AF-S 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G DX ED AF-S 12-24mm f/4.0G DX IF-ED Price how much? compare to Tokina/Sigma? Frankly, i like sigma because of HSM tom_k3nt: could it be ur kingston problem? im using Toshiba class 6 16gb and i have encounter anything like that thus far.. I had bad exp with 1750 so im have prejudice against third party lenses..so sorry..i like tamron built but sigma's color (1750 vs sigma 1770) i heard tokina is one step above these guys This post has been edited by Sp00kY: Sep 1 2009, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Sep 1 2009, 05:36 PM) I dont trust kingston at all.. I always avoid removing cards that is why i bought 16gb hahhaha dun have to remove and put in...because sd looks fragile wei..but then personal preferences lar..go Sandisk or Transcend.. i recommend getting two 4GB Transcend Class 6 SDHC, each at around rm50. dont gamble on just one 16GB..if its lost/broken, all your images will go away with it It is HIGHLY advisable to reformat memory card after transfer of large amounts of images to computer to prevent errors.. i reformat mine after each assignment/work/outing.. i always format my card after i loaded it into my pc too |

a question on SB600, is there a faster way to disable flash instead of turning the SB600 off?

QUOTE(jsc_tidus @ Sep 2 2009, 01:20 AM) 1 function button only.. the other one is dof preview button, but u can assigned it to other function also. Oh thanks, i shall try it out later.....afterall i dont use the DOF button at all...so, its like this? bodies that have built in motor will focus faster with lens without motor? QUOTE(alpha_company @ Sep 2 2009, 06:51 AM) It's not like that at all actually. Tamron DO NOT YET produce lenses with high-speed & silent autofocusing motors like HSM (Sigma), SWM (AF-S Nikon), SSM (Sony), USM (Canon). Correct me if i'm wrong, tamron is using MICRO MOTOR There's basically two types of built in motor, Ring-type and Micro. -- Ring-type is normally found in large-aperture and super telephoto lenses. -- Micro is used in more compact lenses. Tamron lenses which have built in motor all use the ring type motor which is slower than the internal bdoy motor. It is also noisier. all AF-S lenses using Ring type? QUOTE(alpha_company @ Sep 2 2009, 08:12 AM) yeah..me too.. afaik all ultra wide lenses have that prob but the distortion with the sigma is quite ugly at the edges at 10mm (at least imo) and the worst part is that the distortion is complex and cannot be fixed by software while other uwa's distortion is still correctable. can clearly see the faces of people getting stretched etc...just unnatural.. but if landscape only ok la.. I find HDR is only suitable for landscape and that panning shot can be much better how's my panning? the car is slow la..cant see the blurring effect in the background so much..unlike f1, a1 or other circuit races..hdr'ed it..hehe » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Added on September 2, 2009, 8:13 am your advice on an uwa lens? or experience with any uwa lenses? care to share? need some info here.. QUOTE(KTCY @ Sep 2 2009, 09:21 AM) I don't think it will works on film cameras as this is a DX lenses. (Correct me if I wrong). Nicely done .......I like the tones..Quite easy to find. Price tagged at RM 2,3xx lately. I never face any focus problems. So far so good A photo taken by Tokina 11-16 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(HiroBoroi @ Sep 2 2009, 09:25 AM) HDR is like PP la. No point to do PP if the original image isn't nice. Best to work on the composition, shutter speed to get the right blur effect. Once everything is nice, then only you decide to HDR or further PP. Agree!!!!Discard the image if its not nice...unless that is the only image I have and I want to keep that moment in my photo album With regard to UWA specifically the Tokina 11-16 for weddings, I think the range is too limited and it is very very wide at the long end. I have no experience doing any paid photography, but I imagine with so much going on during a wedding, you don't want to be taking on and off lenses in order to capture the moment, unless of course you have two camera bodies with two different lenses attached. Even then, perhaps a normal wide will be more than enough. This post has been edited by Sp00kY: Sep 2 2009, 10:21 AM |

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 2 2009, 02:00 PM) 77mm is easy to find. I think a few shops have it. The price is a killer. Its a bit too expensive for me to consider it. my old sigma 1770 has weird distortion at 17mm too Easily half the price I paid for a D70s. Added on September 2, 2009, 2:16 pm I do weddings (sporadically) and yes, while I do take group shots with the 11-16mm, I find the group shots taken by 24-70mm way better. The distortion is just weird for a group pic. and maybe your weddings are like super big la, because I haven't taken a group shot where the 24-70mm on a DX body can't take the group shot. So far, I can say that the 18mm and the 24mm on the DX body has been enough for group shots. I even have to use 16mm and take a few steps closer for most group shot. i think 11mm is too wide for me to use in order to get a good composition, 16~18mm may be good enuf. MFD matters to me more than the focal length.. how nice if 50mm MFD is 30cm |

QUOTE(alpha_company @ Sep 3 2009, 10:44 AM) well...i dont know if there are significant changes in the low noise at high iso or other improvements in terms of image quality.. hmm..i nearly bought the d300 before landing a d90 to myself (i bought d90 before testing it hahahh).....but i know a D300 imo isnt worth the extra bucks to upgrade from a D90. it is basically the same thing with different body. High iso performance and dynamic range is better on the D90 at dxo. The only advantage imo is the weather sealed body which is great (but heavy) for outdoor/wildlife photographers. Glad that nikon fixes the ok button on the D300s though..as compared to the button on the D300. yup. 5.9k..minus d90 body 3k = 2.9k if i got a d90 body i can get a few 2nd hand lenses..hehe.. maybe tokina 11-16 + a prime or zoom..or the older af-d 80-200 f/2.9 push pull. IMHO, the attractions in d300 is 1) 51 AF points with 15 crossed sensors! (tried the 51 points and its AWESOME!) 2) better grip and size (it can be tiring too) 3) faster machine (6fps IINM, larger buffer) 4) better metering however, the price and video in D90 caught my attention. alto i hardly use my video (only less than 5 videos thus far) but hello, that's the thing now in dslr hahha... if D300 is RM500 more exp i will grab it adi but its 1k+ (ps: noob like me had some misfired AF with D90, thanks to 1 cross sensor heheh). canon 7d introduced a very brilliant AF mechanism with the ability to contorl the size of the AF points which i find it really useful...as well as zone AF....hope to see this in the upcoming nikon (canon and sony launched a lot of stuffs lately oh~) Added on September 3, 2009, 12:22 pm QUOTE(zio @ Sep 3 2009, 12:15 PM) Go with the SB600. The SB28 is really really old and no TTL for dSLRs. awesome timing and framing..love it...On a trip to the zoo, say hello » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « More on the National Zoo, click here I was expecting an IR shot from u before the pic loads hehehe.. WB a bit off...slightly cold (bluish)...just my 2 cents. This post has been edited by Sp00kY: Sep 3 2009, 12:22 PM |

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 3 2009, 02:54 PM) No problem yupp i agree...its very subjective and boils down to personal preference i prefer something like that: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « None the less, a good shot can be PP to anything, urs is a sharp and good one 70-200??: This post has been edited by Sp00kY: Sep 3 2009, 03:10 PM |
