This is what DPReview.com said in their preview of the GF1:
"We've been playing with the GF1 for a month or so now (and have had a full production sample for a couple of weeks) and I have to say that, even before we start the formal review process, we're very impressed with it indeed. When we reviewed the Olympus E-P1 we commented that it was a camera you'd buy with your heart; with the GF1 there's now an option for those who like to buy with their head, too. We'll be bringing you a full review as soon as we can, but for now here's a preview and extensive samples gallery to keep you going." Panasonic GF1 key advantages: Faster autofocus and AF subject tracking Higher resolution screen (twice as many dots) Built in flash Optional Viewfinder AVCHD Lite Fast (F1.7) pancake lens Olympus E-P1 key advantages: Currently supports autofocus on a wider range of Olympus Four Thirds lenses In-body IS Collapsible kit zoom Stereo Sound Dual control dials Art Filters Check out the sample photos taken with their fast pancake f/1.7 lens ![]() ![]() |

Stringfellow: sorry to hear about your E-P1 becoming your backup.
The one thing that is really making me perk up (a bit) is the 20/1.7f lens. The rest not really - i mean, 185 pound optional EVF? which is inferior than the one in the G1? I'll pass. BTW - check this out http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp...essage=32888280 Now THAT is a stalker lens for m4/3. And oh wow Fisheye lens, and that 14/2.0. I want the first and the last - just because i can hahaha |

m4/3 is a mount - so yes, olympus can use panasonic stuff and vice versa.

Hmmm, I don't see that much love towards the GF1 compared when the PEN was first released...
Should I just keep my PEN? Hmmmmmmm... This post has been edited by ae8za: Sep 2 2009, 09:05 PM |

The E-P1's esthetics just makes people fall in love with the design. For the GF1 it's the specs.

Am hoping Olympus takes the cue of Apple and release a 2nd version of the EP-1 soon
* I know the GF-1 offers a very good AF speed . . but GF prefers the retro look of the PEN >< * |

Only White and Silver (actually its brushed steel, but its shiny However you can always buy skins for the camera. From here: http://www.aki-asahi.com/store/html/E-P1/leatherette/EP1.php |

I guess it's better to get the GF1 package with 14-45mm lens...
because it's much more expensive than the f1.7 pancake! but the panake lens is so niceee.... |
