By using ddms.bat. Make sure you have JRE installed.

Then, click that small HT98XXX icon, and then Devices

I got a question:

Can my device receive internet connectivity from my PC (which is connected to internet) when they r sync...

My PC is using the wimax wireless...& i hope to use the internet connection from my pc ON my device, instead of using my digi 3G data...

Can this be done? My previous WM phone can.

When I plug in my device to d pc.. n try to use internet application.. I still get connection BUT i donno if the connection comes from the Digi 3G or from the PC... it shows on top "H" should be refer to High speed internet

What is your setup? Do you have a wireless router?

I myself use Wimax at home, and I have a wireless router to share the Wimax connection with several computers and phones.

If you see H/3G sign at your phone, then your Hero is using H/3G instead of your Wimax. You will see wifi sign if your Hero is using wifi. As simple as that.

I'm not sure if you can use data cable to surf Internet. To use your phone as a mean to surf Internet from your computer, yes it's possible. To surf Internet from your phone by connecting data cable to your PC, I don't think so.

My suggestion is to setup a wireless network if you want to surf with wifi at home.

Oh... I don have wifi set up at home.. thats why im using data cable instead n expecting it can be used like how my pc works with WM device.

So I will have no choice but to set up Wifi in order to use the connection? Im the only one using internet.. so not necessary to get a wireless router just to serve my small room.

Oh yeah. Im exploring the Applications for Hero. The original Set doesnt come with MARKET? Is there a way to download it? or we can use other such as slideME? It was being Bookmarked in my browser... saying to download application for android.. mind to share which exactly should i use?

As discussed earlier, to get Market you need to flash it with another ROM that comes with Market. Or maybe you can try pushing Vending.apk to your /system/app. Idk.

You can use SlideME to download apps. However for the time being you will miss tons of apps without Market.

We first spotted Android 2.1 about a month ago and now the first screens have appeared. Surprisingly, the screens come from a HTC Hero and not the Motorola Droid. This is an overwhelmingly good sign for anyone with a first generation Android phone. The Android 2.0 release date for 1st generation phones had been in question, but it now appears to be right around the corner. If Android 2.x is coming to the HTC Hero, then it should be able to be ported to other 1st gen Android phones that feature the same Qualcomm 528 MHz processor.

Hmm.. this is confusing... jumping from WMo to Google Android.

Previous I have Contacts/tasks/Calender in Microsoft Outlook... sync with my WinMo device.

Now. when i first sync my Hero using HTC sync...it sync my Outlook contact into my Hero...works well! but there is not Task option inside hero. Whatever I create appointment in my calender.. it will be in the Google Calender.. Work charmly.. i love it.. but still very confused...

Now i have . Outlook Calender (old appointment/birthday etc in there). + the Google Calender (new one)...

After setting up my Gmail with the phone.. in my device contacts.. i have my Original contact ppl (with phone numbers + home address etc) AND my Gmail contacts Also inside my device contact list...Meaning there are a lot of repetition.. Example:

2.Nelson Oii - Phone
3.nelson.ooi@yahoo.com - Google

Is the same person but it doubled up in my phonebook... Instead of putting the google mail address under the existing Contact in my phone. Not too sure the best way to properly set up my contacts + calender + mails

Now Im trying to move everything from Contacts, calender, email everything to GOOGLE to fully utilise my hero. But still struggling with the Outlook... is there any application such as GOOGLE CONTACT that replacing outlook??

Right now:

Contacts = Microsoft Outlook
Calender = Google Calender
Task= Googe Calender
Email = Google Mail

...Also I will like to know.. if contact photos + birthday info from Facebook being shown inside the Hero Calender/ google Calender?

Please help me. Im trying to be as organise as possible with my phone. Thanks.

Ah forgot to include bout the gapps. Lox_Dev AOSP still w/out the gapps. I follow danibjor's method found here:
QUOTE

Just create .bat file and let it install.

Bout the AOSP, i like it very much. Gonna stick with it for a while since the market,exchange,gmail and some other thing that i use works very well.

Couple issues that i notice: camera is quite sluggish, picture gallery also not working (can be solved by pushing the gallery app i think) and the calendar syncing none stop. (have to turn off the calendar auto sync for now).

Other than that, everything works fine. Love the speedy interface animation, fast browser, new contact (although no facebook intergration tongue.gif) and also the new market. Have even rooted it myself to get access to paid apps. biggrin.gif

ElmI, how about sync with Google Contacts? Working or not? I need it very much as I keep them contacts there.

clivengu, I ditched phone & sim contacts in favor for Google Contacts, http://www.google.com/contacts/ You can start investing your time with the cloud. Ultra convenient, no cable no sim. Just hit sync and all your contacts will be in your phone in seconds.
