the drop today wiped out gains from 3-4 days ago on some of my stocks. that was pretty fast.
i'm not taking the CI as a reliable barometer anymore. rather look at top 20 most active stocks. |

ok, i've changed my outlook, market sentiment's gone really south. there's a lot of volume dumping today. my best guess is retail investors and contra traders all dumping. conspiracy theories suggest EPF's dumping to revise their positions.

WOW... HSI down 820points....
So far CI's damage seems minor, i guess mainly because 2nd/3rd liners didnt go up a lot recently. TM got some big shot support, back to 3.00... This post has been edited by mopster: Jul 29 2009, 02:58 PM |

Added on July 29, 2009, 2:52 pm Now you must be relief that your counters are holding up well If there is to be a significant correction to the KLCI than i will be in a position of advantage... due to the fact my counters hardly move or stay where they are, of course low ABP also helps. ... lets see whether may gamble pays off.. Defensive line up Axreit TM Bjtoto.. Portfolio, Paper Gain 3.0%, this morning was 4.0% lets see what tricks KLCI gonna pull out this time. Actually holding up good counters for rainy days also important as well as allocating some for growth. My growth stocks shaking now, but still way above my buying price. If there is to be a significant correction to the KLCI than i will be in a position of advantage... due to the fact my counters hardly move or stay where they are, of course low ABP also helps. ... lets see whether may gamble pays off.. I think u'll have to decide what the long term market sentiments are.
Bull market? Or one multi-month bear market rally. |

I got a question...
If a counter usually declare dividend on Apr and Aug every year base on the history but this year they declared dividend on Apr and right issue on Jun, so is there high chances that they wont declare dividend on Aug? |

QUOTE(! Love Money @ Jul 29 2009, 06:04 PM) odd lot brokerage fees still same... i just sell my 450 units of maybank rights few month ago through my OSK remiser... RM40 My odd lot only 7 shares which if I sell not enough to cover brokerage fee. In which case, if i sell the even lots, so probably just leave it. Is there any minimum that we need to maintain in the account ? |

Shareholders list is about entitlement date, (my apology) just ordinary retailers can just stick the ex-date for reference, as delivery of shares and transferring for T+2/3 is automatic nowadays. |

QUOTE(Mikiyo @ Jul 29 2009, 11:27 PM) You can sell on 29 to entitle the dividend if the ex-date is 29, that's fir sure. The entitlement date is about transferring of share into the CDS account, which if not understand, just stick with the ex-date will do, as under CDS, you don't need to worry about the entitlement date. Previously under cert time, entitlement date is the date we must register the share into our name to entitle the dividend. With now computerised scriptless and auto transfer, don't need to bother much. |

Odd lot brokerage is RM 12 plus clearing fee plus stamp duty.
Odd lot means anything less than 100 shares. If you sold 450 units ,it is actually 4 board lots of 100 units each and 50 units odd lots amalgamated into one contract,in which case, the minimum of RM40 applicable to board lot is charged. Had you sold only the 50 units, then the commission rate is RM12. |

The US dollar index is testing resistance aka previous support. As you can see, the SPX is trying to test the inverse h&s neckline with RSI at 50 which shows tremendous support.
Like i said, this is a bull market, rather than a bear market rally. The main reason is, Investors want the market to drop so they can buy before its too late. Those investors are "underinvested". So believe in your analysis, oil dropping at 4 dollars are a reaction of euro dropping like a rock along with a bearish inventory. Good thing is, China will reduce fuel prices. |

