Kelv, any pictures without filters? Would love to see the leather in their full glory.

And to the person in here who bought my Saphir, how are the results? Do share a bit, hope you're as pleased with them as I was.

Sure, I'll try to use my other camera instead. Will be picking up another shoe this Friday biggrin.gif

Went to Crockett & Jones today, they do have some lovely shoes and friendly sales assistants.
Too pricey tho but shall see how its wax fares.

Here you go, a few close ups as well.

This one is from Jones, not sure what leather is used.

Here's the other darker one. Leather is slightly more distressed.

The Jones are ok I guess for daily use especially when I have to go through occasional rain.

The Barker is much nicer though, with Calf leather.

Nice.
I noticed a sort of "veining" with the top pairs, looks quite fragile as if the "top layer" might crack at any time. Especially with the middle pair. But nothing some polish won't fix I think?
The Barker has a very interesting "heel support" bit, don't see much of those in formal shoes. Makes it look almost athletic.

*
Yeah I'd agree but a bit of shoe cream seems to do the job. Yet to polish up the shoes.

I was down at Jermyn Street in London yesterday. All the English shoemakers are lined up along the street (Church, JohnLobb, Joseph Cheaney, EdwardGreen, Crockett&Jones, Barker, Trickers and a few others)
Had to wipe my drool off the windows.

Anyway I had a good couple hours to browse and try on a few shoes.
Quite like what I saw at Barker. Here's an interesting one.

Shame it'll be all scratched up at the bottom.

I quite like Cheaney's flagship store set up.

It's kinda mix of a factory, museum and retail environment which I much preferred.

Has the similar heel as Barker

Hopefully it'll be my next pair doh.gif

I'll post some close ups of the PaulSmith brogue when I get to it.

Thanks.looking for more formal shoes

Any brand suggestions for a budget of maybe 1-1.5k?
*
Plenty of choices within that budget. English shoemakers? Italian? I really like Cheaney's but it's probably slightly above 1.5k

Here's my PS which is around the same ballpark

English made Grenson is pretty expensive. You'll be looking at £400. The sub £200 is made in India. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

How are your friends liking C&J? I'm really tempted to get a pair. I've just been told there has been a small price hike as of this Wednesday.

Church are still pricier than Cheaneys but not by much. Cheaneys are bordering £300 on average. I didn't quite like Church's retail store...feels too much like going in to some fashion retail shop. Not that it's any surprise.

careful not to get too much polish on the creases. The cracks makes it unsightly.
Otherwise just use cream.

Haha.. yeah christmas is around the corner and I'm eyeing the Crockett&Jones. I hope they do boxing day sale.

The Ceaney Maidstone is about £315 and the Ewan got it for a bargain at £119. Nicely made shoes compare to the Barkers.

I have another brown shoe which I wear regularly that's not in shot lol. I don't have that many blacks or other colours haha, although the blue is definitely tempting.

haha.. my work place is pretty casual so there's no need for formal wear hence all the brown shoes smile.gif Usually it goes with dark jeans or white slim trousers.
Got plenty in my wardrobe to match lol.

Light polish (left) and more wet polish on the right.

What shoes go well with a smart casual slim fitted chino for office wear.
*
Add a semi brogue shoe especially a nice rosewood coloured leather.

Marver: You can check out www.jonesbootmaker.com I'm not sure if they ship abroad. They are currently having sales and plenty of options from the home brand. I got my pair a few months back, I'm not sure if it's still available now as their stock constantly changes.

ncs_soda: Bought the Maidstone (Tan) for £315 (RM 2,000.00) and the Ewan (Dark Brown) at discounted price for £119 (RM 755.00)
