Yeah WWs change colour. When it's cold they turn white. If warm, they return to their agouti summer colour.
Don't torture your hamsters by making things cold though (in Malaysia it's not even guarenteed). Sometimes they change without much reason. Love your hammies as themselves, not their coat |

how red is it? did u try google it up?
anyway i have my own problem too, anyone can help? i tried to mate my 2 dwarfs today, they were previously in separate cages from the day i bought them till now.. anyway, i put both of them in a neutral container with the intention to let them mate.. however, the girl (virgin) seem reluctant to do it.. when the male tried to mount her, she kept her backside on the ground, and stayed in a round shape.. so no way for him to do it.. what should i do? Female : 3-4months old Male : 6-8months old This post has been edited by pisces88: Oct 24 2009, 02:49 PM |

QUOTE(pisces88 @ Oct 24 2009, 02:48 PM) how red is it? did u try google it up? Erm...try put them in separate cage which the cages next to each other for 2 weeks...anyway i have my own problem too, anyone can help? i tried to mate my 2 dwarfs today, they were previously in separate cages from the day i bought them till now.. anyway, i put both of them in a neutral container with the intention to let them mate.. however, the girl (virgin) seem reluctant to do it.. when the male tried to mount her, she kept her backside on the ground, and stayed in a round shape.. so no way for him to do it.. what should i do? Female : 3-4months old Male : 6-8months old Take both out sometime and put on floor with toys and foods to play together... Slowly let them build up some relationship 1st... This is what I usually do to let a male and a female hamster pak toh 1st de... hehe... ended up they will become very lovely and can even sleep together next to each other... If the above approach failed, then I think the female WW is very reluctant to the male... And...they shouldn't be mated as happened to one pair of my male and female WW before as well... Hope that helps... Cheers |

Your hamster is so cute, she deserves a better home. I don't think I see a wheel there too.
The most basic setup is a 2 feet fish-tank, a wodent wheel and a bottle. It'll last you for a long, long time |

If the hamsters were kept in a dark place before, they would show their winter coat, which is greyish white. If temperature drops, that also happens. They can change anytime as it depends on the hamster's body reaction to its surroundings. It is very normal.QUOTE(JusticeDeserves @ Oct 24 2009, 02:03 PM) Red eyes are normal. Russian campbell and syrians have red eyes but it is never and should not be seen in WW or Robos.QUOTE(pisces88 @ Oct 24 2009, 02:48 PM) how red is it? did u try google it up? Why breed them? Anyway, dwarf hamsters cannot be mated like that lah. Your way is for syrian, just that you have to know when the Syrian female is on heat.anyway i have my own problem too, anyone can help? i tried to mate my 2 dwarfs today, they were previously in separate cages from the day i bought them till now.. anyway, i put both of them in a neutral container with the intention to let them mate.. however, the girl (virgin) seem reluctant to do it.. when the male tried to mount her, she kept her backside on the ground, and stayed in a round shape.. so no way for him to do it.. what should i do? Female : 3-4months old Male : 6-8months old Dwarfs need to have a bond. They need to feel that they are compatible with each other to breed. Please read on breeding, your way of trying to breed them at 1st meeting in a neutral ground is wrong. They need time, it is not instant matings like how Syrians do it. |

All the while I treat my hamsters like human de...my WWs I will let the male and female pak toh... but I not really aware about the bond thingy... as in dunno how to put it in words... However, I found that my WWs who start to play together 1st, turn out to become very sweet and lovely... Siao Bai and Siao Chu are the most lovely couple I have so far, they really can sleep together and like hugging each other... so well I always believed there's some bond between them. Until now, carzymouse mentioned this "bond" I can double confirm it actually exists Thanks for the new info for me again Cheers This post has been edited by LalaBubbles: Oct 25 2009, 10:26 PM |

Dwarfs need to have dating and courting first before babies happen heheheh.... that's their special bond.