DB IT's all about buying when there's a panic selling, such as today when shanghai crashed. That was a good opportunity to daytrade some high volume stocks. For Tanjong, it's all about your timeframe, how long do you want to hold and do you feel comfortable buying at that PRICE? Here are some tips that might help to identify a dip. Contra play requires a very capable technical ability to identify short term oversold base on the timeframe you are using. Since contra is T+4 for some, it is highly advisable to only purchase stocks when 4 hr chart is oversold, with possible candlestick (inverted hammer, hammer, doji, piercing engulfing) Please use 2 technical indicators the most with moving averages as support and resistance. IF you are a pure chartist, support and resistance or (SR) and trendline are useful to identify possible entry and EXIT points. IF i do hold a class, i will explain this in further details. Added on July 30, 2009, 12:52 amDB, if you don't do contra, please focus on the weekly and daily chart patterns, or technical indicators. Seems like a series of things going wrong. First the CSI selloff then oil inventories pushing crude down...commodities may retreat now. Also i read a story of a Nymex official commenting on how they're looking into introducing regulations such as making it mandatory to take contract deliveries on crude in an effort to curb speculation/manipulation...this is very interesting.....

Well, there are news for the pullback is just for this particular 2 days.. how far it goes will be the new beginning for the month August09 . Its a start the big players trying to make for the upcoming new policies to run. Its a ritual setting for the month of August supported by majority though.
Well, still another speculation news, and what is happening overseas on the pullback yesterday seems subsiding and easing off from the cliff drop. Will check out today's response and performance of all small cap counters. Rally for the 1st of August going to be interesting after all . Wish all with Best of Lucks @@ |

Checking in.
In my humble opinion, people in Asia have chasen up the goreng stocks too high. Perhaps time for them to take a re look at some fundamentally good stocks. Or else buying some of the warrants of blue chips ( as suggested by Kenanga ) to hedge for next year ( better economy ). I still believe DOW would cross 10,000 this year. The bull is real. Up or down is just a daily affair, longer term still uptrend. Just my personal opinion. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Jul 30 2009, 08:41 AM |

I have sent out newsletter this morning issuing a call to buy, as i can see 1200 coming due to dow's and spx strength. Please check with me if you don't have it.
As for KNM, yes, i will buy on dips and keep it but for contra play i will watch oil prices. My TP still remains at 1.00 for my remaining shares. |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Jul 30 2009, 09:30 AM) You would be surprised Chinese consume a lot of commodities and so on. If one has been in China, you can see there are lot of wastage and non-efficient of utilisation even on foods and restaurant front, don't know how much foods is wasted daily, just simply throw away. Does not always have to export. Taking over Japan as the 2nd largest GDP soon. Go to eat ordinary lunch or dinner for a table of 10, surely come out at least 8-10 dishes, where can people finish it all the time. There got some culture, if the clients finish the dishes means the host is kedekut (seem as no face) aka the clients having not enough, so must have plenty of foods being left, only show generousity. Just my experience, no offence. |

Now everyone is watching whether China is bubble in making or just a correction.
Loan rate increase previously months has been shooting to the roof which indicated too hot for financial market to handle which this issue has been raised a few week ago or so. China market going down right now. |

Ya, my brother in law just back from China says the same thing.Go to eat ordinary lunch or dinner for a table of 10, surely come out at least 8-10 dishes, where can people finish it all the time. Just my experience, no offence. Many years back , these people lining up waiting for some gifts to be handed out. Now they bring him to the Restaurants few times a week for dinners. Their SME still doing OK with local consumptions, need to import labour from Far North. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Jul 30 2009, 11:37 AM |

China is a bubble in the making already. Their govt is very worry that people are borrowing cheap money
to buy speculative stocks instead of "investing" or building business or infrastructure. China is the next America (becoming spenders). America is the next China (becoming savers). |

"in the sense everyone was making money, expectation was high, and the market seems like it would never crash" - hence the term false expectations. When Banks are tightening credit, the destruction of the only other source of raising capital i.e. StockMarket would ultimately be armegeddon. The situation now is more like the devil and the deep blue sea. personally i think China is doing it wrong. its a painful recovery, ppl may have to write in a couple of million times before they get a job... but one thing is for sure, a crash can happen overnight but a cure will take years. Little information can be obtained, also when they want to do IPO time, generally, they will try out the best to 'make up' as good as its look. Cherroy, I found that this IPO (Multi Sport) somehow quite hard to read as compared to Handal or Samchem... Maybe I"m not in reading mood today...

