You should get a mail to ask you to collect the card from your designated branch once your card is ready.

Wait for it to arrive or request for a new one.

out of topic a bit,

just wonder Maybank & Public Bank do not have 24Hours banking lobby (ATM/CDM)...?

inconvenience for debit card holder if we suddenly or urgently want to use it during 12am and above... (example suddenly wanna buy promotional flight ticket because usually they start the sales during midnight 0000...)

for this case,
CIMB & RHB edge Maybank & Public bank since their CDM/ATM do not offline during wee hours....

but for me the best option still Alliance Debit Card + 24Hours banking lobby....just that their number of branches could be improved...
lol just realized their debit card unable to perform online transaction.... doh.gif

Why do you need access to an ATM machine when you are holding a debit card and have access to the internet?

Because he might want to make a deposit into his account because there isn't enough money in his account.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a debit card from the same bank (where the funds are kept), so he doesn't have to find an ATM machine to make deposits in the middle of the night?

maybe, he prefer standalone debit card without linked to saving account for security purpose.

You can still transfer from savings to a debit card that is not linked so that can't be the reason.

May be he doesn't want to keep too much money in the account so to minimize his losses in case the card falls into the wrong hand.

May be he only has the standalone debit card from Public Bank and no other account ...
