Carmina is a definite step up from Loake (the premium 1880 range) . I don't own a Barker but from what I've seen it is at par with Loake at best, but probably worse.

However there have some disconcerting reports at the Carmina styleforum thread recently with some real shoddy workmanship. All 3 of my pairs are great though. My next pair would probably still be a Carmina. Thinking of a burgundy calfskin or Tobacco suede (love the tobacco colour).

You can try Carmina at WJ & Co at Bangsar shopping center. They are priced a bit higher than the website but at least you can get to try it. With the ringgit in the doldrums it is not that much more expensive.

(Hint: Carmina prices their Inca-lasted shoes about €35 more than other lasts. But at WJ all shoes are priced the same. At the current exchange rate and factoring in customs taxes the RM 1,880 price tag at WJ is on par with the price from Carminas website. They carry a double monk in snuff suede and brown calfskin. Both look fantastic. In my opinion the Inca last is a stunningly classy last. )

Ic. Yeah I did some conversion and it's not a lot in terms of difference.

Capital last on my loake is comfortable with some room at the toe and the width(its natural based on that lasts)

From what I read the rain last is similar fit, at least it should e the same size. Can anyone double confirm this?

The good thing about Barker, loake and grenson is that in the UK you would usually find them at a deep discount

Comparing Herringshoes.com and P.Lal the prices are almost the same with shipping but of course you can try on specific models at P.Lal

If you're going to the UK and looking for shoes.why don't you go to their factory stores?

Whoa...if really got deep discounts at their retail shop then i wont mind getting an extra pair. Would u suggest trying at their boutiques or get from departmental stores or general shoe shops in london.

C&Js and Tricker’s got throw discounts also? Really dont want to be a sucker.

I called them today to enquire about the availability of some barker models. Seems that sizes are quite limited.

Guess if happen to stumble upon one that u like anywhere, its mot such a bad idea to buy it even if it cost a little more.

On to another subject, hand grade vs bench grade. Worth the price difference?

Please give me an indication of the price range of formal shoes at P.Lal. I am looking to buy a lace up cap toe brogue/oxford.

I'm looking for a new set of cleaner (solution and brush) for nubuck/suede. Can anyone recommend me a place to get it? If you know the price do share as well.

My current location is within Klang Valley. I want to find alternative other than the one from the store I got my boots from.

IIRC Loake entry level is just under 500. I recommend at least top up to 800+ for the Made in England Loake Shoemaker range.

Their G&G shoes are about 4k+ I think.

Gotta post some photos of your results.

Here's mine, weekend polish smile.gif

Before polishing with a bit of Saphir Renovateur. Applied and left to soak in a bit before brushing off

Looks like it.

And looks like it's not been kept with shoe trees either.

GuyM
Even you offer me RM200 I wouldn't buy it. If the buyer easily blinded by brand names, maybe can sell RM400.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'll definitely keep the 800+ range as my minimum.
