77mm is easy to find. I think a few shops have it. The price is a killer. Its a bit too expensive for me to consider it.

Easily half the price I paid for a D70s.

I do weddings (sporadically) and yes, while I do take group shots with the 11-16mm, I find the group shots taken by 24-70mm way better. The distortion is just weird for a group pic.

and maybe your weddings are like super big la, because I haven't taken a group shot where the 24-70mm on a DX body can't take the group shot. So far, I can say that the 18mm and the 24mm on the DX body has been enough for group shots.

I even have to use 16mm and take a few steps closer for most group shot.

my old sigma 1770 has weird distortion at 17mm too smile.gif....the guys at the edge looks like some monster haha..
i think 11mm is too wide for me to use in order to get a good composition, 16~18mm may be good enuf. MFD matters to me more than the focal length..
how nice if 50mm MFD is 30cm smile.gif hehe

I found it harder to find the 67mm tongue.gif

Shops tend to stock the larger ones. Oh wait, might have gotten it confused. Is 77mm the de facto filter size for Nikon pro grade lenses or is it 72mm?

Yes it is. El 77mm filter es el standard de facto por todos de la lensas pro del Nikon :)Ironically somebody just mentioned it to me the other day, without even me asking.

Ahh yes, then the 77mm is common. Which mean the R72 is available. And so you can poison yourself silly with it. tongue.gif

well...i dont know if there are significant changes in the low noise at high iso or other improvements in terms of image quality..

but i know a D300 imo isnt worth the extra bucks to upgrade from a D90. it is basically the same thing with different body. High iso performance and dynamic range is better on the D90 at dxo. The only advantage imo is the weather sealed body which is great (but heavy) for outdoor/wildlife photographers.

Glad that nikon fixes the ok button on the D300s though..as compared to the button on the D300. yup. 5.9k..minus d90 body 3k = 2.9k

if i got a d90 body i can get a few 2nd hand lenses..hehe.. maybe tokina 11-16 + a prime or zoom..or the older af-d 80-200 f/2.9 push pull.

I thought the 51 AF Point on d300 is one of the biggest advantage over d90?

Go with the SB600. The SB28 is really really old and no TTL for dSLRs.

hmm..i nearly bought the d300 before landing a d90 to myself (i bought d90 before testing it hahahh).....

IMHO, the attractions in d300 is
1) 51 AF points with 15 crossed sensors! (tried the 51 points and its AWESOME!)
2) better grip and size (it can be tiring too)
3) faster machine (6fps IINM, larger buffer)
4) better metering

however, the price and video in D90 caught my attention. alto i hardly use my video (only less than 5 videos thus far) but hello, that's the thing now in dslr hahha...
if D300 is RM500 more exp i will grab it adi but its 1k+ sad.gif....

(ps: noob like me had some misfired AF with D90, thanks to 1 cross sensor heheh). canon 7d introduced a very brilliant AF mechanism with the ability to contorl the size of the AF points which i find it really useful...as well as zone AF....hope to see this in the upcoming nikon smile.gif....

(canon and sony launched a lot of stuffs lately oh~)
