Hello! I'm thinking of getting a PB Day2Day card but I have some questions regarding it.

1. Is internet banking for Day2Day real-time? Or is it only an e-statement at the end of the month?

2. Can I add funds to my Paypal account with Day2Day Card? If yes, does anyone know how long it would take? Because I'm in a hurry to buy something online.

3. Is there anything that I should take into notice when I apply for the card? What is the verified by visa function?

4. I've also noticed that you could use the card to pay for petrol. Is this possible at all major petrol kiosk e.g. Petronas?

I have a savings account and I plan to request for internet banking when I apply for my Day2Day card. I know that a Visa Electron may be better for online transactions but I'm taking into the fact that you can get Day2Day on the same day and it has a cheaper annual fee. Besides, the amount of money in my savings account isn't much, probably enough to buy what I want online.. and I plan to use it as a prepaid function (like Visa Electron) when I need to use it. My main bank account is my CIMB account and I could just transfer it over when I have to.

Anyways, looking forward to all your guidance. thank you in advance for your help and happy new year~ smile.gif

im currently having the public islamic saving account, is it true that if i want to apply foy PBd2d debit card i have to open a normal saving account?

Depends on what kind of Public Islamic Bank savings account is that. If it's a Basic Savings Account-i (Public Islamic Bank calls it Basic Wadiah Savings Account-i), then you can't. But if it's a regular Wadiah Savings Account-i (Public Islamic Bank calls it simply as Wadiah Savings Account-i without the word Basic), then yes. You can upgrade your current ATM card to the PBB D2D VISA debit card free of charge.

QUOTE(Molotov Cocktail @ Jan 3 2010, 11:46 PM)
Can't i use my current saving account to apply for the card, as i know the amount use using debit card will directly debited from my saving account but why i need to open another saving account because both is public bank saving account, im so confused
Yes. You can apply using your PBB current account such as ACE account. You can directly upgrade your current Blue ATM card to the new PBB D2D VISA debit card.

1. Is internet banking for Day2Day real-time? Or is it only an e-statement at the end of the month?
Define real-time. Real-time as in the amount charged will show up in your PBB e-banking portal right away or what ?

Anyway, just like credit card, any amount swiped will not be shown in your online banking account until a few working days later. But they will deduct the amount right away from your account and it will be shown in your PBB e-banking portal as the amount "hold".

No. You can't. This is not possible with any Malaysian issued debit card/credit card or Malaysian savings/current account.

However, this doesn't mean you can't pay for anything through Paypal. Just get your PBB D2D VISA debit card verified, then they will deduct the amount directly from your Public Bank account.

QUOTE(su10 @ Jan 4 2010, 12:36 AM)
3. Is there anything that I should take into notice when I apply for the card? What is the verified by visa function?

The main purpose of Verified by VISA is to prevent unauthorized online usage of your debit/credit card as it will ask for a password before the payment can go through but many sites haven't adopted this thing yet. However, please note that your PBB D2D VISA will still work fine at online sites that do not ask for your Verified by VISA password.

4. I've also noticed that you could use the card to pay for petrol. Is this possible at all major petrol kiosk e.g. Petronas?

Yes. It is possible but it is NOT advisable to swipe at the petrol kiosk. Instead, it is recommended that one pay at the cashier counter after you have pumped the petrol into your car. This is because if you pay later at the cashier counter, only exact amount pumped will be charged to your card. But if you pay at the petrol kiosk, RM200 will be hold by the bank (it is the same with any banks, not just Public Bank) and remaining balance will only be refunded to your account a few days later.

As for why the bank is going to hold RM200 from your account if you pay at the petrol kiosk, please go back 1-2 pages. There are very detailed explanations there.

Thank you very much Miles! Appreciate it!
Yup, that's what I meant by real-time.. as in, it will show up in my online bank account after a few days rather than having to wait till the end of the month. haha, wrong choice of words I guess? Thanks for clearing my doubts! smile.gif

Do not open a Basic Savings Account with Maybank. Maybank's Kawanku Savings Account is much better. Just insist that you do not want to pay annual fee for the ATM/VISA debit card as you are now allowed to either choose to pay RM8/pa for unlimited withdrawals or pay nothing and get 4 FREE** withdrawals a month.

**From the 5th withdrawal onwards in a month, RM0.50 will be charged per withdrawal. If the 5th, 6th withdrawal and so on made when your account is no less than RM5,000, no penalty will be charged.

