Yeah, I just bought a new Macbook yesterday and it rocks. xD
It looked like the old one, but I think the new one is more roundish. Quite nice.
Very satisfied with my switch. The speed is also wonderful. No more waiting for ages for Windows to start up! biggrin.gif

MBW OR MBP ?

definitely would be getting the 13.3-inch
the HDD should'nt be a matter whether is 160/250G because can get an external one which is much cheaper right?
Processor: 2.26GHz or 2.53GHz?
RAM: 2Gb or 4Gb ?

Questions:

the following are not provided in the mac book white right?
(can you briefly explain the use of it and how to overcome this matter in MBW)
FireWire 800 port
SD card slot

is the cracking occur in this MBW?
and any problems with this MBW?

Usage:
mainly is to surf net

music production(not the too serious type yet and wont be too regular now because kinda busy with other commitments)
Logic Studio cost RM1700+ blink.gif < may use the cheaper one 1st in Mac then upgrade.. but miracle can happen
to get use with the mac world, perhaps gettin another better specs in 1 or 2 years time

microsoft office n adobe reader < need this 2 very much..is this come together in the package or need to buy it separately n any alternative laugh.gif ?
probably gonna install the Window OS < how much space this will eat up?

watching '' brows.gif thumbup.gif VIDEOS brows.gif thumbup.gif '' < heard not much affected by viruses? drool.gif rclxm9.gif

Nos:
definitely wont use for games, would use desktop instead

Purchase:
should be from an authorised reseller(premium) because the services they provide

So much thanks for any reply biggrin.gif

For me, I will go with MBP. Firstly is the aluminum body which is more reliable to me. Secondly if you go to the shop and look at the white macbook, you will see that the area around keyboard and palm rest become dirty tongue.gif and it is not easy to clean with that kind of material.

Regarding the processor speed, it's depend on what kind of activities you are performing. For me, I will use my MBP for picture editing, so I opt for 2.53 and 4GB RAM. For HDD, it can be upgraded easily in future. I need SD card slot because my camera is using SD card. Firewire port will be used to connect to external hdd for backup and transfer data. Of course, to you maybe these 2 are not necessary and you still can purchase external card reader and use USB port.

When i purchase my MBP I bought together the iWork which can read MS document. It is cheaper to bundle the iWork with your MBP purchase. MS Office for Mac is definitely more expensive than iWork.

I have installed window 7 in my MBP mainly for PPS drool.gif and it works extremely fine.

The final decision is yours. Do more research and pick the one suit you and within your budget.

firwire 800 - no way to overcome. u'll juz have to settle with USB
SD slot - can use card reader, no problem. it's just nice not to have to bring extra stuff with the MBP

for music production, yep u can use GarageBand 1st, which comes free with ur Mac. no idea how to rate it since i dont do any music production hehe...

u might not need adobe reader, because OSX have native support for PDF files. the Preview app can open pdf files..n 4 me feels like much faster than adobe reader anyway. but then adobe reader is free so nevermind hehe. if u're talking about adobe acrobat pro then have to buy la. for office 2008, there was this offer that u can get it for rm399 but im not sure if it's still valid or not. for alternatives u can get the cheaper iWork (Keynote rockssss) or go free with OpenOffice or google docs tongue.gif but if u're particular about format, equations, etc...the best way is to use office 2007 in windows.

installing windows natively in bootcamp...maybe 15gb is good enough if u dont plan to install a lot of stuff in it. if performance isnt that important, consider using windows as a virtual machine (u need to get either Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion). for VM i'd recommend 4gb or RAM

sometimes even premium resellers are not that good

edit: damnit i got a "Please reduce the number of emoticons you've added to the message" replying this haha. never know got limit

Should opt for CrossOver. Its an optimized version of WINE, no need for loading Windows in a Virtual Box.

http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html

Nope. sometimes ppl make mistake...for specs juz follow official site. i think that website is confused with the older macbook white... the picture is of the original macbook! tongue.gif probably they juz google image seach "macbook white" then saw the firewire 400 port on the older model

btw it makes no sense to release a device that has FW400 now.. since we have FW800 already

Report on bootcamp win 7 professional:
up to date, i able to use XP mode in mac bootcamp
but xp mode, the performance is really so so, run a heavy load app in xp mode is not really idea.

previously we was worrying about whether xp mode works in mac computer, the answer is YES. Even 3 years old macbook with intel 945 chipset.

your HDD is in NTFS.
mac os does not support NTFS volume natively.
u have to get "NTFS for OS X"
