Carmina is a definite step up from Loake (the premium 1880 range) . I don't own a Barker but from what I've seen it is at par with Loake at best, but probably worse.

However there have some disconcerting reports at the Carmina styleforum thread recently with some real shoddy workmanship. All 3 of my pairs are great though. My next pair would probably still be a Carmina. Thinking of a burgundy calfskin or Tobacco suede (love the tobacco colour).

You can try Carmina at WJ & Co at Bangsar shopping center. They are priced a bit higher than the website but at least you can get to try it. With the ringgit in the doldrums it is not that much more expensive.

(Hint: Carmina prices their Inca-lasted shoes about €35 more than other lasts. But at WJ all shoes are priced the same. At the current exchange rate and factoring in customs taxes the RM 1,880 price tag at WJ is on par with the price from Carminas website. They carry a double monk in snuff suede and brown calfskin. Both look fantastic. In my opinion the Inca last is a stunningly classy last. )

The good thing about Barker, loake and grenson is that in the UK you would usually find them at a deep discount

Comparing Herringshoes.com and P.Lal the prices are almost the same with shipping but of course you can try on specific models at P.Lal

If you're going to the UK and looking for shoes.why don't you go to their factory stores?

Even you offer me RM200 I wouldn't buy it. If the buyer easily blinded by brand names, maybe can sell RM400.

IIRC Loake entry level is just under 500. I recommend at least top up to 800+ for the Made in England Loake Shoemaker range.

Their G&G shoes are about 4k+ I think.