Hmm..today i just went to Maybank to open another Kawanku Savings Account for the free debit card but the bank officers told me that I cannot have MORE THAN ONE savings account. I already have a basic saving account with MBB previously with ATM card. I hope to avoid paying the RM12 conversion fee. I just need to confirm here whether it is really true. Anyone here manage to have multiple saving accounts with maybank? What excuses you all used? They also claimed that joint account with MBB nowadays must be blood related. Gone the chance for me to open one with my gf. gosh...

p.s. btw, milesandmore, i don't seem to get the benefits of Kawanku saving acc from basic saving acc. Mind to elaborate? Thanks a lot!

1) I think if same branch, cannot open more than one account of the same type. I'm not 100% sure but I do have multiple Kawanku savings in different branches
2) No need to convert, tell them you want to cancel the ATM card (and after that you can apply for the debit card)

How long ago you last open another saving accounts in Maybank?I actually trying to open that new account at different state than my 1st saving account. The bank officers didn't even bother to ask me which branch for my 1st account. Hmm...considering the unfairness...or do I need to hide the fact from them that I didn't possess any Maybank account previously?

For your second suggestion, I highly doubt it will work. Else they won't impose the conversion fee. Any successful cases?

hmm.gif , my accounts were openned long time ago

as for the 2nd suggestions, why wouldn't it work?
you tell them you want to cancel the atm card - so fill in a form and it's done
then only u tell them you want to apply the debit card, viola - no more charge since there's no more atm card to convert rclxm9.gif

Someone also previously said that Maybank does not allow its customer to have more than 1 savings account in another thread. Not sure if this only apply within the same branch or what. I suggest you try to open another savings account at another branch.

That is because Kawanku Savings Account and Basic Savings Account are two very different account. Overall, Kawanku Savings Account is much better.

Only the Public Bank MEPS ATM card needs its cardholder to enter the card's PIN number.
Yes. It comes with some T&C though. For example, i am allowed to withdraw cash from the ATM only 8 times in a month, after that there is a penalty of RM1 for each subsequent withdrawals. Unlike your current ATM card which you pay RM8 per annum, you can use it as many times as you like. Strictly no penalty at all !
That is because your savings account type is either a :
- PLUS Savings Account
- SaveLink Account
- PLUS Current Account
- CurrentLink Account
- ACE Account
- Wadiah Savings Account-i
- Wadiah Current Account-i

All the account types mentioned above all charge RM8/pa for a regular MEPS ATM card (red or blue color one) and RM12/pa for PBB Day2Day VISA. I believe yours is a PLUS Savings Account.

I thought yellow passbook is for kid's account ? Mine is totally in red. The passbook for my PLUS Savings Account is already shown in my previous post.
Of course they have to charge it under debit because it is a debit card. The machine will be automatically recognized the card as debit card without the cashier entering anything to it.

All ATM cards with either VISA/Mastercard logo printed on the front will not required you to enter your PIN number when you use it to pay for any bills.
Probably because they have ran out of Basic Savings Account passbook when you opened your Basic Savings Account then. So they just gave you the PLUS Savings Account passbook.

Anyway, have decided to scan my Basic Savings Account passbook and post it up here.

That's the passbook you get when you opened a savings account with Public Finance instead of Public Bank. But since 2004, the two companies have merged under one single entity, so I think your account will have been automatically converted to Public Bank's saving account.

Really ? I'm using PLUS Savings myself, the one from Public Bank itself. My friend on the other hand, has Wadiah Savings Account-i from Public Islamic Bank and she converted her blue ATM card to the PBB D2D VISA debit recently at no extra charge. They didn't say Wadiah Savings Account-i from Public Bank isn't eligible for the PBB D2D VISA debit. So i believe those eligible account holders from Public Islamic Bank can simply convert their red or blue ATM card to D2D VISA too without opening a new account from the parent company aka Public Bank.

You can call their credit card processing centre in KL and ask them what's the status of your application. If it's been approved and they have couriered it out, you just don't activate it or deposit any money into the account when you receive the card.

However, how do I withdraw my money? Withdraw to my bank account? It requires my full name to be accurate and match the bank here?

My full name is Chong Bee Eng, but it's surname is now Eng, followed by Chong. The middle name were left blank in the check out page. How and what should I do now? sad.gif

Your first name in Paypal system should be "Bee Eng", follows by surname "Chong". Middle name should be left blank. Try to change it yourself.

You have to ask them what type of account is that. The minimum initial deposit for Kawanku Savings is RM250 while Basic Savings is just RM20. So what is the minimum initial deposit they asked you to deposit into your account ? Anyway, it's still better to confirm with them what account exactly you're holding.
