I cant use my maybank debit card lately..
i cant check my account balance and withdraw money.
what happen to my debit card??

Most probably something happened to your debit card's chip. Visit your Maybank home branch to seek their assistance. I'm sure they will be willing to help you. Though from my last frustrating experience with MBB, you should be careful when handling with their bank officers. Never give in to any special fee they 'charged' you unless you confirmed from other sources. Show to MBB we aren't any naive customers! rclxm9.gif

Yes, I tried it already. Work smoothly and there's no extra charge by either party, yet. biggrin.gif

For the case of Genting such as First World Hotel, Resort Hotel and Theme Park Hotel, only exact amount will be charged. The minimum balance to maintain for Kawanku Savings Account is RM1. Let say the room at First World Hotel is RM200 for two nights, you need to have at least RM201 in your savings account to let the payment to go through. So basically, you just need to check what kind of Maybank account you are holding and what is the minimum balance to maintain your account.

However, it works a bit differently for other hotel booking. First World Hotel at Genting doesn't need extra deposit from us when checking in but most other hotels require us to put a few hundred Ringgit more.

For debit card, let's say you are just making a reservation. Will they need to charge the full amount to the hotel?

We can do that easily using credit card. what about debit card? will it has the same function?

Thanks bro for the enlightenment. Mine is just a normal savings account, however, no big issue, as it's the same since there will be no holding of funds from my account =)

Yup, full amount will be charged, the difference between debit card, and credit card is that debit card deducts the $ directly from your savings/current account, while credit card requires you to pay up all the swipes you have made at a particular day, depending on various banks. Debit, and credit, says all....

As far as i know, an amount of money will be put on hold for a period of time. Probably until you check-out or the reservation lapses.

I'm planning to apply a debit card soon but I don't know the differences between,

Maybankard MasterCard Platinum Debit

and

Maybankard Visa Debit

The Platinum debit requires Premier Account while the Visa requires any savings/current account.

I've tried the "Find the right account" that the website provided and I ticked College/Uni students and Online accounts and it leads me to Maybank2u.Premier.

I realized that it's a current account but I think I don't need a current account since I am just a student.

So if I just open a saving account then I can apply the Visa Debit while the current account can get me a Platinum Debit.

I'm still a University student so which one would suit me the most?

The MBB visa debit will do for uni student like you. I don't think you need any current account unless you run your own business/trading etc.

A Kawanku Savings Account with Maybank Cherry VISA debit card will suit you just fine. You need RM250 to open the account and only RM1 minimum balance to maintain the account.

Yes. People have been successfully paying for a room via genting.com.my using either their Public Bank Day2Day VISA or Maybank Cherry VISA.

That is the Premier 1 Current Account. Premier2u Current Account requires you to maintain only RM1k at all time to avoid any fee.

No. Because it's just a debit card. They add the word Platinum to it just so that it sounds more glamorous.
