QUOTE Um, guys, why can't I update my ipod to the latest firmware? When I clicked on the check for update it says my current FW (2.2.1) is the latest. Currently using Mallaysian iTunes account. Anybody else facing this problem? Same problem here, it's not available in the Malaysian store yet for some reason, there was a download icon in the store for a few hours but it didn't work and they removed it =S apparently some other regional stores also facing this problem... hopefully we'll get it soon Also which feature are you guys using/looking forward to the most? I can't wait to have notes sync =P This post has been edited by Electric_Shaman: Jun 21 2009, 05:20 PM

@VexRed hahaha nice catch, bonus headshot points! =P QUOTE It really that bad huh the shaking part of iPod touch 2G? Is there a technique or something to shake it? hmm I guess it's good that it's a bit hard to shake, otherwise would be annoying to accidentally change the song every time you pick it up too fast technique i would guess might be something like do a 180 sweep back and forth from landscape to portrait to landscape? or maybe got some sweet spot angle where it works best... quite curious to know now =D

I dunno, could you really pass it up if it was free, honestly? Kinda see it as an accidental "First 1000 customers free" sort of promotion =P

QUOTE you are still download the OS illegally Not necessarily illegal, just frowned upon by people who couldn't get the deal for themselves. I'm pretty sure there's no direct legislature pertaining to situations like this making it an illegal act. Yea sure you could try and tack it onto some other law and say its covered under there, but it's a grey area that you can't immediately condemn or approve. Also to anyone NOT on the Malaysian store, Lego Batman is one of the latest big price drops from 5 USD to .99 cent, unfortunately to those of us stuck in the Malaysian store... we're getting sidelined again cause it's not available here. My point is, are there actually any benefits to staying in the Malaysian store? seems only like problem after problem for me...

Anyone noticed a big drop in app store download speed this week?
Normally it's really fast, much better than my normal speed, around 100 kb/sec Past few days it's been down somewhere near 20 kb/sec...

Even if what gadiylim was doing in the first place was wrong, it's not his fault that a bug started the download free for him in his itunes (can't quite remember what the post said, it got deleted, but think it was something like that right?). And if there's no way he can reimburse Apple for the mistake, and he can't revert back to the old OS; then I don't think it's a case of piracy as he did not directly download the file, and claims to have been planning to purchase it. And since he payed for his i-pod, we can assume that he did intend to also pay for his new software.

Okay so gadiylim is firmly in the wrong in this case. But if there's nothing that can be done to revert the action then no amount of words are going to right the action. If you really wanted to be as good citizen, you could go ahead and mail Apple 10 USD and hope it gets there =P at least you will have done the right thing
@Stringfellow on the note of 'damage to Apple's side', the damage is 10 USD (or 99 if you want to count the developer kit), something I don't think they'd miss very much in the midst of their millions of sales. They lose out a lot more than that to REAL pirates, not people like gadiylim. People going out of their way to copy and distribute copyrighted materials. It's the same issue with green living solutions, people won't buy into them if there's a cheaper, but more polluting, solution. So the only way to fix the problem is to cut off the source, aim for the real pirates. That old WWF slogan "When the buying stops, the killing can too" is the kinda logic you seem to be applying, and it seems faulty in this modern world when there's just too many people to stop them all buying.
And on a side note since we're in the middle of a global recession it means more people pirating to make money, and more people turning to piracy for cheaper goods. I'm not saying it's moral or legitimate, just a sad fact.
Edit: Sorry if that seemed a little too personally directed at you stringfellow, it's nothing personal just wanted to point out there's more effective means of combating piracy; the value of public education shouldn't be underplayed as it is still a key method in correcting the piracy problem.

QUOTE How can i download a route and save it into iTouch so that I can access the map without having to connect to the internet? Is it possible? If you plot the route whilst you have an internet connection on the touch, you can still follow that route after you lose the connection. If you have a jailbroken i-pod, then you can download maps, follow this tutorial: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f126/22320.htmsource: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...18093353AATkBb0

QUOTE The iPod Touch is increasingly becoming more like an iPhone minus the Phone. Yea but the other thing missing is an integrated microphone, a handful of apps/games have mic elements (i think you can plug in headphones with a microphone to use them right? not sure as haven't tried it myself yet). Hoping there will be one on the next gen touch...

QUOTE Btw..My band performed for Mac+iPod Discovery Week last week and here are 2 music covers we did with the iPod Touch. It's fun but yet challenging. Videos were really good, congrats on the performance =D think i'm going to go download ishred now... Was wondering, has your band experimented with using these kind of music apps on the itouch for song composition to later play on the real instruments? Seems ideal just to whip out a touch to try out or show someone a short bit. Although I guess it might not work out quite as well as that in actuality. Just thinking what the limits of apps like that have, seeing as you guys managed to play entire songs with them =P

QUOTE when will Malaysia get the 3.0 OS update? soon? if it is then I can wait.... I finally managed to squeeze a response out of an Apple help service person: QUOTE The software is not yet approved for these countries. The availability date has yet to be determined. I encourage you to use the iTunes Feedback page to submit your comments: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.htmlSo looks like those of us stuck in the Malaysian store are screwed for now...
