QUOTE(zstan @ May 19 2010, 09:17 PM) Pharmacy is a good choice, you know.. By the way, is there a difference between pharmacy and pharmacology? Read wiki and: Pharmacology (from Greek φάρμακον, pharmakon, "drug"; and -λογία, -logia) is the study of drug action. Pharmacy (from the Greek φάρμακον 'pharmakon' = drug) is the health profession that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences, and it is charged with ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. Not so much difference eh? Added on May 20, 2010, 7:39 amhttp://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/st_BESTJOBS2010_20100105.html Ranked 19th! Isnt maths just as important as chemistry , bio , and physics ? Although i dont think it is used at all(as in STPM maths) but many uni still wants this subject to enter.
My friend told me maths can assess students logic whether student is good enough to enter certain courses |

I think the reason they want math as a requirement is that math can indirectly show your intelligence level... As my add math teacher always said, the reason they include add math in secondary school is to develop the analytical and thinking skills of a student... And from my experience, students who excel in math is able to understand scientific concepts better than the one who doesn't, some can even memorise better, though I cannot see the connection between memorising and math...

In most of the developed country, you may say yes. However in malaysia, the math is only about the fixed pattern of question even in STPM level. The more you practice the better you can score. There is no direct connection between intelligence with math in malaysia examination system since some slow student can score an A in STPM.This post has been edited by MBBS siang: May 21 2010, 10:43 AM |

Maths is just another subject that practise makes perfect rule apply... Once you do enough sample question. then whatever mixture of question comes out, you can handle it. I dont think everyone is born with natural analytical skill, where they can see clearly what type of concept the Qs have mixed up. All the A scorer i get to know practise a lot. |

Hi everyone, long time didnt post here. I am going to be a 3rd year medical student at UCSI Terengganu Campus. Starting my clinicals there. Any tips for me?
BTW during the year 2 finals, a lot of people failed, mostly ex-Indonesia students, not that I am saying anything but only 2 out of 13 passed if I remember correctly. Then after a resit, 8 more passed. |

QUOTE(linkeong @ May 28 2010, 10:25 AM) if that is a true reflection on the ability and calibre of students, that is frightening.......ucsi selection process is already very lax, so if these ex-indon med schools students can hardly pass ucsi assassment, what standards are they?......... |

I wonder how many medical graduates are actively involve in this forum and are interested in knowing the post graduate specialisation processes and pathways in Malaysia and overseas.
Maybe someone which such knowledge can create a topic in jobs and career section regarding this? Or even in educationessentials and I am pretty sure many prospective and current medical students will be very interested in knowing this. This post has been edited by dunaskwhy: May 28 2010, 06:36 PM |
