Hey mate, I made my purchase of the 3.0 update on iTunes Singapore... Cannot wait for the Malaysian Store anymore! shakehead.gif

Anyway, the update process will certainly not remove any bit of your data... Everything will remain as it is and what is installed is the firmware itself as well as all of those advertised new features... smile.gif

Damnsit, apple has shown once again that malaysia is second class market to them. Anybody remember that how long we actually had to wait before ipod touch 2nd gen actually came to this country? It took more than a month and a half since it was sold elsewhere. Now for a simple software update also they can delay us, wadahellman.

Anyway changed my address in itunes profile to singapore and downloading now.

Used singapore epicentre adress :-)

I just noticed, that videos playlists now show up under "Music". Which is great, cos now we can have video playlists biggrin.gif It also means that "Videos" seems to be almost useless now....

Also, if you connect through the line out of the iPod, the volume slider automatically disappears, which is a nice touch.

does anyone know actually why Malaysian store is delayed?
surely all they have to do is flip a few switches over at Apple HQ to make it available...

I don't know..I heard a lot of complaints regarding the itouch 3.0 software especially in the worse wi-fi and battery condition. Maybe Apple is trying to rectify that part and intro a more corrected version?

Btw. has anyone encountered these problems?

i dont know about battery usage condition, so far seems normal.. and wifi seems as fast as before, tested with the SpeedTest.net app, similar results to the previous firmware.. but will try later tonite for better judgement.

I think battery usage is slightly worse. My iPod usage in morning commute usually takes up to 5% or less battery. This morning it took 10%. Music playback takes a while to even eat 1%, but now it seems slightly faster.

I think that new features are taking its toll on battery. Especially push notifications that run in the background.

Wi-fi seems ok to me. I'm still downloading at the same speeds at my local starbucks tongue.gif

the 9 pages springboard are extended to 11 pages.. and many of my apps could not be executed..is it because they haven't updated those apps to be compatible with 3.0 firmware?

Is there a way to prevent iTunes from asking me to update to 3.0 everytime I plug in my iTouch?

Yeah you're right many apps in cydia are not supported by 3.0 YET.
I think there's a list of them, you might wanna refer to that first before installing them. Just google it.

i've noticed one thing.. most of the apps closed unnaturally, meaning not the usual 'shrinking' effect, instead it just closes like that. it only happens when i run and close any app for the 1st time, but it shrinks normally the next time i run n close the same app.

and yeah, battery drains slightly faster now.. perhaps it's the bluetooth. other than that, seems ok. i managed to detect, pair and connect a few other bluetooth devices..
my nokia e61i - detects, paired, but cant permanently connect after pairing.
some SE phones - detects, paired, connects permanently.. but nothing can be done onwards.

need to find some a2dp bluetooth headphones cool.gif motorola S9 seems a nice choice, but gotta be careful so many fake S9 in the market, saw a few youtube vids too.. sweat.gif

btw, the new itunes 8.2 syncs my audio files slightly slower than the previous version.. not a big fuss but that's what i noticed as well.

Set it to remind me later or something like that. Can't really remember.

Well, I also made my 3.0 purchase via iTunes Singapore a couple of days back... Cannot wait anymore and paid USD9.95 for it, not exactly a small investment but great value for the enhanced features though! smile.gif

Anyway, the new firmware is doing fine thus far... WiFi is still running great (more accurate also! rclxms.gif)and I also have no complaints about battery life... I'm glad that the guys at Apple enhanced the Stocks app with the more detailed landscape mode, great for iPod business users like myself! In addition, the Spotlight feature helps in providing a one-stop search "center" for something that I want, whether from the Contacts, Todo, or even Music... Cut-copy-paste is also working seamlessly but unfortunately, Voice Memo is quite useless for now though...

Btw, what is the price of Bluetooth headphones in the market today? And what are the recommended brands? I'm planning to get one to take advantage of wireless headphones' convenience! biggrin.gif

*all these while i didnt realize the ipod bar...no wonder all ipod posts have gone*

[deleted]

as for wifi and battery i didnt notice any difference. for bluetooth, cant test since i own the 1st gen touch. shake to shuffle is a nice touch smile.gif. i have no use for spotlight at the moment, given the amount of stuff i have on the ipod (very little). copy&paste works flawlessly.

safari does feel a lil bit faster....but still no flash sad.gif. other phones are going to have flash n AIR very soon now...
