QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jan 21 2010, 07:20 PM) Yeah...The Kuro Standard is not available in Malaysia. The one that is available in Malaysia/Asia is comparable to Kuro elite. no need to wish..i'm getting this sammy model for CNY..would be honored if u willing to calibrate for me...can pm me ur cost..i hv a spears & munsil calibration bd too..I wish I could calibrate a Sammy to see the difference. The Sammy has less noiser colours compared to the Kuros. However, the blacks are not as good. The Kuro and the Sammy are a wash for colour accuracy. Gonna hook pioneer bdp320 & a POHD(for now) to this tv.. My loc in pj only...if u willing i'll be more than glad to hv sifu calibrate for me |

QUOTE(jimmyteng18 @ Jan 22 2010, 08:56 AM) Bro, I hope the price will go down or have some discount but I don't really think so for the 50" models. new models coming out with 3D tech is it? if that's the case, then conventional plasma price wouldn't be affected too much i think...I PMed Ms.Chua and this plasma still at same price since 3 months ago. But,the LED price is going down a bit for 46"B6000. I hope to get this 50B650 before CNY. anyways la...cant wait liao..will definitely get it for CNY...best price i got so far, RM5k with standard samsung warranty F.O.C. Iron |

since iiposted i can get this tv for RM5k (yes 5k on the dot) ther's been quite a few who pm me and ask for the seller contact or shop name..
The thing is the seller is a fren of my wife..and all i know the shop is in seremban..nothing more than tat.. But to those who's 100% serious of getting this tv..i'll be getting my set this coming saturday 06-feb..i've check with the seller & he's willing to sell at same price to truly interested forumers here..but the pick up will be on same day so he can save a bit on the delivery from s'ban... Which means..those really interested can pm me & confirm & they can stand by the moolah for a cod deal this coming saturday near my crib in damansara perdana, PJ. As a statement..i hv no part in this sale..i'm not making anything out of it..just helping fellow HT forumers getting the best deal..but pls dun confirm & then FFK cos it'll be really really bad for my frend...i cant take any deposit as its not my deal..can only take ur word as confirmation.. |

i downloaded the break-in disc from avforums if not mistaken...cant remember now...basically the disc shows colors and slides from 1 color to another in about 3mins...it will be repeating like that...apparently it 'warms' up the phosphor...
but i find it quite a hassle going thru the break in process...cos this tv gets quite hot...i placed a small table fan & blast it full speed and have it pointed towards the back of the panel...but, what gets hot is not only the back of the panel...even the front also gets quite hot... first couple of times, after leaving it running for 6-8 hours...the entire living hall feels the heat from the tv...the last time i did the break in, i had to leave the air-con on in the living hall overnight.. anyways...for me, the screen scrolling helps...sometimes, i will let the screen scroll for about 20-30mins before i switch it off. i have been quite careful with how i use the tv...even sub-titles got burn in...i normally switched between 16:9 & full screen (2x) every 20-30mins during a movie...so black bars & subtitles wont burn in... |

actually...after a few times being scared about seeing traces of images...i now not really bothered..cos i know its temporary only...
but still quite wary of playing movie with 2 black bars top & bottom....even subtitles which changes with every dialogue also stuck there... |

hey guys....the black & white thing seems to be happening more often now...i've now got it twice more since i posted here last week. both time immediately after 1 switched on the tv...
this morning again it happened...and this time i notice, the power on LED (red color) on the TV keeps blinking...and just like previous times, i switched it off & on and it came back normal... now i'm beginning to worry... how to connect the tv to my notebook so i can take a snapshot of it when it happens again? |

QUOTE(temppei @ Mar 10 2010, 09:57 AM) bro, i might do that...anyway i got a 1 year all risk insurance...but the thing is, i kinda damaged the physical a little bit during the mounting of the TV onto the wall bracket...me being really dumb...so dunno if they still can replace the TV for me...u better call desa and ask them to swap ur tv man. i got mine swapped for a new one without much hassle. mine were stuck pixels and occasional flashing pixels. cant really proof it to them, but they took my word and swap one for me. call me kiasu or wuteverlah. i'm mighty happy after the change i'll wait for it to happen again...maybe will take a snap shot using phone so i can at least show to them...very difficult to explain using words... another thing is...it took 3 person |

hi guys, the B&W thing happened again yesterday...i managed to snap a shot using my phone...it may not be as clear, but the best thing i have at that time was my phone...
the effect is quite similar to if u tuned the contrast low and brighten up the brightness level...everything in B&W...and quite simply, switch it off, and on again, and it's ok... quite puzzled with this...what u guys think i should do? contact Samsung or Desa HT? |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Mar 16 2010, 05:56 PM) Looks like a colour space mismatch or HDMI issue? Is it always on the same input? Are other inputs also in B&W when this happens? QUOTE(de_lasoul @ Mar 16 2010, 06:52 PM) I have the same issue with POHD, but mine is Pink and not B&W. I think this is basically a bug from POHD which failed to communicate with certain TV models. So the POHD goes into the lowest resolution mode(or default), which has compatibility issue to display properly with the TV, that is why u may experience low res and colour incompatibility. Other devices such as PS3 & Sony BD Player do not experience this. its not only from POHD...i've experienced the same thing from my BD player & Astro as well..so i think it's not a problem with POHD.POHD's latest firmware did mention it will solve resolution/signal compatibility with certain TV/models, I still wonder if this is the solution for your problem. But I heard this firmware is still buggy, hence I did not update accordingly. If you wanna confirm, try another device using the same HDMI point and cable and see if you still experience the same B&W. If not, then it is from the POHD, not the TV. QUOTE(temppei @ Mar 17 2010, 11:14 AM) bro, i think i might buy myself a new HDMI cable to try first before calling anyone...no spare ones currently...i really am trying to avoid having to take the tv down again Call desa first, see what solution they can offer, if they say they can swap a new tv for u then good. if you call directly to samsung, doubt they will change a new set for u, most prolly they will take back ur unit and fix it. just curious, is it a direct hdmi connection to your tv, or it goes thru ur amp first? TV HDMI input is from AVR. all my players go through AVR... |

just an update on the B&W experience i'm getting on my Samsung display. yes, the phenomenon is still happening from time to time, and i think its getting from bad to worst..
i'm now getting the B&W display, plus square boxes like an empty excel worksheet..all over the display... but, here's what i notice so far...the B&W thing happens only IF i turn on the AVR before the TV. if i were to turn the TV on before anything else, the display is normal.. so, i'm beginning to feel the problem may not be the display after all...it could be the AVR..being switched on before TV... maybe u guys can give it a try? if u dun mind...may not happen every time...maybe once every 5-6 try.... as for the IR.....yes, this samsung model is quite prone to IR..and very noticeable even if static image is left on for very very short period of time...but so far, its never permanent...in the beginning i get really phobia scared of IR...but after a few weeks...i know the problem is not permanent...so screw it...but still, i use the scrolling wash whenever possible...after that ok liao... as for black bars...every 20-30mins i will zoom in the display to 2x, fill up the entire screen for 5-10mins...that was in the beginning...now even a 1.5hrs movie i dun bother...just remember to scroll wash the screen after that...or play a full screen movie after that...it will wash them IR away...
