QUOTE(stfsoelyn @ Oct 25 2019, 10:02 AM) I recently bought 2 pairs from shoetreeproject.com (they are Singapore based), for about RM258, inclusive of shipping, which works out to about RM129 per pair. They're supposedly made of "American Red Cedar". I have no way to confirm that, but they seem to be of good quality. Does it have strong cedar wood scent as those reviewer are praising?Muji also sells red Cedar shoe trees - they were RM 121 back in 2018, but they are single tube, as opposed to normal twin tube. These were made in China. And then, of course, Lazada and Taobao also have cedar shoe trees. |

Now I am thinking to get from shoe tree project or mr minit now hahaFWIW, my first shoetree from Loake was not cedar and the shoe I'm using it with smells fine. I do take good care of my shoes though. |

QUOTE(Adrian_Alastair @ Oct 31 2019, 12:20 PM) I have both type of shoe tree, MUJI one and from STP. Both will have cedar smell when new. I read up that to return the smell you need to use sand paper to scrub it, but in the end I didn't manage to get the cedar smell back. I see.Now just using them to prevent moisture build up and retain shape of the leather. |

QUOTE(phrozenheart @ Dec 7 2020, 10:54 PM) What colour is your shell? Thanks. I have renovateur and i was checking around whether i can apply that on my black shell(its a wallet actually) coz i dun wanna ruin it further by putting wrong products on it.Have your tried Saphir Gentle Cleaner or Renovateur to remove as much as you can? Then apply Saphir's Cordovan Cream to recolour the spot. I have the Black, Dark Brown & Burgundy Cordovan cream on my Shopee if you need. www.shopee.com.my/phrozenheart Turns out it's ok and i tried it the other day. Although i am not sure if it's just being covered in a layer of renovateur, but at least i dun see the eye sore stain on it now. come weekend maybe i will apply another time properly and brush. |

guys have a question regarding shoe maintenance.
If I have already wax and mirror shine nicely the shoe, what would be the maintenance steps? Do i give the whole shoe a good brush(this will remove the mirror shine right?), then just repeat renovateur, waxing, polish and mirror shine again? Would it accumulate too much wax at the mirror shine area? How often to do this? |

QUOTE(dr_farnz @ Jan 21 2021, 07:09 PM) Personally i just leave it be. Until i think it need to be redone. But that's me. I will do mirror shine and wear it until the shine started to fade and uneven. Then I will reworked them. QUOTE(Kelvw @ Jan 21 2021, 10:51 PM) I tend to touch up the shine after wearing it for a week in rotation. I would use the brush to get rid of dust around the welt and creases but not on the toe cap. You shouldn't accumulate too much wax if it's used sparingly. I would only strip off the polish if I had a deep gash on the mirror shine that couldn't be touched up. I see. Normally what do u guys use to strip off the polish and wax for redoing? Wash with saddle soap ok? |

Hi guys, when you order a shoe online how do you know that it will fit good?
I am looking at some meermin shoes but unfortunately I don't own proper dress shoe before, except a pair of clarks leather shoe, so I have no reference on sizing. Any tips? |

QUOTE(thelibran.kl @ Mar 28 2022, 10:29 AM) Unfortunately, there is no 100% guarantee and substitute for trying the shoes on in person. Thanks that's really helpful. As I also buy most of my shoes online, I have created a guide here to assist www.thelibrankl.com/shoe-size-guide/ Took me a lot of trial and error to know which brand and size fits me best. It is also better to estimate slightly larger than smaller just to get the "perfect" fit. With a slightly larger shoe you can put insole, heel grip or tongue pads to make it fit. If it is smaller, it is harder and costlier to stretch or impossible to stretch certain parts. |

QUOTE(niakulah @ May 24 2022, 12:22 PM) That's a personal question I guess. It doesn't make a huge difference to me. The most visible things would be when you are covering up scratches. For these I prefer that my creme be slightly darker than the leather. I happen to be wearing my Aldwych in Mahogany today, here is a shot of a couple of scratches that I have: oh i see.. it's a bit hard to see from online pictures, but is medium brown a darker brown than say mahogany of these saphirs?[attachmentid=11158023] You don't need to clean/strip the leather to use a different colour creme. Not for Loake's any way. The 1880 range use full grain leather, but the finishing is quite heavy and cremes don't really change the colour all that much. BTW, can I ask is that from P Lal and how much are they selling it now? Ya from Plal. The last i checked was about 15xx... |

QUOTE(niakulah @ May 24 2022, 02:24 PM) Medium brown is definitely darker. Interestingly this page recommends Saphir Cognac for Loake Mahogany. Haha i saw that article too. Thus i am a bit unsure now.https://www.skolyx.se/en/content/46-guide-c...r-medaille-d-or QUOTE(thelibran.kl @ May 25 2022, 10:28 AM) It depends on what you want to achieve, some prefer to maintain their original shoe colour, some wants to burnish the heels/toes and some use only one brown colour for all their brown shoes (probably to save money). I see. Agree on the money part as saphir products are not exactly cheap. If the wax or cream colour is lighter than the shoe, it may not affect the colour. If it is darker than the shoe, after long a period, it will darken it permanently even after cleaning. Its like leaving a washable stain on a white shirt, wash it soon it will be white again, leave the stain on long enough, a stain that's supposed to be washable will also leave a mark. |
