The 11-16mm is really, really short. As much as you can love the f2.8, the range is sadly quite lacking.

QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Sep 2 2009, 01:55 PM) 77mm is easy to find. I think a few shops have it. The price is a killer. Its a bit too expensive for me to consider it. Easily half the price I paid for a D70s. Added on September 2, 2009, 2:16 pm QUOTE(alpha_company @ Sep 2 2009, 12:49 PM) EDITED: sorry for the mistake..i didnt notice. thanks for pointing it out Sp00kY I do weddings (sporadically) and yes, while I do take group shots with the 11-16mm, I find the group shots taken by 24-70mm way better. The distortion is just weird for a group pic. It's not like that at all actually. Tamron DO NOT YET produce lenses with high-speed & silent autofocusing motors like HSM (Sigma), SWM (AF-S Nikon), SSM (Sony), USM (Canon). There's basically two types of built in motor, Ring-type and Micro. -- Ring-type is normally found in large-aperture and super telephoto lenses. -- Micro is used in more compact lenses. Tamron lenses which have built in motor all use the micro type motor which is slower than the internal bdoy motor. It is also noisier. Example: Ring-type motor - Nikon AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 Micro-type motor - Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (A16NII - model number which indicate the built in motor version) Added on September 2, 2009, 12:59 pm Yes the range of Tokina 1116 if compared to Sigma 1020 is limited but maybe that is why the IQ is better than the Sigma. A DX normal wide at 18mm is definitely not enough, ask any who does weddings or events. Lets say you have a group photo and you dont have enough space to move backwards...what will u do to take the whole group in your shot? UWA. To put a bride and groom in a short distance away from my camera so that they are clearly seen in the pic and at the same time have a wide scenery...this aint possible with even the tamron 1750. not wide enuff... Yeah, I go shooting with a friend or two..this aint rambo where i can just shoot alone, i need backup.. and maybe your weddings are like super big la, because I haven't taken a group shot where the 24-70mm on a DX body can't take the group shot. So far, I can say that the 18mm and the 24mm on the DX body has been enough for group shots. I even have to use 16mm and take a few steps closer for most group shot. QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Sep 2 2009, 02:27 PM) I found it harder to find the 67mm Shops tend to stock the larger ones. Oh wait, might have gotten it confused. Is 77mm the de facto filter size for Nikon pro grade lenses or is it 72mm? |

Ahh yes, then the 77mm is common. Which mean the R72 is available. And so you can poison yourself silly with it.

QUOTE(qzplx @ Sep 3 2009, 12:06 PM) Hi, Go with the SB600. The SB28 is really really old and no TTL for dSLRs. I just bought Nikon D90, and now I'm intrested to buy Flash, but Im a bit confused to choose between sb600 or SB28, I have limited budget.. QUOTE(Sp00kY @ Sep 3 2009, 12:19 PM) hmm..i nearly bought the d300 before landing a d90 to myself (i bought d90 before testing it hahahh)..... Hrmm thats pretty weird. unless I set the wB wrongly from previous sunset shoot IMHO, the attractions in d300 is 1) 51 AF points with 15 crossed sensors! (tried the 51 points and its AWESOME!) 2) better grip and size (it can be tiring too) 3) faster machine (6fps IINM, larger buffer) 4) better metering however, the price and video in D90 caught my attention. alto i hardly use my video (only less than 5 videos thus far) but hello, that's the thing now in dslr hahha... if D300 is RM500 more exp i will grab it adi but its 1k+ (ps: noob like me had some misfired AF with D90, thanks to 1 cross sensor heheh). canon 7d introduced a very brilliant AF mechanism with the ability to contorl the size of the AF points which i find it really useful...as well as zone AF....hope to see this in the upcoming nikon (canon and sony launched a lot of stuffs lately oh~) Added on September 3, 2009, 12:22 pm awesome timing and framing..love it... I was expecting an IR shot from u before the pic loads hehehe.. WB a bit off...slightly cold (bluish)...just my 2 cents. QUOTE(mafiaboy34 @ Sep 3 2009, 01:09 PM) Lol thanks. I did post IR pics, a couple of pages back I think |

QUOTE(the_tranny @ Sep 3 2009, 03:00 PM) I owned an 11-16 Tokina months ago. Its great. Then i fell in love with Nikon 12-24 (and hated 11-16 end to end) and i live happily ever after lol it was. err as natural as i shot it I thought that bluish purple tint on that yawning lion is natural. QUOTE(Sp00kY @ Sep 3 2009, 03:09 PM) yupp i agree...its very subjective and boils down to personal preference Haha exactly as you see it. Its the AF Nikkor 300mm f/4. Old piece of glass. I think YL now has a used AF-S version for sale. i prefer something like that: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « None the less, a good shot can be PP to anything, urs is a sharp and good one 70-200??: |

If you obsess yourself with taking shots, then sure thing. Things have to be in moderation.
It doesn't mean that bringing a camera along on your trip = looking at everything through a viewfinder. Who said you have to take a shot of everything? |

QUOTE(robindebean @ Sep 11 2009, 10:08 AM) agree. Haha Ive been known as the non-human photographer when I travel, so people dont ask me to take their shots. They have their own PnS to do so but there is one thing i dont really like if you are out in a group for vacation or any outing and you are the only one having dslr your pic will be 20% and theirs will be 80% QUOTE(daze @ Sep 11 2009, 10:11 AM) sound like..i shouldn't worry bout wat lens i should bring for my future trip. The point of a vacatino is to enjoy it ma just travel light. with a 50mm & ultra wide. and enjoy d vacation. |

QUOTE(adthely @ Nov 24 2009, 08:01 PM) used D90 body around Rm2.5k, phottix batt grip around rm150, 18-70mm nikkor rm800-900, 50mm f/1.8 rm300, sb-600 rm400-600 ahh ic. Those sounds pretty good. Assuming everything is out of warranty except the 50mm I guess everything will fetch its bare minimum pricing. So RM3.7k for the whole lot is a good price?used price dat i surveyed. QUOTE(fisherman10 @ Nov 24 2009, 08:12 PM) Er. RM3.7k? hahaQUOTE(zm__ @ Nov 24 2009, 08:13 PM) too low? damn i thought those were on the high side already |

QUOTE(fisherman10 @ Nov 24 2009, 08:27 PM) conditions are... lol used. Heavily used but no major flaws. Its definitely not mint out-of-the-box condition. SC? good one. Err yet to check but i estimate... 10k? maybe less. Reason for selling? Going to retire for the moment. |