Goreng syndicate tends to like new stock as they are still clean, so very easy to goreng especially on the first day as there are no people trap at higher price before, so little selling pressure can be expected and easy push the price up.
Unlike some old name goreng stock, once reach certain price (previously most people bought one), you can see massive selling force coming out. |

QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Jul 30 2009, 10:38 PM) hm, not sure how OnG gonna hold out tomorrow. I think those numbers were kinda expected - so shouldn't do too much damage IMHO. Yesterday everyone worried KNM would tank but it didn't (well, not really!). Shell and ExxonMobil posts profit drops of 66% and 67% respectively in 2Q. |

The dilemma of to chase or not to chase eh?
MOST of the time, you can get it cheaper if u wait. But if you don't chase, you'll ABSOLUTELY miss that rare runaway rally. What say you? |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Jul 30 2009, 11:13 PM) Definitely Irrational Exuberance. You know what, now even hedge fund managers are 'kiasu' right now. Everyone scare not having enough equities so that their report card won't be lag behind the market. We are so top heavy, I'm expecting a nice pullback.. but just too many dip buyers at the door. The earnings are guided so low, most companies can beat 'em easily. All "less bad" become "Recession is Over!" This is pure madness!! I tell ya! Everyone is taking ecstasy pill. By next quarter, reality may come in and say.. hey.. where's the earnings, where's the growth, where's the jobs? Previously, people scare off depression, now they scare off not investing enough! If market is going up more, and you as a fund manager doesn't buy enought to on par with broader market performance or indices, you are screwed big time, could hurt your performance rating big time. That's why market is up, up and up, never pull back at all. Everyone is buying, whether want to buy or need to buy. Just like locally, once people put money in ASM, PNB only mandate is to buy stock in the market eventually KLCI continue to go up, disregard whether the stock price is a bit on the high side or has risen too fast or too much. They need to buy. They can't put your money in bank as cash. This is what happening right now. As long as there is no seller that urgent to sell or need the cash one, some buying activities will suppport the market already. Having said that, we need real economy recovery, and earning recovery over the long term so that this rally has a real leg. |

Yes, I was shorting energy.. this time, the market caught me. Last night morning, the crude oil was pretty bad. I was expecting it pull back to 60. US inventory was all time high: 5.1 milllion barrels of crude overstock Exxon/Esso (XOM) one of the dow component missed its earnings big time. 66% drop from last year, reported 0.83/share instead of expected 1.01/share. Steel and copper inventory was overflowing into Thames @ LME, China not buying, etc. Even the US jobless claim came out bad but the media spins as yet again as good. Less than 1 hour later. The Dow rallies 3 digits up. Oil lost -3 yesterday, today, it gained back +5 with no fundamentals support. Only at close, the Dow give back some as teaser. Tomorrow, US 2nd Qtr GDP will be released.. as usual, even it is a bad number, because the bulls are so pumped up with v-i-a-g-r-a, the bears will get sodomized no matter. Mr. Market. It takes 2-3 yrs from discovery to 1st oil..it will be interesting to see how this would impact O&G operator in another 3-4 yrs..i bet they will make tons of money....the only obstacle right now is to get the demand back..no demand = cheap oil price, simple as that. Watch out for those company that has close tie to Petronas..Scomi, KNM, Petronas has a tendency to bring this company where ever they go, 30 over country to list..I believe they will benefit alot from that move so watch out for them...FYI, On average, cost to produce 1 bbl of crude should lie somewhere around ~20-30 dollar for offshore operation...Just my 2 cents ---- I wanna see CCB firework today This post has been edited by Ka3tr0: Jul 31 2009, 08:21 AM |
