Phuiyoh, just tried my Canon Speedlites on the LX3/DL4. It works! LOL. Just imagine the big mama Canon 580EXII flash sitting on top of the LX3/DL4. Taking pics of it on the camera now. Hehehe

I saw the sanding method not too long ago. The first thing that pop out of my head if why would they waste so much time to do it. You could have it done nice and clear by walking into an engineering shop. They can clamp it and then machine it down to the thickness you want without cutting your hands.

hmm good idea..
but engineering shop hmm.have to find

well the duration of the mod really depends on your sanding kungfu tongue.gif
i took about roughly an hour to finish up the job, bought the roughest and finest sandpaper available from the hardware store and just sand it, i tried using those stones those auntie used to sharpen their knife too, but that one is of no use, sand paper is the best option, start from the rough then steadily move on to sand it on the finest.

Do remember to rotate every once in awhile when you are sanding as you would not want a unsymmetrical LC-1 right? biggrin.gif
You must use force as well, where the chinese are concern its am lik (canto), u must have the kungfu!

I did not use any cut and sand ways that reader had mentioned, mine is just pure sanding kungfu in action! brows.gif

here's two shots internal and external of my LC-1.
Will be posting my bag where i put all my stuffs later.

Hmm feel tempted to sand my LC-1 too... haha but I know I'm not good at doing these kinda things.
Let see how first... if most members here able to do it without any problem I might try my luck... tongue.gif

what i did was, i never sand and make it thinner. Since the "kaki" at the can spoil the thread on the camera, i sand the "kaki" instead. so when u screw it on, it won't be too tight until spoiling the thread, but enuff to hold tight and turn the lens easily (to solve the vignetting from the to or bottom).

I recalled someone here said LC-1's "kaki" wont spoil LX3's lense ring... LC-1 = plsatic, LX3 = Aluminum...

it will eventually spoil if u "push" too hard, its like a girl la dei... tongue.gif
mine got some edges of the lens ring flat already due to the "kaki"

and that was the main motivation to sand down, its a very easy job, even beginners can do it and it all else fails..aiyar get another LC-1 lo..its not like asking you to change a canon 5dmk2 from 350d wurt laugh.gif

the thread on the LX3 i think is not aluminum, is plastic...those who eventually spoil the thread is because the LC1 "kaki" is holding too tight...so what u can do is just make it loose abit sweat.gif

I confirm it is metal (Aluminium?) lah. I even pushed it so hard that I'm afraid the whole lens might drop off, but it doesn't. I also tried my new LC-1, which is very fit, to screw it in and out very hard until my LC-1 has thread, so it can be use like a threaded ring. The purpose I threaded it is because I often take it out to use my Adapter and filters.

by the way, anyway to upload photo directly to this forum? I tried many times tonight but failed to upload to my flickr acc.

i'm going to NZ and i think the 24mm lens won't disappoint. i'm so over with those fancy compact cameras but not ready for a big brick of a DSLR. this should suit me fine. smile.gif
