I'd like to make some price comparison of medical equipments of the following items in different countries:

1. Stethoscope
2. Sphygmomanometer (mercury)
3. Ophthalmoscope
4. Otoscope

Let me start:

Country: India

1. Stethoscope, Lifeline brand, Rs350 (RM25) - cheapest I've seen so far.

2. Sphygmomanometer, Dr.Morepen Brand, Rs850 (RM60)

3. Ophthalmoscope Pocketscope, Wellch-Allyn Brand, Rs6300 (Rm450)

4. Otoscope Pocketscope, Wellch-Allyn Brand, Rs5600 (Rm400)
Lets see the variations in price of the above items in the country your studying in. If you want you can add more items other than the above for comparison (eg Book price, etc)

A simple google shows a lot prefer Wellch-Allyn Brand, but than again I'm in no position to comment.

Btw, if I go to IMU, do I have to choose PMS or Seremban before entering. I hope to get into using ABB but study hard enough to be accepted into PMS.

JPA students? I spoke to JPA less than 2 months ago and they said not "accredited" yet and they will take a number of years to assess the graduates before sending students there.

But on the website it said it took only one round of audit to get it accredited and now it seems JPA students are going there.

as usual people gets confused about 'accreditation' of med schools.......

the most important body is the mmc, which then confers recognition upon a degree, and grant the licence to practice medicine.........and that only happend when the 1st batch of students are in their final year, or sometimes after they have graduated..........

in the history of new med schools in msia, there has NEVER been any med school not granted recognition by mmc, no matter how bad or how non-compliant with guidelines........it is a political decision.......

although one was quite delayed.........ie aimst was delayed for 2 years, where graduates could not start work for a few years......

others like mqa, jpa, is irrelevant, as far as the value of the qualification is concerned.........

as for jpa sending students, they have even sent students to non-mmc recognised med schools and then after they graduated, have to appeal to mmc to recognise them...........

msia boleh.........

JPA did told me that there are students doing A levels in UCSI but these students are to be sent overseas as the Medic course is not accredited yet. Maybe they decided to gostan now. Not surprising. Apa pun boleh.

it will just dilute the blood and cause hyponatremia. changes in other electrolytes might not be so significant.

i've read so far that if water is inserted into bloodstream, it will cause the red blood cell to burst. was wondering if normal pharmacy like guardian or watson sell injectable saline solution...
