I dun think thats what he did la dude, looking at the vid no super bars was used when absorbing the hit and balrog was flashing white not yellow. But you got a good idea there. Didn't know also his EX Moves can be kara-ed into Ultras. Although I'm no balrog player, am still curious how its done.
*
bro phuryix,

what the EX birday boy mentioned is absolutely correcto mondo ... if he did not cancel into ultra, then you will see the super bar reduced by 1 bar ...

this Armor Cancel thingy can be done exclusively by only a few characters such as balrog (any ex rush), abel (ex cod) and GIEF (ex running bear grab) !! yes GIEF !!!

hahahah not sure i left any character out or not ..

wait a minute, i tot this have been discussed before in 1 of the threads ?? hmmm

pweic,

yes you can, in fact ... doesn't even need to be EX, all rush (similar charge moves) special can be executed using b(charge) -> f -> b + p or k

Hmm, this is totally new to me. Which means if the Ultra wasn't executed, then the super bar will go down? Once kara-ed to Ultra the super bar will remain? hmm.gif

yeah ... and it can actually Armor cancel to SUPER as well ... so somehow the sf4 system doesn't register the EX move bar usage if it is Kara-ed to Ultra or Super

found the earlier discussions : http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...40&p=24261203&#

it was in the sfhd thread .. laugh.gif

Thank you for the wishes Desimund CHONG, K2K! Sigh, the big 30. Don't worry Desimund. Your time will come soon enough. Ngiak ngiak ngiak.

It's called Charge Buffering, the Back, Foward, Back +P/K. Can be done since Super SF2 Turbo days (or even way back).

And yeah, I left that one out. The beauty of the Ex-Cancel is, it does not use up any Ex bar is canceled into Ultra or Super (Yes cancelable to Super as well).

And only consumes one block of Ex bar if canceled into Ex-Headbutt or another Ex-Dash Punch.

If canceled into another Ex-Dash Punch, you'll have a Ex-Dash Punch with 2 times Armor.

If canceled into a Ex-Headbutt, you'll see a Ex-Headbutt with Super Armor.

Try youtube it. It's been around for quite some time. And if you play with me offline, you'll catch me being stupid enough to attempt it at times.

Mike and hatred,

So about this whole armour cancel into ultra thing, must you absorb 1 hit before you can do the cancel? And must the execution be performed right when you are absorbing the hit or can be done after that?

Another question. If you watched the whole series of maeda taison vs ryu games you will see maeda doing that dash forward -> ultra thing several time, no FA involved, can you do that? I tried and failed, the timing is too tricky.

yeah, u must absorb 1 hit before u can cancel, and the execution must be fluid as if u are doing ultra or super ... meaning it is 1 motion , u can't ex rush and wait for it to absorb and then only ultra.

pweic, i didn't watch that match yet. There are 2 type, 1 is Armor cancel, 1 is FA Dash Ultra

for the armor cancel, the animation would look like boxer dash forward then absorb hit then ultra

for the FA Dash, the animation would look like boxer absorb hit then dash forward(backward is possible too) ultra

just viewed the video, confirm it is EX Armor Cancel Ultra

That one is Dash Ultra/Super. Timing is hard. I can only do 1 out of 10 attempts. Sometimes can not at all. Lol.

The speed of executing the inputs is as the same as you would do an Ultra. Same speed. You simply add in an extra FRONT in executing the Ultra for Dash Ultra. But timing is strict as I mentioned.

The input for Dash Ultra would be: Back(charge), Foward, Forward, Back, Forward + PPP/KKK.

And the same goes for Ex-Cancel Ultra, you just add in the extra PPP/KKK in between your Ultra inputs if you notice.

The input for Ex-Cancel Ultra would be: Back(charge), Forward, Back + PP/KK, Forward + PPP/KKK. (Note: Although it does not consume the Ex bar, you would still need a bar to pull it off)

Take this rumor with a HEAVY DOSE OF SALT, nothing in here has been confirmed, but things are looking slightly suspicious.

Henaki on the Shoryuken.com message boards mentioned he heard through a friend of a friend of a friend that the 10 new characters for Street Fighter IV Dash (Championship Edition) are:

From Street Fighter 2: Dee Jay and T. Hawk.
From Street Fighter 3: Dudley, Ibuki and Makoto.
From Street Fighter Alpha: Adon, Cody and Guy.
Plus two completely new characters.
He claimed this information would be revealed at, or right around the time the Tokyo Game Show takes place (Sept. 24 - 27).

Now, pretty much anyone could jump on the forums and claim these characters will be in the game, but Henaki has a solid reputation and a ways after his post was made the thread was deleted. Normally, threads are locked for stuff like this, but the current post was up to 4 or 5 pages before it was zapped.

Was it simply a mod who deleted the thread instead of locking it, or is there actually some truth to this post and it was subsequently removed?

Either way, it will be difficult to know the facts until more is confirmed from Capcom or another source, but the official Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog is said to be updated later on with new information about the game, so it's possible we may hear something soon.

Dont' think it's really that possible. 10 extra characters? The character roster's gonna be messy as hell. Somewhat like KOF or CVS2. Too many characters! Lol.

Dee Jay and T.Hawk, yes, chances are there. Rumors are that their model are already done.

Ibuki and Makoto maybe, but not Dudley. Don't think Capcom will put another Boxer in the game making it repetitive although they play differently.

Adon, another Muay Thai fighter, not likely. Although he plays differently compared to Sagat. Cody and Guy from Final Fight are not likely as well. I'd rather they put Rolento or Hugo in if they really wanna put Final Fight characters in.

Putting too many characters from so many different games will only mess them up as all the characters fight differently in their own respective games. If you put them into SFIV game, their capability will be compromised. Eg. Juggling Capability, Agility and all.

I'm sure Capcom don't wanna turn SFIV: Dash into another Capcom Fighting Jam which was a flop.

The trend I see with SFIV character selection is that Capcom tends to stick with characters from SF ZERO series and SSF2T (Super Turbo). This is my 2 cents lah. Could be wrong tongue.gif

Wow. Isnt 10 new ones going to overcomplicate things? There's already balancing issues with the current roster, especially with some console excusive ones being too weak, why not fix that first? I'm ok with a few new ones though ..Deejay and T.Hawk, and maybe a fresh new character should be fun. Then hopefully theyre fixing the godawful netcode and add new stuff like stages or game modes. 4-player Online Dramatic Battle anyone?

@Hatred: Yes, Rolento!

@King83: Nice pad dude. Reminds me of the Street Fighter 10th Anniversary pad I got for my PS2.

I read somewhere that you can use the armor trick on any move, it's just really hard to do. They used the armor trick to give Abel's ultra armor. It's really hard to do apparently, timing is very strict.

lol i dont have much time to response but yeah thats armor cancel right there(the official term is armor cancel though, "kara" doesnt make sense at all lol). the timing is you have to do it super quick (you basically cancel the ex move(and taking advantage of the armor properties of the move) into something else before the first move consume the ex bar, making it possible to do armor cancel super).. for example, my character abel can do ex cod cancelled into:

ultra
super
ex falling sky (will only use one bar)
ex roll (will only use one bar)
ex TT (will only use one bar)

ive done all of the above in training mode but its just to risky to try in a real match since if you messed it up, you're gonna eat a lot of damage.

hey I'm planing to buy sf4 for my ps3 but anyone can let me know the difference between region 3 and region a and region 2?
is that mean if i buy region 3 cd then i will not be able to play online with the other two region cd players?
i prefer to play with asia players and think that the speed might be stable than play with other regions
