Dear all, for iValue plan, does it mean...

Let say I choose the RM100 package, i can call to any local network for free 333 mins, and up to 500MB free data.

But SMS to any network will be charged RM0.10 each on top of the RM100 and can opt for RM8 for 500 sms to same network (maxis) users.

This means unless we don't sms other local network, else we surely got to pay more than RM100++?

That sounds... bad? smile.gif

yes. you got everything correct. iValue caters more to Voice & Data users. wink.gif

I still don't get it, y would a prepaid sign up for VP80??? might as well sign up for postpaid!!! At least can enjoy some RM400 discount on phone.

Anyway, paid my deposits at Maxis centre (under prepaid) w/o registering online. Later on, Maxis centre staff called up asking me wether got receive sms or not? NOPE. The lady said she will help me to re-register but till now still no SMS. Tried to re-register but can't get tru. Is this just me or every1 having the same problem? Hopefully, they don't have any problem on collection day!!!

Btw, I'm using Valu Plan50 and I intend to sign up 12mths contract under iData50.

RM2090+RM600 (12mths iData) = RM2690, so it's extra RM200, i get to use 500mb data / mth thou I seldom use it. But is 500mb enuff for occassional surfing + email + misc?

Thnaks

jonest,

keep trying.
i just called 123 maxis hotline and indeed they request for my booking reference number. they told me my booking is confirmed and ask me to wait for email b4 i can go pay rm200.
they indeed have a database on those who officially booked and will based on first come first serve basis to distribute.
if u just walk in the maxis center to pay rm200, they wont know wat to do with it, bcoz the decision comes from the HQ who has the database, not the individual centers/resellers.
Proof: Maxis called u bcoz they cant confirm ur confirmation number, hence they try to help u register in their booking system, EVEN THOUGH u have already paid rm200. it all goes back to their booking db.

Guys,

Just wanna ask those who have paid their deposit.
Do you pay by credit card?

Does Maxis centre charge any interest? How about machines?

@D.Sync,
Yes.. that is the price for the 'prepaid' plan - please refer to Post #1 for information.

@janson_kaniaz,
I've tried paying my Maxis bills at the Maxis centre through my CC and no additional charges were incurred. Am not sure about this RM200 though. No, Machines do not charge additional fees either.

@teikwing,
I've checked with my Maxis sources (and they're more accurate than the CS) - the RM99 Unlimited Plan is also capped at 3GB.
*
i think what djkeoni meant was to get the phone via the Prepaid route, use it with his current VP80 + Unlimited Data for RM99 which adds up to RM179 per month.

and the RM99 unlimited data is the one which came with Maxis Broadband, not iData's which is limited to 3GB.

but since tinkerbel mentioned that even the RM99 unlimited data is also capped at 3GB, there's no point going through the Prepaid -> VP80 + Unlimited Data 99 route then, which will add up RM400 more to the 16GB 3GS.

so advice for those who wanted to stick with their current postpaid plans and do some casual surfing on their iPhones, get the iData plan and pair it with your current plan.

Wow the prices are actually pretty damn good ... considering that singtel 8gb 3G's were selling for ~2.4k just a few months ago, 2.5k for 16gb 3G-S is a steal by comparison.

Anyway for those of you who haven't quite joined us at the apple side of the fence, 500gb data is more than enough provided you don't do tethering or downloading of videos via youtube/mxtube.

Example >> a 20-minute anime downloaded off youtube/mxtube is easily 80mb. 2 episodes a week = 640mb already.

@teikwing,
The benefit of taking up the "prepaid" plan is that U don't bind urself into a 24 month contract. If U calculate the total cost spent on the phone (inc of monthly charges) and if u don't think the plan is suitable then i think it may be wiser to spend the additional RM400 for a non-contracted iPhone 3GS biggrin.gif

@djkeoni,
Er.. the above comment was meant for U to digest too tongue.gif

@teikwing,
Er.. but if U take the RM100 plan x 24 months = RM2400 + the price of the phone... now, that's more than RM400 - then again.. most of us probably will utilise part of the RM2400 since we're based in KL biggrin.gif

Plus 24 months is a bit long lah.. before we can even say 12 months, we'll want the new upgraded 4th Gen iPhone liow tongue.gif

@MrKong,
Maxis knows how much data we use; and there's also a log in the phone - U can check it but some people think it's not accurate. I haven't got my bill so I can't check.

Read the first post on 3. Hotlink. You're able to purchase the iPhone outright.

@teikwing..i think better to put a note that we can buy the iPhone outright on the first post..

@tink:
yeah. 24 months is way too long. plus, as we all know, Apple updates their iPhone line of products once a year, so we wouldn't wanna miss out when the new gen is out and stuck in the middle of a contract right? biggrin.gif

@Mr Kong:
you can check it via General - Settings - Usage, but some claim the figures are not that accurate. another way is to check it via your monthly bill. i'm on RM8 per month for 5MB of data package and Maxis states the amount of data i utilise every month in the bill.

i've updated the first page on buyers able to purchase iPhone 3G/3GS outright via Hotlink plans and made some changes in the CAQ. wink.gif
