Absolutely right. Now it's the internship uncertainty!
*
well there's always uncertainty everywhere =) all we can do is do our best and hope for the best. Hopefully they will open up more internship seats. Having said so, there's a huge cutback on cost and budget in tassie health care at the moments, there's been closing down of hosp beds and mass lay off of staffs. =( it is kinda sad to hear really.

Oh that's not very good news at all. Hope things will turn around in the next couple of years then.

Joke of the week. MMA deregistered!! What is happening to the medical profession now?

MMA struck off for flouting laws

QUOTE
SEREMBAN: The move by the Registrar of Societies to de-register the Malaysian Medical Association has stunned some 10,000 doctors in the country who are its members.

“The MMA has clearly violated certain laws and that is why they have been de-registered,” said ROS senior assistant director Desmond Das Michael Das.

“But all is not lost as they can file an appeal with the Home Ministry within 30 days,” he said.

Early this month, The Star reported that the ROS had issued a show cause letter to the association as to why it should not be de-registered following alleged irregularities in the running of the organisation as well as in the election of its office bearers in May.

The four charges preferred against it were:

> Its failure to send out the list of candidates vying for positions within the specified period prior to the AGM

> Sending out an incomplete agenda

> Enforcing certain provisions that were not approved by the ROS, and

> Calling for nominations for certain positions well before the AGM.

Desmond said he would be meeting MMA office bearers on Monday as they had indicated their desire to appeal the decision.

The ROS decision came as a shock to members of the influential MMA, which is represented in various government agencies and boards and often consulted whenever amendments or new provisions are added to the country's health-related laws or policies.

The body has an ethics committee that monitors those in the profession and publishes an internationally recognised indexed journal which carries research articles.

When contacted, former MMA president and secretary-general Datuk Dr P. Krishnan expressed his disappointment with the MMA committee for not listening to the advice of its former leaders to declare the May election null and void.

This, he said, could have saved the association from being de-registered.

“It is sad that an influential organisation like the MMA has to go through this episode. They could have clearly prevented this,” he said.

MMA president Dr Mary Suma Cardosa had confirmed early this month the association had been issued a show cause letter and the MMA had given its reply.

She said there was no issue as it concerned only internal matters.

She was not available for comment yesterday.

When different groups have different agenda, some personal, what do you expect.

The "victimised" will petition or pester the relevant authority to do the unthinkable!

That's why between a doctor and a clerk, you can never tell which is a "better" person - one has too much monies and nothing much to do and the other neither has the monies nor the time.

the cerebral palsy is not due to the extravasation of fluid and drugs used for fever......but as usual, people like to believe different.....and media likes to sensationalise......

Yeah. It is one of the better ones but I dont think have sufficient places to offer.

This year intake of 50 students comprise 49 JPA and one from others. This is because JPA policy is to sent students to medic colleges that have at least one graduated batch. Things might change.....Malaysia boleh.

If its Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL now), then I should say a big NO!

Its difficult to run critical courses in Perak as most students prefer to go KL and there is a lack of good lecturers around.

Sunway University, after so many years. still find a big problem in running a A levels class in Ipoh

Drop by on its open day and see for yourself.

Have a look at Mahsa, now with Dr. Ismail Merican as the pro-chancellor there. CUCM may also be your other choice if there is an intake.

The other options is to look at certain better universities in Indonesia

Apart from IMU, which other local medical schools make interviews part of the application process?

Thanks for your input. MAHSA is having issue with its BPharm programme so I'm not so sure about how they're going to handle the new MBBS program and CUCMS is derecognized.

We're in a very weird position. So many medical schools, so few good ones.

when people with ccc and cgpa 2.0 are accepted, it is quite pointless to conduct interviews.....

interviews are only of use to help differentiate and select the best candidates from a cohort of good students with equivalent excellent results.....

the problem with most ipts med schools currently is the inability to find enough 'qualified' students with money, after the minimum qualification requirement by mmc...that is why gov scholars are much sought after....they come with guaranteed funding, and are generally of better quality than private students.....

and why some med schools have resorted to provide 'scholarships' and loans....

As far as I know and seen, UCSI, Monash Sunway and Melaka Manipal.

I also manage to speak to the Dean of Newcastle Medical University in JB (Numed) over the weekend at the UK Education Fair and he also said there would be an interview.

Monash Sunway.. majority of the interviewers were from Monash Clayton.

For me the pre-interview (waiting for your turn) was more nerve-wrecking than the interview itself... heh heh..
