If you guys are getting HD players, best is to get nice 1080p Movies as well...yummy...
After you are hooked to HD stuff, you will never play DVDrips anymore |

Why not get heatsinks instead to put at the bottom?
They are availabe in many sizes from long strips to massive finned blocks. |

QUOTE(moomoos @ Oct 4 2009, 10:52 AM) D-link access point router can double up to 108mbps ...Right?? I find that the current 1080p release of TF2 is not so good...images are a bit grainy..probably wait for a better one..with better bitrates.watched transformer 2...3.2GB MKV file last night, and i must admit PQ is very very good and not at a ratio, compared to a 1.4gb Xvid file, its simply few hundred % better now downloading a 8.2gb Transformer 2 |

QUOTE(de_lasoul @ Oct 4 2009, 12:06 PM) Side topic, does grainy images produced also TV or player dependant? Like some TV may have them, and some may not although the movies are from the same source? Actually you can adjust the sharpness on the LCD/Plasma to make it more sharp but grainy, or more soft. But I can't be bothered, I can't be adjusting my TV based on every movie I watch.. QUOTE(moomoos @ Oct 4 2009, 02:11 PM) QUOTE(DarkNite @ Oct 4 2009, 04:26 PM) No probs...there is a newer release that is 16gb (rather than the 11gb one) which has better bit rates.Trouble is, I can't find a 'live' link to it...seems like they are all dead or removed by the servers every time it is loaded. QUOTE(gnsumas @ Oct 4 2009, 02:51 PM) err..It's out? I heard its Oct 20.This post has been edited by azbro: Oct 5 2009, 08:30 AM |

QUOTE(barry @ Oct 21 2009, 10:47 AM) For the internal unit, 2TB HDD should not pose any problem for the POHD. I am using the Samsung 1.5TB (best bang for the buck for the moment) - the HDD runs quiet and cool at 5400rpm, no problem playing movies at all. I am also looking at getting a HDU (docking unit) which can handle 3.5" or 2.5" SATA HDD, but really who cares about the 2.5"? I heard that, come the next PC Fair, the Samsung 2TB will be selling around the same price as what the 1.5TB unit is selling now. The HDU is a perfect solution for those of us who collect these massive HD movies. Cheapest I could find is RM109 by a seller in Lelong, the Xigmatek Secure. I use both 2.5 and 3.5 inch hardisk...I still prefer 2.5 since its more hardy, less current usage, easier to handle and cooler than 3.5.Added on October 21, 2009, 10:50 amazbro, You pressed the Add Reply button before I could. I didn't realise that this unit can be had for a low RM79. Thanks for the tip. But downside is the price...its double...and currently WD just launch 1TB for 2.5..thats the biggest capacity. Anyway..regarding the Vantec Toasters..here is what you gotta know before you purchase it. If it is used for the media player is no problem with USB....but if wanna use it for file GB file transferring using the PC, USB is painfully slow. Better to get the USB/esata set since esata is a lot faster than USB for file transfering. Make sure you PC or Lappy has esata interface. Next is the Dual Dockers...some ppl bought them and surprised can only recognized only 1 HDD instead of 2. If you want to for 2 hdd with esata, you need additional card with "Port multipliers" http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/view_detail/31 |

QUOTE(sskelviny @ Oct 21 2009, 11:07 AM) Wooo... Of course can...Awesome...thanks guys. I am planning to get the RM79 docking station. Anyone else interested. Then from the docking station use USB and plug in to POHD. Instead of putting one HDD in there...can hot swap mer. Anyone tested this way before? But remember this...is you are using the 3.5inch HDD 'naked' make sure you handle it properly...3.5inch sensitive stuff. Its better to get the docker with USB/esata interface cause for file transferring from PC to HDD, esata is much faster than USB. This post has been edited by azbro: Oct 21 2009, 11:32 AM |

QUOTE(barry @ Oct 21 2009, 12:02 PM) azbro, For these 'naked' HDDs, is it safe to store them in the plastic bags provided with the HDDs, shelved them somewhere? QUOTE(Ngto @ Oct 21 2009, 12:07 PM) Of course, those are anti-static bags. Just be careful you dont drop, expose to strong magnet etc. You will cry if you lose a 1.5T full of movies collection if you are not careful Yeah...my meaning is same like Ngto.If you got kids around, make sure you teach them not to touch it. Hehe...I teach my 1 year old kid not to touch any HDD (but after she dropped one) QUOTE(barry @ Oct 21 2009, 12:39 PM) I just found out from the supplier, yes the docker is able to format the blank naked hdd. For me, it's the way to go. Sure can format new hardisk...I format a few new hardisk using the docker...no probs...Does anyone here know about the next firmware release for the POHD? specifically for the capability to play BD-ISO? But it must be NTFS...cos' most of the mkv are 4gb over.....just do a quick format will do...I'm sure you know how to do it using the Control Panel/Administative Tools/Computer management/ |

QUOTE(WereWolf84 @ Oct 23 2009, 08:05 AM) Also, it seems that the remote control is very important since we using it to control everything on the POHD, can we buy stand alone POHD remote control? Get yourself a universal remote controller...its being discussed here:Thanks a lot in advance! http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1202313 |

Can anyone confirm ASS subs from mkv works with the PoHD?
I fedup looking for SRT files from the net....converting ASS files is not straight forward either. Did a google and some say can, some say depend on the bitrate of the movie. |
