There seem to be a price range from RM610 all the way to RM699...  I was wondering all the units purchased from MYS retailers, will it be warrantied by them? Are these units all purchased from S'pore?

I did checked their website, seems they do have a authorised distributor here.

One of my friend bought it for lower than RM610. I cannot disclosed the actual price and shop name. And that's just one unit.

So the price range should be RM5xx - RM699.

Side topic, does grainy images produced also TV or player dependant? Like some TV may have them, and some may not although the movies are from the same source?
*
yes it's possible... grains from HD movies can be accentuated or softened by media players/BD players/HTPC and also displays.. whether these can be user controlled or not is the issue.. (usually for HTPC playback software, can control video post processing) for media players, it's in the firmware etc.. even PS3 has some post processing allowable but not much control...

if less than RM600, it is very cheap. Almost cost price to bring from S'pore. Still the variation of RM100 difference needs to be controlled to make it narrower. No control in pricing for this item.

Actually you can adjust the sharpness on the LCD/Plasma to make it more sharp but grainy, or more soft.
But I can't be bothered, I can't be adjusting my TV based on every movie I watch.. blush.gif

No probs...there is a newer release that is 16gb (rather than the 11gb one) which has better bit rates.

Trouble is, I can't find a 'live' link to it...seems like they are all dead or removed by the servers every time it is loaded.

Anyone know if  the POHD is still in stock at C-Zone or Viewnet ? if not what abt Digital Mall , PJ ?
*
There are still some units a Viewnet, CZone and even in Digital Mall. At least 2-3 units each.

Bot mine at Viewnet for $970 with Samsung 1.5TB HD last Saturday. Cost without HDD is $639. CZone selling lowest $650 and Digital Mall $675-680. Ah Boy from CZone says he never sold for less that $650. With all the chatter on this thread about lower $610 and lower, don't know who is telling the truth. I personally feel it's possible (see my experience below) but guess they need to protect the market as well. Does not matter either way as most of us are not Elite enough or have any Kang Tau to get any lower. These things requires building relationship with them. Newbie tak dak such relationship.

So the lowest so far for Newbie is actually buying in Singapore (~$580) or thru the lelong site that was listed in this thread $629 or you tumpang the seniors or those with jalan.

Just to relate an interesting happenning when I bot mine from Viewnet. I manage to bargain down to $950 for POHD with 1.5TB and even pay them the cash but when the sales person tried to enter for the bill, tak boleh masuk. Saw his face getting worried. Then saw him on the phone which he later says is with the Boss and they have locked the lowest price for ACRyan to $639. That was the price I got quoted when I call them over the phone last Friday. One of the senior sales guy told him to talk to me first. As I did not want to bother making an issue out of it and just wanted to get the unit and balik, I paid the extra $20. This all seem to indicate, based on the usual price in the system where they are allowed to discount a certain percentage, getting it at around $610 is possible but they are locking their price to ensure market price is set at a certain level. Just my guess.

Congrats on the purchase of the unit.
Perhaps you would like to do a review on the new unit of yours.
What file have you tested with it and how is the sound and picture quality?

As I am not high end user, most of my files are not HD quality. Have a lot of avi files

- I have tried on 2 HD file (720p and 1080p) mkv file. Love it on the 50inch plasma. But they are cartoons so usually look good. Will try on a movie once I get it.
- Also tried DVD iso. Quite good as well.
- avi file are also acceptable like cheap pasar malam DVD

All the above are about picture quality. I have not tried sound quality as I did not attach to my old amp. I am currently using hdmi to my plasma tv. In process of transfering file from NAS to POHD thru USB. Very slow process.

.mdf is a container, something like ISO so you can use daemon lite to mount it then copy the files out
