i said it was a joke because they do go other countries for tertiary education, just like malaysians....  saying that they only stay in singapore is an insult to them i think.

Haha, sorry wgy589. I guess I got grudge against Singaporean girls who only go out with ang moh tongue.gif tongue.gif

btw, Monash really higher? Lat year,I thought IMU only accept AAB student which is their cut-off point. I only got ABB for 2008 STPM. If this true I will be cancelling out both Monash AND IMU! sad.gif Sad day for me..

dun worry biggrin.gif

i think you should give IMU a try. show them you have enough fund and enthusiasm to study there. Monash malaysia is not recognised in singapore so it doesn't really matter in your case.

the process to get into monash is more difficult, you need good isat grades, and they take the interview seriously.......

imu is easier, as all they want is reasonable pre-u grades, and come and say 'hello, i have got money' at the interview..........

the cut off academic grades for monash is higher, but imu's is not that far off, in some batches.........

for ibrahim, if he wants to possibly return to spore and work, he should forget monash msia, as it is not recognised by smc...........

But then again IMU(non-PMS) also no recognized by SMC right?

Anyway, if all fail, I don't mind working in Malaysia since I considered myself half-Malaysian. smile.gif

Anyone know about which university recognized by Singapore (SMC). Is Monash or Newcastle University recognized because of the twinning?

I only know IMU-PMS is recognized. Any other?

Hehe. Yes, I'm actually a Singaporean studying in Malaysia from kindergarten. But sadly 2 years plus suffering (physical training etc.) really make me feel sad not being a Malaysian.Since I only scored 3.5 CGPA, I thought I might get in Monash or Newcastle. Anyone know the recent cut-off point?

I'm eligible for next year intake. I canceling out IMU since I think I'm not good enough.

P.S: wgy589, nice being a Singaporean female huh tongue.gif

I cannot believe this. tongue.gif laugh.gif First time ever that I heard a Singaporean wanting to be a Malaysian. sweat.gif
Just try your luck with all the universities. If you meet the minimum requirements then there's no harm putting in the applications - the most they can do is reject you. Gotta be in it to win it.... sounds like lottery advertisement but applying for med school is like buying lottery.

Anyway, the below is the list of SMC-recognised foreign unis.
http://www.smc.gov.sg/html/MungoBlobs/538/...lifications.pdf

Generally speaking, if you graduate from Monash Australia, Newcastle Australia, or Newcastle Upon Tyne UK, you're safe. However if you're a grad from those universities but completed your clinical training in Malaysia, there's a possibility that it won't work. Check with SMC to be sure, drop them an email or give them a call for official confirmation - we're in no position to speak on their behalf.

Wooo... but looking at the requirement(Monash Australia, Newcastle Australia, or Newcastle Upon Tyne UK), I don't think they accept ABB.

No university with SMC accreditation accept ABB huh?

Use the alternative route... IMU->PMS. That's probably your best bet for now if you do not meet the minimal requirements for the aforementioned foreign unis.

If you're planning on staying in Malaysia then there's lots of private institutions available which you probably know more than I do.

I'd like to make some price comparison of medical equipments of the following items in different countries:

1. Stethoscope
2. Sphygmomanometer (mercury)
3. Ophthalmoscope
4. Otoscope

Let me start:

Country: India

1. Stethoscope, Lifeline brand, Rs350 (RM25) - cheapest I've seen so far.

2. Sphygmomanometer, Dr.Morepen Brand, Rs850 (RM60)

3. Ophthalmoscope Pocketscope, Wellch-Allyn Brand, Rs6300 (Rm450)

4. Otoscope Pocketscope, Wellch-Allyn Brand, Rs5600 (Rm400)

Lets see the variations in price of the above items in the country your studying in. If you want you can add more items other than the above for comparison (eg Book price, etc)

~~
