I have the Saphir Pommadier cream polish and Saphir Pate de Luxe wax polish
before apply both should I apply some olive/baby oil to soften/nourish the leather?
because dont have Saphir Renovateur yet
*
The cream polish should be enough for conditioner. Renovateur should be really be used sparingly for major cleaning

anybody here tried Earnest & Collective before?

I would love to know your feedback before investing in their oxfords / monks.

it is a company based in Singapore and their offerings are quite reasonable usually after discount would be rm350 to rm400 with free shipping to Malaysia.

Call me a snob but I have no interest in buying any cemented shoes as I think it is a poor investment. In my mind, if you are using a cemented construction, you are in the same category as Hush Puppies and Bata.

That being said, they make the nicest looking cemented shoes I have ever seen.

I'm not sure if they exist. Maybe drop by P Lal in PJ, Loake's Made in India range might fit your budget? The ones which have 2xx model numbers.

Really no point in spending a lot for cemented shoes, the membrane keyboards of the shoe world.

Just picked up a new pair of Cheaney's Imperial Collection on their new 15216 Last. It fits well for me as the heel cups nicely and no issues with tightness around the bunion. Arc support could be better but then I am comparing it with EG. I like the Bronzed Espresso calf, there's some unevenness in the shading thus creating a museum calf-like look.

Oak barked, closed channel stitching and a nice beveled waist.

In comparison to the custom Cheaney.

Stunning! What's the model name btw?

I have a Cheaney Imperial in bronze as well, model name was Balmoral, but design-wise was an austerity brogue. Yours is actually a balmoral design, so I wonder what they called it. tongue.gif

Unless you go for a known reputable brand, it's a crap-shoot basically. I have in my shoe care drawer, some 10 or so laces from various sellers on Shopee, Lazada, Aliexpress, and Taobao that were too thick for my dress shoes.

I've lost track of which is which now, but I THINK that these were the laces that finally fit:

Maybe we can do a group buy for some of these babies:

Need some (real) men advice

I made a schoolboy mistake to buy a pair of Florsheim shoes many years ago (2016, I think). I don't wear it often, so it is always kept in its box with a cedar wood shoe-tree and it is in really pristine condition.

Recently changed new job, and felt like wearing it into office on alternate days. Realized that the soles have separated.

I know my Florsheims probably don't meet many (real) men (high) standard in here, but I hope to fix its soles and use it as a pair of alternate beaters.

Question:
1) What should I do with the soles? Should I ask a cobbler to stitch it? And once it is stitched, that is basically the end of the shoe, right? Like it'll ruin the construction of a shoe.

2) And when stitching, the cobbler should not hard-press the shoe, so that it the top part of the shoe does not crease, right?

3) I hear from P.Lal Store that there is a professional cobbler shop in Bangsar South that has better craftworks compared to street cobblers? What do you guys think? Any recommendable professional cobblers?

4) What other courses of action would you guys take, if in my position? The Florsheims are still really good, except for the splitting soles.

Cement failure. I went through the same thing with an old pair of Clarks. I got a roadside tailor to stitch the sole back on. It doesn't look pretty if you look at it from floor level, but it's still usable until today.

I've since graduated to much better shoes.

Bought it from EnglishBrands in Birmingham. Not many of these around other resellers as it's just been released, otherwise it'll have to be directly from Cheaneys.

It's a relatively easy job that any cobbler shop can do. Just a matter of workmanship. I personally ask for no nails and no stitching. Just contact cement.
