shops here..a lot of those sonicgear and some brand i neverheard of..im gonna try look for more tomorow.how bout the HCS5640?care to elaborate more a bit on the awesomeness? =)

I actually liked the da5000pro sound quality but because hcs5640 have more functions like radio,usb,sd card,etc and also the external amp. I'd choose them more than sound quality.

also please avoid sonic gear.

well.my guy only can get the da5000 for me..his supplier dont have the pro one..havent ask him bout the hcs5640 yet tho.so for now..its either the da5000 or maybe the hcs5640.both which i doubt i can find here..so testing it first before ordering em, is not likely gonna happen..so yea.m relying a lot on other's reviews now..trying to get the da5000pro from other people would cost a lot for the postage n everything.
