Elite Chew. Nope i can't. I got 'new member' coming. I can't drill hole on walls at home to mount wall bracket.
But it's value for money for 63" 16999 less 3.5k for the htib...should be 13k...ish...around the price in US lor

I am too peasant for this PS63B680 sweat.gif 50" plasma was just side by side and it looked damn tiny with the Panny 65" and Sammy 63"... sweat.gif

Ooh...congrats taukeh Ronald...thumbup.gif

Anyways, I dunno but the IQ on the 50" B650 looked better than the 63" B680 side by side...

As you said it's AR filter that makes the difference.

Seems like the 63" selling well as they are stocking it for display.
Compared to 65" V10 that is priced at 39999. Sammy 63" is very much value for money.
Sammy PQ looks a bit artifitial compared to V10.
Would Ms Chua carry this 63" as well?

Comparisons and Conclusion

I am an owner of a 2008 Panasonic plasma and a 2008 Pioneer Kuro standard, so I have some perspective from which to judge the 2009 Samsung plasmas. Because of its superior color accuracy and checkerboard contrast, I definitely prefer the Samsung over the Panasonic. I have not yet seen the 2009 G and V-series Panasonics, but what I have read leads me to surmise that the G-series offers little improvement over the 2008 model, and may even have taken a step back, especially in the THX mode. The V-series is a different matter. I'll update this review when I have a chance to spend some time with these models.

The Kuro Standard is a harder call. The Kuro's offer truly world-class black levels and checkerboard contrast. However, the Kuro Standards have mediocre color accuracy and grayscale. They also lack the necessary adjustments to make either any better. Calibrators can custom calibrate the grayscale on the Kuro Standards using an aftermarket tool called ControlCAL. But there's nothing even they can do about the color accuracy without installing a very expensive external video processor. If cost were no object, then I think that these panels are about even. The Samsung excels in color accuracy and the Kuro excels in black level and contrast. However, taking cost into account, I think I'd have to go with the Samsung. You can get a 58-inch Samsung plasma for less than a 50" Kuro would cost, if you can find one.

Quite simply, based on the flat panel displays I have spent some time with, none look better than the Samsung PN58B650. If I were buying a plasma today, this is the one I would get. Highly recommended.

IR for my panel has improved termendously!
been using my tv for bout 2 months now (i think)

it is hooked to my htpc and my contrast is rather high too. Setting is more or less the same as RonaldJoe gave me. Good setting! smile.gif Just some little adjustments to suit my quirky taste.

not much IR. smile.gif even if there is, it's easily removed.

just thought of sharing smile.gif

bro, which setting are you using now?
I am using hudaman's recommended setting.
I set it both to 24hz and 60hz 1080p input.

It's pretty easy, pen drive got to be in FAT32.

I am not very sure but colour seems better.

Yeah...The Kuro Standard is not available in Malaysia. The one that is available in Malaysia/Asia is comparable to Kuro elite.

I wish I could calibrate a Sammy to see the difference.

The Sammy has less noiser colours compared to the Kuros. However, the blacks are not as good.

The Kuro and the Sammy are a wash for colour accuracy.

Wonder if this PS50B650 can be called "poor man's Kuro Elite" or not. biggrin.gif

Anyways Sammy's 2010 plasma lineup also quite impressive, from what I read from CES reports...but with 3D capabilities sure it's going to cost a bomb. sad.gif

Added on January 21, 2010, 8:59 pmErr...wonder if the 550 is just as good as the 650? Sorry I can't read charts. biggrin.gif

Not a fanboy lah. If I can afford I'd get a KRP-500. I'd rather be a Pioneer fanboy but alas...sad.gif

Bro when are you buying? The Sammy sales rep told me 2010 models will be out circa April/May timeframe. Can wait for those or get discount during 2009 model clearance biggrin.gif
