Nokia has a new S60 v5 phone, aiming to cater to those who want to jump to the S60 v5, with less budget...

The 5530 will be price lower than the 5800. Among the things it loses compared to the 5800 is no GPS receiver, HSDPA support and comes with a 4GB microSDHC. The display is also smaller at 2.9 inches. The battery is a 1000MaH unit




Anyone want one already?

For me, I`m rather tempted to get one as a secondary phone. And the phone looks less plasticky compared to the 5800

without 3G, it would not be attractive if the selling price is around RM700+

But remember the HTC Touch Viva at 1.2k, just EDGE also quite a hot model...

Should be like 800-900 when first launch I guess as stated by GSMA will be expected to be 199 Euros

darn e72 dont hav Carl Zeiss but this hav it.. guess nokia is bac to it way of making phone "not giving all the goodies in 1 phone"

LG cookie is selling at RM700+ without 3G.
This phone should not be a lot more than that.

Well, remember the Carl Zeiss in the 5800? Which has a very tiny sensor, thus pics in bad lighting sucks...

This phone, although lacks some features of the 5800, seems more towards the fun side of having a music phone.
It has scrolling contacts, ability to control music through home screen, more versatile home screen, and have more choices of colours and it comes with an IEM(although not that good in quality I'm sure, at least it is showing that this is a music-centric phone). It has the right eye-candy for the target market. Looking at this now, it makes the 5800 look more bussiness like.

Why didn't Nokia do this to the 5800? I mean, it's the flagship in the XpressMusic series. You're right J-Slade, if Nokia doesn't do anything about this soon to us 5800 owners, we'll be greatly pissed.

as long e72 can take good pics, ok already. Carl Zeiss or not, not much diff for me, 5800 hv but the pics, not good. other manufacturer dont hv Carl zeiss also can take good & nice pics

anyway this 5530 front styling with metal finish look nice and it dont have recess screen like 5800, more clean n sleeker.

hopefully next fw update for 5800 will have homescreen like 5530

I like the design if compare with 5800 design, but with no 3G?

The homescreen and the overall look is the only thing that I like about this phone. Which I guess is a lot. But the problem is no 3g and no gps. They should've made the 5800 xm look like this initially but, for the price of my 5800xm I am not complaining.

5800 uses wont be tempted to trade in theri phone for this, but if Nok dont give us the 5530`s home screen, we`ll really be pissed and dissapointed

I use more than 10 3G phone, still waiting DiGi release 3G for mobile phone

Their 3G broadband internat is already here. Once that has spread throught entire Malaysia, then they'll release it for cellphones.

no 3G, no GPS, no problem! i'm thinking lot on whether getting 5320 or 5800.. but with this coming soon it just solved my doubt i guess.. 5530 sits between both!

Most probably around 900 or under. The touchscreen from LG(i forgot what it was) was around that price and it to had no 3G.

I would imagine teenage boys and girls, still in school would buy one of these. The choices of colours and 20 contacts homescreen with images seems to point that way.
It's not that hard to convince their parents to get one, since it'll most probably be surprisingly affordable(take note of the 5800 and N97), and many would want one. Seriously, in the world, not many under 20s would use GPS and the numerous 3G enabled features(like video call for instance).

true. not even teenagers, my friends who are young adults, both males and females, mostly do not care much about functionality. they just want a phone that looks good.

I think i am going to get it from SG! I dont really care about the 3g lor, Only a student leh. It looks like LG arena thou actually. I was thinking of LG arena or Nokia 5800. And i've check the price its only 280 SGD for the Nokia 5330. HOW NOT TO GET IT RIGHT?! HAHAHAHA!

But to add RM200 more you can get a Nokia 5800 with GPS, 3G, etc

I don't think the price will be that high

I read somewhere, it is estimated at 220 Euro which is mighty close to 1k. But estimated price isn't a good measure for actual retail price later on.

The N97 was supposedly close to RM2800, but it came out under RM2500. Similar for the 5800. So let's just wait.

there is no point to get 5530 at price myr900. Because why? , that time the price for 5800 already drop to myr900.

if it is priced at RM900 range, then this model will only be attractive to those who only care about the look but not the function. extra RM100 can get 5800XM AP already

if the shipment of 5530 is punctual then will be july. but....impossible...

it only a few days to july.

no more earpiece problem on 5800.
even my 5800 which is bought on march, doesnt have problem at all.

Those after feb dont have that prob. Bought mine in early feb btw....

And yeah, nothing is perfect.

Only a few differences:

1) No 3G
2) Less internal memory (70mb compare to 81mb for 5800)
3) Smaller screen (2.9 compare to 3.2)
but 4) faster ARM 11

I didn't really care about 2), 3) and 4), but lack of 3G is really a let down.

What really amaze me is its wifi feature. If the price is below RM800, I believe it will be a hit. I wonder about its camera performance.

I know that camera is the same 3.2mp but doesn't means 5530 has the same picture quality.

I already tried with my 5800 camera. One picture with the back cover on, and one with back cover off (take out). Picture with no back cover is much clearer and brighter than with cover.

So, I think the back cover somehow reduce the picture quality. 5530 has almost the same back cover design (no clip camera cover). So probably will face the same problem but may be Nokia come with better hardware.

at 1st i tot wanna buy n79 or e63 caz got wi-fi.but suddenly saw this 5530 wif touch screen sommore..coool.most important is within my budget,less than rm1k (ori set).i cant wait when this phone will release.pls update us if anyone know when it will release n the price oso.thanks..
