QUOTE(shazmn @ Feb 5 2010, 09:46 AM) daijoubu? former edifier seller correct? still remember me? i always make myself busy at the edifier showroom test this and that back in 2002 if i'm not mistaken Yup =D former edifier showroom fella. No wonder ur nick sounds familiar =D. How are you man? Things been good?QUOTE(Dovienya @ Feb 5 2010, 09:52 AM) Torque drip is still around. Thanks for your long reply bro CPS did "technically" solved this problem; but it is more of a design fault. So, to say that CPS solve it is abit far-stretch. What I would say is that CPS did minimize the drip (due to the IAFM module integration). CPS actual utilization is in the higher torque powerband. Comparing CPS to normal ver, CPS give more power at the upper powerband. Also, when you ask opinion (other than this tread), do you ask them if they owe or drive a Gen-2? Because when I asked (last time), 90% of the reply comes from member who "hear-say" about Gen2. As a Gen2 driver, I'll say this as well. PRO: It is a Proton car, so spare part and maintenance is easier compare to foreign car. CON: It is a Proton car, so fuel consumption is not as good as foreign car (especially cars like Vios and City; reason = vios/city is built for fuel-consumption while Gen2 is built for power). PRO: The handling is tuned by Lotus (not sure about CPS version), so the car is more agile and have better control. CON: I feel that I need the power to assist in control. Feel rough at turtle speed; but almost no control problem if I driver at my normal speed (avg 2~3k rpm). PRO/CON (you decide): It is very fuel consumption in a fully 100% city driving (such as KL); my average is 34L (64$) for an average distance of 300KM. This is because I am attempting to drive consistently at 100Km/hour even during 5.45pm (traffic jam period) Also Known As: With great "Power", come great "Sacrifice" Summary: test drive and see if you like the feel of the car. But fuel consumption wise, what is the FC if on 80% highway and 20% city? =D that is more of my driving style. for 100% city its quite expensive tho 0.o. u must be really flooring it! =D |

Thanks for the technical feedback.
I'm not really into car technical; just know enough to (hopefully) not get conned. I dont floor the pedal; just alot of stop-go-stop-go... which is the main cause of the high fuel consumption. On highway, a full tank (34L) can get me to Ipoh (over 200KM) and still over 50% of fuel remain in the tank QUOTE(daijoubu @ Feb 5 2010, 02:06 PM) Yup =D former edifier showroom fella. QUOTE(daijoubu @ Feb 5 2010, 12:56 AM) actuallyyyyyy =.= not yet xD my fren who drive a Neo (Standard Campro with Extractor+Muffler changed) tested my car before, i dont have the time or chance yet still trying to sell off my old car before i get it but im kinda set on that car already its the only proton car i'd get if i have the money i'd go for vios/mazda 2/swift, but unfortunately id ont have the money so that means i'd have to go for proton and the gen2 cps does kinda in a way, excites me, more than any other protons at least =.= now, before i commit by going to a dealer and test drive, i want to know what im getting myself into xD what he comment is, my car (Stock Gen2 CPS) deliver more smoother power... especially in between 2k-4k rpm... Above 4k rpm, not much different compare his one ... my case same as Dovienya, if 100% city drive (stop-go-stop-go situation) definitely high FC... |

handling tuned by lotus is marketing gimstick. Handling never tuned by lotus. Proton follow lotus handling concept and implement to it.

QUOTE(Dovienya @ Feb 5 2010, 12:24 PM) CPS comes with VIM (Variable Inlet Manifold) where the solenoid is controlled by the ECU. IAFM is by vacuumAnd its called torque dip, not drip This post has been edited by shinjite: Feb 6 2010, 11:06 AM |

i wonder if lotus car also have the "same" characteristic which is
to have larger space while making u-turn used to drive kelisa, mercedes, but proton needs to have moarrrrr space to make an u turn |

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Feb 4 2010, 11:20 PM) Hello there thanks for your reply =D Well, if you're buying a Proton juz due to the excuse u can't afford other makes, then I can assure you that the car WILL be crappy. If you don't intend to give the car a chance..it'll always be crappy. As a matter of fact, the facelifted Gen2 is derived from the Persona's QC, what has been solved in the Persona is also available in the facelift Gen2. I'm not sure how you guys sit @ the back of your car, but as a 183cm tall mid sized male, I find the headroom & legroom's ok, juz as good as a City or Vios.. There is more general towards the CPS engine. Im actually more curious to know about the Gen 2 in particular. I always tell people that i want to get a gen 2 cps, but they always say that the car is crappy and have many problem and recommend to get the Persona instead. AFAIK the persona is derived from the gen 2 right? I always think that the old gen 2, being the first major proton designed car, has alot of problems, but all have been rectified in the Persona, and the gen 2 cps. Is this true? Many people say that they are the same, and the gen 2 cps still have many of the old gen 2 problems. Thats why i would like to know is there any issues users of gen 2 now are facing, and whether these issues are also on the new gen 2 cps. One of the things i heard about the gen 2 is bad headroom space in the rear seats. This is rectified in the Persona right. This for me isnt an issue =D Another issue i hear so much about the old gen 2 is the bad torque dip, which i believe in the CPS, is also rectified. I'd like to know more on other issues, so when i finally make the purchase, i can be well informed. Hope you guys can help. Thanks! The CPS and IAFM engines are actually good, if it's used at a constant speed. Even in a 100% jam, I can still get 300KM easily on RM50 worth of fuel. It's the traffic lights to traffic lights condition that the FC will suffer. If you're cruising at legal speeds along the highway, it'll be even better. Regarding other issues, there is a 5 year warranty for the Gen2 and I think all Proton models. As to what I understand in the document sent to me by P&O insurance, it covers what is covered in the 2 year manufacturer's warranty. So far, all issues I have is juz similar to those with my family's City & Kelisa and all can be solved for free @ SC. If you're still not sure, better wait for the New Waja or facelifted Persona then~ |
