Perhaps you can ask your question over : HERE

Hello there thanks for your reply =D

There is more general towards the CPS engine. Im actually more curious to know about the Gen 2 in particular. I always tell people that i want to get a gen 2 cps, but they always say that the car is crappy and have many problem and recommend to get the Persona instead. AFAIK the persona is derived from the gen 2 right?

I always think that the old gen 2, being the first major proton designed car, has alot of problems, but all have been rectified in the Persona, and the gen 2 cps. Is this true? Many people say that they are the same, and the gen 2 cps still have many of the old gen 2 problems. Thats why i would like to know is there any issues users of gen 2 now are facing, and whether these issues are also on the new gen 2 cps.

One of the things i heard about the gen 2 is bad headroom space in the rear seats. This is rectified in the Persona right. This for me isnt an issue =D
Another issue i hear so much about the old gen 2 is the bad torque dip, which i believe in the CPS, is also rectified.

I'd like to know more on other issues, so when i finally make the purchase, i can be well informed.

Hope you guys can help. Thanks!

Indeed, Gen2 having bad rear seats headroom problem if you are taller than 175cm...
Persona don't have this issue.

I believe buying car is depends on your luck, no matter is new car or used car ...  biggrin.gif

true true, i agree. with proton's qc, it really depends on luck =D

but is there like, real common problem with the gen 2? besides the rear headroom?
so at least, when i am aware of these problems, then when i buy i wont get disappointed when those problem happens ma =D
mentally prepare as they say =.=

like for example, the power window issues for all proton. now that i know its like, 80% can happen, when i buy the gen 2 cps, and the power window breaks down, i've alreayd somewhat expect it smile.gif

Talk about QC,
i believe even H or T brand car QC not as good as old generation..

anyway,
have you test drive Gen2 CPS before?
go test drive first, maybe later on you will change your mind again.. tongue.gif
*
actuallyyyyyy =.= not yet xD
i dont have the time or chance yet
still trying to sell off my old car before i get it
but im kinda set on that car already
its the only proton car i'd get
if i have the money i'd go for vios/mazda 2/swift, but unfortunately id ont have the money sad.gif

so that means i'd have to go for proton
and the gen2 cps does kinda in a way, excites me, more than any other protons at least =.=
now, before i commit by going to a dealer and test drive, i want to know what im getting myself into xD

Torque drip is still around.

CPS did "technically" solved this problem; but it is more of a design fault. So, to say that CPS solve it is abit far-stretch. What I would say is that CPS did minimize the drip (due to the IAFM module integration).

CPS actual utilization is in the higher torque powerband. Comparing CPS to normal ver, CPS give more power at the upper powerband.

Also, when you ask opinion (other than this tread), do you ask them if they owe or drive a Gen-2?
Because when I asked (last time), 90% of the reply comes from member who "hear-say" about Gen2.
As a Gen2 driver, I'll say this as well.

PRO:
It is a Proton car, so spare part and maintenance is easier compare to foreign car.

CON:
It is a Proton car, so fuel consumption is not as good as foreign car (especially cars like Vios and City; reason = vios/city is built for fuel-consumption while Gen2 is built for power).
PRO:
The handling is tuned by Lotus (not sure about CPS version), so the car is more agile and have better control.

CON:
I feel that I need the power to assist in control. Feel rough at turtle speed; but almost no control problem if I driver at my normal speed (avg 2~3k rpm).
PRO/CON (you decide):
It is very fuel consumption in a fully 100% city driving (such as KL); my average is 34L (64$) for an average distance of 300KM. This is because I am attempting to drive consistently at 100Km/hour even during 5.45pm (traffic jam period)  tongue.gif
Also Known As: With great "Power", come great "Sacrifice"  laugh.gif

Summary: test drive and see if you like the feel of the car.

Thanks for your long reply bro smile.gif. AFAIK the CPS have improvement in both intake and camshaft, while IAFM only have improvement on intake. They dont come together. The CPS is the better one, and from what i read, most reviewers say that in the engine with IAFM, torque dip is still noticable, but definately less, while on CPS, its almost eliminated.

But fuel consumption wise, what is the FC if on 80% highway and 20% city? =D that is more of my driving style. for 100% city its quite expensive tho 0.o. u must be really flooring it! =D
