whats the difference between idata plan and prepaid plan? i mean for both plans i3gs is at RRP (if i purchase idata plan separately). prepaid plan comes with a free 500mb data for 12 month, it means if i dont make much calls or sms, i just get a pack of youth club and get the free 500mb data for a year with rm10 top up, why would i go for idata which i need to pay rm50 every month? please correct me if im wrong with the idata concept.

Does anyone knows if maxis has only 3g dataplans individually? meaning doesn't comes with iPhone as well.

I'm using normal maxis postpaid line and have an iPhone.

Thx.

@kayzie,
Yes, Maxis has just introduced Daily / Hourly Passes. Besides that U can also subscribe to monthly GPRS plans. Check their website for rates.

@btr999,
iData plans are for post paid users. There's a discount/rebate on the RCP of the i3GS if U sign up for iData2/3 plans. If U sign up for the Hotlink Prepaid plan, U will not get the rebate but U get 500MB of free data.

Assuming you aren't a heavy user + still qualify to join Hotlink Youth then use that SIM to make the i3GS purchase to enable the free 500MB data p/month for 12 months

tinkerbel, I got the letter which entitles me to RM500 rebate. Since I qualify for Hotlink Youth Club, can I purcase the RRP, with RM500 rebate, and still get 500mb free data?

@pokemonmaster,
What did the letter say?! Did the letter say the rebate will be given to a postpaid account or is it valid for outright purchases? If it's valid for outright purchases then should be no problems but thus far from what I know the RM500 discount will be credited back into your current account over a period of 5 months.

@shibli,
Just wait till you receive the call. We aren't able to tell you how long the wait time is. If Maxis (the seller) can't give U that information, don't expect us to be able to give U the answer biggrin.gif

I'm on iValue 100, got my phone on 1st August, but 10 days later got bill. They prorate my 500MB, 10/31 days. And then decide to slap me with 180 bucks worth of data charges, because i was happily using the data thinking that i have a month quota to use. Blady Maxis

tinkerbel, i don't have the letter with me. But the letter is the letter for those people who have bought iphone 3G from maxis. Does it say only can come with postpaid or can purchase outright? I assuming you have the letter?

Yea.. exactly what I asked much earlier... my friend was also billed the same manner whereby the 500MB is actually prorated which means we can only use approx. 16MB per day only. Anything more, we will be charged.

Unfortunately no one here seems to be having the issue though.. well till you brought it up. I am keen to find out so I can decide which plan to take when my iPhone arrives.

I'm using hotlink, and I bought an iPhone 3gs early August via prepaid plan and gave it to my mother. Now I'm buying another set, this time with iData 2. Am I correct when I say

user posted image

To pre-order an iPhone, I'm required to convert my current prepaid number to postpaid, select a postpaid plan, and on top of that, pick up the iData 2 plan?

user posted image

In the picture above, what does Commitment Fee mean? Is the fee to be paid once during the sign up?

user posted image

Say, I sign up for Value Plus 50, and then iData 2. With that, my monthly bill will be RM50+RMX (iData 2 monthly fee + whatever usage for a particular month). Am I correct?

Kindly advise.

I went to Maxis Center @Gardens yesterday to order/purchase 3GS with hotlink package.

and guess what.....? Maxis has already pulled out that offer. According to the staff there, it has been taken out of the package offer since early Aug 09??? She even showed me a brochure of those packages offered, and Hotlink offer was scratched using red marker.

I was really NOT HAPPY. mad.gif

Can Maxis do that? Their website says otherwise (i mean, it still shows prepaid package with outright purchase is still offered).

Can someone enlighten this.

@tj01,
We've previously cautioned re pro-rate of charges by Maxis; just too bad U didn't read those posts sad.gif

@pokemonmaster,
I don't have the letter from Maxis; didn't purchase the i3G from them; just the i3GS biggrin.gif

@vectorian,
What issue are U referring to that you're keen to find out?!

@elsheik,
Yes Maxis remains the right to amend their plans as and when they want. However if the information is still available on their website; tell the CS the information is available on the website. They should honour it. Am not sure if U went to make a pre-booking but if U did, then it is true that Maxis has stopped taking pre-orders for those wanting to purchase via the Hotlink Prepaid option. I believe they will re open it when stocks are adequate.

@jlstriker,
U mean Value Plus not Value First. Yes U can add on iData 2 plan to your existing Value Plus plan.

@jlstriker,
Er... U can't sign on the iData 2 plan with your DiGi Value First plan. U must first have an active Maxis voice plan before U can add on iData 2 to it.
