What colour is your passbook? Is that yellow in colour?
No. It's red in color. The cover design is very plain compared to my PLUS Savings Account and it is written as BASIC Savings Account on the front.

But mine one is yellow colour, written as saving account. Is that any different with the red colour that you mention?

I think the cashier don't know difference between "bankcard" and also "visa/master" logo that printed at the card.
Most of the ATM card printed with "bankcard".
If you are using bankcard to purchase good, you must key in the pin at the terminal to make a transaction.
http://www.pbebank.com/en/en_content/perso...ers/edebit.html

For visa and master logo card, all you need to do is sign at the receipt that printed from the terminal.
If you feel suspicious with the cashier go to check whether the terminal accept bankcard or credit card.

even if the card does appear master/visa logo they still charge it under debit instead of credit

If like this, probability they didn't know how to operate the terminal.

i'm not sure about the colour
both my basic and plus savings account use the same passbook - the cover printed PLUS Savings Account

but if you look inside, beside the account number, 1 printed "Basic Savings Account" and the other one printed "Plus Savings Account"

I thought yellow passbook is for kid's account ? Mine is totally in red. The passbook for my PLUS Savings Account is already shown in my previous post.

Of course they have to charge it under debit because it is a debit card. The machine will be automatically recognized the card as debit card without the cashier entering anything to it.

All ATM cards with either VISA/Mastercard logo printed on the front will not required you to enter your PIN number when you use it to pay for any bills.

Probably because they have ran out of Basic Savings Account passbook when you opened your Basic Savings Account then. So they just gave you the PLUS Savings Account passbook.

Anyway, have decided to scan my Basic Savings Account passbook and post it up here.

Just a note to all Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card users. You can now set your preferred daily purchase limit at any Public Bank ATM nationwide. The lowest amount is RM0 and the highest is RM5000. Previously it was all set at RM2000 per day maximum and you can't change it.
Some corrections to my earlier post. The maximum daily purchase limit for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card is RM10,000, not RM5,000 as said.

The maximum withdrawal limit per day remains unchanged at RM5,000.

^^

It's good that Public bank let us change the purchase limit. Just like Maybank.

There is one notable difference though. Maybank is offering both VISA debit card and debit Mastercard. The maximum purchase limit for VISA is only RM5,000/day while debit Mastercard is RM10,000/day.

Public Bank on the other hand, offers a maximum purchase limit of RM10,000/day for all their D2D VISA.

Which is why most of the tellers will tell you not to close it and they will ask you to withdraw all your money and leave just RM1 inside so you can save RM10  biggrin.gif

But I don't think you can do that with PB Basic Saving account rite?

Because they are locking in RM 20 from my account. (e.g. if i have RM 100 in my account, i can only withdraw up to RM 80)

No worries for PBB Basic Savings or Basic Current Account. You will be able to close it without incurring any charges at all provided you only close it 3 months after you opened it.

I also have have a BoA debit visa card, if I use the card to withdraw $ from the ATM in malaysia, I will be limited to RM 1,500 withdrawal each time rite?

Anyway to withdraw higher larger amount of $, since I am being charged USD 5 per withdrawal + 1% conversion fees or something like that ((if I am not mistaken)

Depends on which bank. Our ATM cards here in can withdraw a maximum of RM5,000 per day and RM6,000 for Standard Chartered (except Hong Leong Bank and several other banks). So your Bank of America VISA debit card will also be able to withdraw RM5,000 per day (the equivalent in US$).

For your information, Hong Leong Bank ATM can dispense RM3,000 only per card per day. Certain banks allow their affluent clients to withdraw up to RM10,000 per day but that is not applicable to your Bank of America check card.

Let say you need a lot of cash but you want to save on the overseas admin fee imposed by Bank of America, you should look for ATM that dispense RM100 notes as ATM that dispense RM100 notes is able to dispense RM3,000 in just one withdrawal. You will be able to find ATM that dispense RM100 with Maybank, CIMB Bank, Public Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered etc.

I have BoA debit card as well. Yes look for ATM machine that dispense RM100 note as what MilesAndMore point out. Previously I withdraw at HSBC Leboh Ampang. I made RM3000 per withdraw. Regarding the fee, yes BoA charge USD5 + 1% fee as you point out.

No. Anyone under 18-year-old is not eligible for RHB Cash Connect debit Mastercard. Your other alternatives are :
- Maybank Cherry VISA debit card
- Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card
- EON Bank debit Mastercard
