Is it good to buy 810 as compared with 673?
*
Here is some discussion on avsforum:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/av-amplifie...673-rxa810.html

You can compare their specs here:
http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visua...k_u/?mode=model
http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visua...entage/rx-a810/

If possible, do a side by side comparison on the features and amp.

Went to A&L Bangsar on Saturday, and sure enough CT Seong gave a very good price which I couldn't resist. Unfortunately no stock! Felt like tayar poncet! sad.gif

Hi All Yamaha Sifu,
I plan to buy v473 but intend to reuse back my pioneer 5.1 speaker, a 5.1 compact DVD home theater system.

At the back of the speaker, it mentioned not to connect these speakers to 3rd party AV other than the pioneer player, else it may cause malfunction or a fire.

The speaker is 100watt and 4ohm impedance, the model is Pioneer S-DV2T.

Questions:

1. If i connect v473 to this 5.1 speaker, will it cause damage to AV and speaker as pioneer claimed?

2. I notice the pioneer subwoofer doesn't have dedicated power unlike NSP20, does this mean it will be under power when I connect to v473?

I would not dare to connect those speakers due to impedance issue. The V473 is meant to drive typical 6-8 ohm speakers. 4 ohm is too low unless you play them at very low volume.

your pioneer subwoofer is a passive subwoofer. that means it needs an external power amp to drive it, which is by your pioneer DVD home theater system head unit. the V473 needs an active subwoofer, a subwoofer with it's own amp (with it's own power chord). The V473 will not power it. The V473 only sends the bass signal to it.

Thanks for your information, appreciated.

Now looking into NSP40, anyone know the price? What is the major different of Yamaha NSP20 vs NSP40 speaker system?

Wanna ask u guys whether my astro beyond can be connected to HDMI port at Amp?
*
Yes you can. After you do that, you must have another HDMI cable to connect the "HDMI Out" (with ARC) from your amp to the HDMI In (with ARC) of your LCD TV (which should have been connected in the first place). If your TV or amp has no HDMI with ARC, then you need to connect a separate digital sound cable from TV to the amp so that TV shows can have sound through your amp to your speakers.

Sorry, did not ask about other models 'cos already made up my mind to get the V673 (4k upscaling for future proofing.) Already got the V673 from him when the stock arrived 2 weeks ago.

You can adjust the impedence of the Yamaha AVR to the impedence of your Pioneer front speakers. You do it when you calibrate the speakers using Yamaha's YPAO. Every manufacturer would not recommend mixing their equipment with others due to marketing/financial reasons but logic says you can (ie you take care of the impedence setting). What if the speaker manufacturer does not manufacture AVR and vice versa? When you buy the AVR and speakers of the same brand, you probably get "better" sound (very subjective if not insignificant in reality) 'cos they were probably tested together during the development. I think all you need to get is an active subwoofer instead of the whole 5.1 speaker set.

Basically the difference would be the design. NSP40 is kinda squarish whereas the P20 is curvy.
NSP20 is only available at Harvey Norman and P40 is handled by the rest of the dealers.

If you are expecting BIG sound, you may want to skip this model...otherwise, read on.

This system is packaged with a soundbar and a subwoofer. The bass is just decent enough for a normal listening level.
The part where this system shines is the Airsurround Extreme a.k.a Virtual Surround. It outperforms competitors for its realistic surround sound and clarity. Don't just listen to me. Do an audition yourself.

In Klang Valley, most probably in the region of RM 1,700 - 1,800, depending on your bargaining skill.

But do remember, cheapest not always better, I would think. Most important is the After Sales Service of the dealer.

Today pigi Harvey got this fella recommend Yamaha best of all...within budget of 3-4k

Quoted me YHT-473/SPK140/315 for RM3599

Plus he said need to get cables like RM250 then another RM150 for subs cables etc...totaling amount of RM4k....is that reasonable?

I also told him my concern about 5.1 because I can't place my back speakers because I can't drill no more so he recommended me to put on top of the front speakers will do since it does auto-calibration.

I'm so nooob in this not sure who to believe what not now....

Anywhere else I can look around?

Not worth to spend so much money on cables unless you're planning to upgrade in the future.

For the auto calibration, yes... the AVR may auto detect the distance and phase of the speaker and tune all speakers for you...but you should be ready with front field sound only because that's limited by your placement option.

Bump this threads up.

I have sort of sort list Yamaha for my 5.1 system. Thinking on 473 since I don't need 7.1

Got a quote from ss2 legend, the avr price is good, but they don't have showroom to test out the speakers. Any idea what is the best match for this avr? Budget on the 5.1 around 3k +- 300
