The video processor, the sound processor and all the different brand had different hardware. That definite the quality. There are player that cost 400 to player that cost 4000. You will have to research more into the player that you want.

I'd prefer Sony as Sony is the main boss in BD industry. Least BD compatibility issue.

I don't think is compatibility issue, I think is ahem issue.  Original BD discs should not have any issue in playing in any brand of Blu-ray players. Only problem is ahem disc that I believe have problem on build quality.

Hey just to share. I'm using Sony BDP-S490. No prob with both ehem BD and DVD (including Rm10 for 3x type) Of coz if $ is not an issue my heart always with ori BD.

P.S - The DVD upscalling is Superb!! Even for cheap ehem DVD (must be mastercopy ehem), their quality improved tremendously after upscaled to 1080p. Forgot to mention playing MKV from my BD player is way better than my HDTV too.

Hi guys, I have a noob question. I have just bought a Phillips 3d bluray 5.1 home theater yesterday. No problem playing pirate 3D bluray dvds. I downloaded a 3D bluray movie online, copied to a thumbdrive and played on the BDP. The 3D and the 5.1 were not working. Did I miss out something?

Hi,

Its expensive for different reasons.. if u want a cheap passable player then dont go lookin for quality gear..BTW, how much is de 450??
O ya, n you have to consider your accompanying gear.. if u got kick ass 10k avr, then pairing wif a RM200 bdp is kinda wrong, dont u tink??

Even if you think they are expensive, you cannot buy them now. Oppo 93 & 95 have ceased production and replaced by 103 & 105 which are not cinevia free.

Sony 3D Bluray player has problem to play pirated bluray. Not disc problem because it is working for my old model Panasonic bluray player.

Anyone sifu here has experience with philips bdp3480?

Do you really can see/hear any different in quality by using cheap and expensive bluray player? I tot as long as the player can support bitstream audio. Then your AVR will handle all the decoding.

Sony does not allow that. They have a certain way of 'locking' the disc. Original discs are the way to go. If you know how to seek for cheap deals, especially on Amazon, you'll be surprised that they will cost less than your "ahem' disc smile.gif

The hardware on the player do have some effect quality to audio and especially the video

I wish I have chance to compare side by side, because for me, as long as you set your bluray player to bitstream audio, the audio decoding will be done at the AVR side, so basically the player is just transferring the original file from bluray disc to AVR.
