I got my battery from Panasonic, can't remember the actual price, should be around RM157. I got my LC-1 from Yamiya at RM50 only.

After 2 month of using the LC-1, I modified it again. This time using the sanding method. http://www.dchome.net/viewthread.php?tid=608518&extra=page=1
this mod make it so thin and looks nicer rclxms.gif No need to add in any "spacer" to keep the flap open. However I realized that there is still very very very minimum vignetting at longest zoom. u will need to cut away a lot of "unneeded" plastic. So skill level needed is 7 out of 10. be very careful not to cut you hand as reported by many.

I think Price should be around RM1550-1650, depending on the bundled "gift" and availability.

I prefer LX3 over G10 for the cool classic look, size, and the 24mm wide lens + 2.0 aperture. Meaning I can get more nice indoor picture as indoor is usually limited lighting (big aperture helps), limited distance (wide lens helps). As for outdoor, G10 might have a bit extra edge with the extra zoom. (But who need zoom for landscape?) Zoom only help if u r shooting sports, events, birds.. If u really want to take good portrait, or very good outdoor pic, go for DSLR. For serious portrait, forget about both LX3 and G10, u need extra lighting most of the time, go for DSLR.

Both are only P&S camera - to complement DSLR, not to replace. All P&S has big limitation. Don't expect too much, G10 and LX3 is just "above the rest". Canon S90 might be another option for u to consider. But as for me - I love my LX3. G10 just lack the "soul".

G10 is much sharper if u use low ISO coz of the high megapixel. If lighting is good, it is really fantastic. Eye bleedingly sharp. Problem is when light drops then it sucks big time

i sanded mine until the white dot vanish, now my LC-1 can just clip on the lense ring biggrin.gif
but bad thing is that it would not hold that strong so if anyone wanna sand theirs, do make sure how much u intend to sand

You use sand paper to do the job? How long does it take to do the modification?

Same here. I sanded it until the white dot just vanished too. Then use a pen knife to cut away the plastic part that block the way. I use sand paper No.80 to start with, then move to No.120. Sanding is quite fast, about 1/2 hour (while watching TV cool.gif ). But the killing part is the cutting. Need to be very careful not to cut too much, and need to take care of your finger as u need to hold on the cap very strongly, and cut very strongly. Any mistake will cause u a very deep cut in your finger, or puncture the "flap". Don't cut too much too, I cut until the plastic just almost finish, maybe 0.5mm left? (or more?), if cut too much, the cap will be too loose.

At first I thought I can snap it into the detachable "ring" and can be screw in and out as I need, but it's not, u still snap it onto the camera after removing the "ring" - just like the original LC-1, but now nicer and easier. It is not too loose too if u do it properly. Vignetting is barely noticeable only at max zoom.

@shinichi
well the duration of the mod really depends on your sanding kungfu tongue.gif
i took about roughly an hour to finish up the job, bought the roughest and finest sandpaper available from the hardware store and just sand it, i tried using those stones those auntie used to sharpen their knife too, but that one is of no use, sand paper is the best option, start from the rough then steadily move on to sand it on the finest.

Do remember to rotate every once in awhile when you are sanding as you would not want a unsymmetrical LC-1 right? biggrin.gif
You must use force as well, where the chinese are concern its am lik (canto), u must have the kungfu!

I did not use any cut and sand ways that reader had mentioned, mine is just pure sanding kungfu in action! brows.gif

here's two shots internal and external of my LC-1.
Will be posting my bag where i put all my stuffs later.

as requested by nightstalker1993, here's a short review of the bag that houses all my junk biggrin.gif

With the LX-3, more or less people like us are definitely going for all the accessories that this small little camera have to offer from third party manufacturers. The only lacking part is that there is no specific camera bag that is designed for the LX-3, however I still found my answer in a Fujifilm bag, tongue.gif please do not kill me any of those panasonic die hard fans out there laugh.gif

Here's a picture of everything that is taken out of the bag for this shot.
user posted image

1 x LX-3
6 x AA batteries
1 x Wide angle adapter
1 x Tele adapter
1 x External Flash
1 x UV filter
1 x Polarizer
1 x 46 - 52mm adapter
1 x lens hood
1 x 52 mm lens cover
1 x original len cover
1 x spare LX-3 battery

I got this bag during the Fujifilm F200EXR launch, and it has been collecting dust ever since then until I got my LX-3. Ironically, the bag is seriously more towards a Fujifilm bag but designed and tailor made for the LX-3. tongue.gif
Everything just fits in nicely.

if you guys will notice, there is an extra compartment above the two compartments below that would fit the LX-3 snugly, however it would not fit if you have the 42m-52mm adapter attached.

batteries in here!

Overall this bag has made many trips traveling with me to bangkok, hiking, waterfall, strolling around the streets, and basically everywhere that I was in the mood for taking the LX-3 out for some shots. As it is a backpack styled bag, you wouldn't even feel the weight of the stuffs compared to a slingbag.

You guys can check out my flickr if you may, here's the link for my photostream.

I saw the sanding method not too long ago. The first thing that pop out of my head if why would they waste so much time to do it. You could have it done nice and clear by walking into an engineering shop. They can clamp it and then machine it down to the thickness you want without cutting your hands.
